Yeovil Attendance (2 Viewers)

I attend half a dozen games a season. I would have happily paid £22 for my ticket v Gillingham, but would not attend the Yeovil game for £10 as I don't want to go every week.

I think the std pricing is very fair.

i dont even know if my brain can comprehend that at 9 am tbh

I think the club needs to seek assistance from a consultant on this issue. One who has a wealth of experience working for a large, successful business, perhaps a company located in the City of Coventry itself might be of use?

The well versed 4 or is it 5 'P's of marketing; Product, Promotion, Price and Place.....could be the "Pillars" of the clubs future success.

If only this forum had a marketing expert... Step forward anyone...? ;)

Ironically you say more fans won't go even if it's cheaper and the three games you quote "gillingham, crewe and Chelsea" were all games with reduced ticket prices?

Crewe was £5, gillingham was £10 and Chelsea was £20. Very ironic these were all sell outs with a cheaper ticket price. I'm not saying yeovil would be a sell out but charge £10 for yeovil would more go? Bet your house on it they would.

4 tickets at £22-24 is £88-96 and 4 tickets at £10 is £40. Simple really.

They were 'one-off' games. Crewe - Wembley, Chelsea - one of the biggest clubs in Europe, Gillingham - first game home.

Of course more would go on Saturday, but you think it would be more than a couple of thousand?

well considering in our relegation season from the championship we were getting an average of 15000 , why is it wild to suggest that we can pull in the same average in a promotion pushing season in league 1

We'd average that easily if this was a promotion season as I've said repeatedly. And at £22-£24. You've just backed up my point. It's about success and NOT ticket prices.

They could have made it £2 this week and I still wouldn't be able to go. Not everyone is able to commit to every home game, or even say every other game, as personal circumstances dictate. What I am doing now is planning in games up until the New Year, and how to attend in the most cost effective way with the two kids keen to go. There is other stuff going on in our (my family's) lives - that's modern life for you folks!

Glad to be back at the Ricoh to have this issue to be honest. PUSB :claping hands:

Those who thought our attendance would be 20K (of which there were many) were clearly deluded. I predicted 12K which I still think will be there or thereabouts. It is so much less about pricing and so much more about a large chunk of our fans that don't really give a shit unless its a big occasion (Gillingham, Crewe, Chelsea).

All this nopm nonsense and now we're back and people won't go to the 2nd game because the tickets are £3 too much? Its laughable.

You think there would be an extra 10K fans there on Saturday if our prices were £15-£18 then? Seriously?

Again, it's impossible to deny that ticket prices have an effect on attendance. How much is debateable, but it will have an effect.

There's also a reversal of logic here, imho. Any business that blames its customers for not buying its products is going to struggle. It's pointless having a pop at fans for not attending, especially given all of the crap they've had to wade through over the years, and of course most recently.

What the club need to do is think of ways to encourage attendance, and ticket pricing is one of those things that needs to be considered.

I think it is both skybluelee. Ticket prices matter to the tune of a few thousand supports and success matters to a few thousand. We both disagree which is fine but I think the truth lies somewhere between the two as often is the case.

Team does well in a promotion season then attendances will increase with current prices.

Team does poorly then attendances will drop with current ticket prices.

Club makes tickets slightly cheaper more will go.

Club makes ticket prices more expensive less fans will go.

All 4 statements there are correct in my opinion.

Agree with Duffer on this. Demonstrate an obvious commitment to the fans/local community in the immediate term with low prices. Get bums on seats. I for one would be able to plan in a few more games I suspect, and encourage more friends and family to come along too.

exactly, if tickets were 15 it woukld be 2 games for 30 quid compared to £22 for one. it would encourage better attendance rates.

Sod the price! I'm just glad to be able to be watching City again. And when I think of how much I've saved by not attending a single game at Sixfields...well...a few quid just doesn't come into it for me. Can't get to Yeovil game but already got my tickets for Preston game, regardless of what they're going to charge for that one!

Good for you - wish I could commit to more games. Not everyone's circumstances are the same though re money and time.

Another factor to consider is where the money goes and if it is being used effectively.

I would happily pay a premium for a ticket knowing that the money directly supports CCFC and not Sisu shareholders. Pushing for promotion would be considered effective.
Similarly I am reluctant to pay silly prices for f&b if the profits do not go into CCFC. The club need to take up the 50% share in ACL ASAP (if available)

Very true and staffing costs have been a lot more than ticket income for years. Wasn't staffing like £9.5m in our last season at the Ricoh, compared with £2.8m match receipts?

sisu may have never taken a dividend ( although i suspect with the sale of Calum Wilson/Clarke and Arsenal coupled with the sale of season tickets the last accounts may prove the exception), but they do charge 1.5 m management fees etc to the club every year!

If the management fees were reduced/dropped then the club could perhaps afford to be more flexible

Who hired the staff? Never understood the argument for Sisu here, they've been here long enough to cut our cloth if needed. If they've overspent, they've only got themselves to blame.

But yeah, never understood the whole "asset stripping" thing, maybe a tax dodge and certainly the board have been raking it in in wages, but other than that...

For the record I haven't suggested that ticket prices don't have ANY impact on attendances. But I believe the impact is minimal when we're talking about £22 or £18. Most people who won't go because the price is £22 will not go if the price was £18. This £4 differential just an convenient excuse for many (not all).

There's a massive psychological difference between £18 and £22, hence why everything is £x.99 instead of round numbers. You may scoff, but humans really are that stupid.

They do take a management fee though.
IMHO that enables them to charge the club even though it is running at a loss but leaves debt in the club.

If it was your self employed business you would not get paid if you operate at a loss. This way they can still get paid and still operate at a loss.

Really surprised by the response in ticket sales, but even if the tickets were a tenner I doubt the attendance would be that much better.

Finally back at the Ricoh and the second... SECOND home game we will barely scrape together a 10k attendance, Shocking.

Because people have found something else to be outraged about, ticket prices.

Why are you shocked? We only used to average 12,000 and in the last 500 days SISU have forced people to find other pass times. Also 2 games in a week is a big ask

Sounds about right. Those which are a marketers dream, "Lets sell our product for £20", "No No, thats far too expensive, lets sell it for £19.99 then they'll think they are getting a good deal!".

I have gone from £35,000 a year to £75.00 per week jobseekers allowance.
Do they do special rates for the unemployed?

So for me it price is a factor, I will go as long as I can get the money, but to be honest can't justify a season ticket while I am not working.....

Fucks sake, more paranoia. No ones getting their pockets lined at this club at the moment.

I just can't get over the hassle it is just to get a bloody ticket. I renewed our season tickets last week and it took me over 2 hours to do it. People were queuing for hours, so although obviously there are no queues now, people are still reporting issues with the telephone, website and not enough staff serving. I am pissed off we will struggle to get over 10k there, it should be nearer 20k, but the marketing is a complete joke and the lack of a professional approach is disappointing. End of rant, get your tickets, enjoy a Saturday afternoon at the match. PUSB

We still should be in the honeymoon period, that's why. The people that couldn't get a ticket for the Gillingham game, where are they? I can understand interest would die off after a while, but this soon.

Not that it matter what any other fan things but from looking in from the outside, second game in and back to low attendances. People liked to make a big song and dance about how its been so terrible moving the club away, then the second game back they are not really bothered about it.

I'm sorry but two games in a week, that's no excuse for the vast majority.

With season tickets down from 6,500 in 2013 to 4,000 now, the club has to find another 2500 casual fans just to match the old attendances.

Exactly!! People were going on about their kids never being able to see us playing, relatives who are quite old never seeing us play again in Coventry, people who were thinking of trying to take sisu to court for damages on their emotions etc. A couple of the most outraged posters seem to have stopped posting since we moved back.

For some I think it was just something to be angry about, something to be part of.

You have one guy on here saying he won't go back for a while because the football wasn't that good.

Then get back to work you lazy bastard! Only kidding!

Yes there are some that are struggling at the moment and I'm sure you would go if you could. Looking at the numbers, 23000 (taking the season tickets away) match tickets were sold last week, this week we have sold 1500. So 93.5% of Coventry fans are unemployed and cant afford to buy a ticket?

Well the lad I am taking on Saturday can't afford every game so picks and choses he would go to more if he could afford it so yes there are some out there.

Easy to say price doesn't matter if you can afford it, you have to look at others circumstances before judging them!!

I don't know anyone that would go purely on the basis that it were £5 cheaper, in my experience people are either interested in going or they are not. Sadly most are not.
