2 decent central midfielders and 2 decent strikers and we may have a decent side for the upcoming season.

If only we could sign two of Prutton, Robinson, Norwood or Bailey - then get a couple of decent L1 strikers.

For all his histrionics, I would have had Leon Clarke back. If Marlon gets out of chokey, I'd take him too.

Bailey is joining Doncaster isn't he? I'd have Bailey here for sure, Norwood is in the Huddersfield first team so I doubt anything possible there. Not really sure whether the other 2 players are the answer for us.

Phillips looked very comfortable when he played, and I think he'd offer us more down the line than Clarke.

Phillips over Clarke for me too I think. Phillips looks an exciting prospect to me. Only thing is, one good season from him and we know what'll happen!

I just feel Phillips is raw and more attack minded. Jordan grew up a lot last season IMO. Plus I'd want a more solid defence.

By my reckoning we have 18 senior players. That includes Lee Burge and Ryan Haynes. The rest are kids. Jack Finch & co. (I'd be delighted if he breaks through and does well).
It's threadbare really isn't it.
It would be terrific to get upbeat but the true picture has got to be looked out.
Out of a small squad that got found out in the second half of last season - we've lost Murphy, Christie, Moussa, Wilson, Adams. All seasoned pros. And Prutton, Delfouneso, Ecclestone, Robinson. 9 players out.
We've brought in two reserves on loan from Bournemouth (til January) an inspirational if injury prone and international bound Reda Johnson. Danny Pugh looks solid. Two wingers who have issues. And an 11 stone 5'10" striker who hasn't done a lot in two years.
Meanwhile something in excess of £4 million pounds from Cup receipts, transfers and transfer add ons (Juke), sit in a bank account in the Cayman Islands.

I doubt very much it is.

You would.

It's covering losses - if you really want to look at a football club where it's owners are "trousering" the money go and look at Blackpool.

Yep, not much evidence of the millions received in transfer fees being spent on new signings. Presume that we'd have signed this many players even if Wilson had stayed - so covering losses really is the "reinvestment". Near enough to a transparent lie.

Ah so you are ignoring the historic debt - that means nothing does it. I started a thread on Blackpool a while ago and the general view was if the owners took money for themselves it's good business.

Astute called them "good owners".
