I said that it maybe was not the most appropriate thing given what is going on but why should the children that do go not be given a first class experience?? So the ones that don't won't feel left out? Most children that do or don't go will have that decision made by their parents.

If you read the whole article he praises the clubs staff for achieving what they do despite the owners. So no, I don't think he's doing them a discredit, in fact just the opposite.

I think it is insulting Nick. The club takes the team out of the reach of many families, some of whom have family memorials at the Ricoh and long, long histories of supporting the club. The club then wins an award for how it treats is customers???? You don't think some people feel insulted?

What with all the fuss it's creating they must be beside themselves at CT Towers. Probably planning another piece for people to froth over.
The Northampton situation is shit but this isn't about that specific situation.

I presume you mean £10M per season? If so, I doubt any of us would think that was fair and would probably back SISU moving us out, for the good of the club. However, in terms of money in and out (and based on the virtually "rent free" kind of money ACL allegedly offered via the FL) I would assume its costing the club more to be in Northampton. I'm sure the FL could take action if they really wanted to, but it seems they don't want to rock the boat.
Dunno what the criteria was Nick. I would think due to the outrage it's the facilities at Sixfields, something I have no experience of so can't offer an opinion on that. If it was getting families involved in the community, Northampton aside, the club do seem to do a fair bit in that respect - which they publicise on the official web site.
Just seen Central News, the reporter there said it was based on the reaction of people watching games at Sixfields - not necessary Cov fans, could be the proper away fans too.

A bit like Mystery Customer/diner assessment that goes on In Retail and Dining .
Well they had plenty of room to relax in the peace and quiet . No queues for food . Easy car parking with plenty of space and 1 steward for 3 spectators. No wonder they had a good time. Now if only that bloke on the hill would stop blowing his whistle ;-)

My slant, I don't see Sixfields as a home game, regardless of what it says on the fixture list. But that's just my opinion and in no way criticism of those who attend.

If you can't see why this pisses people off, you're not getting it. I'd like to take my family to watch CCFC, but I'm not going to go to Northampton to do it. So what "outstanding experience" are we, and the majority of CCFC fans like us getting?
And it's an award - here's the definition from the FL website: "the Award recognises the outstanding experience provided by clubs for young fans and families".

£10million an obviously exaggerated figure, but no club should be "forced" to play in a stadium because there is no other choice in the area, just asking to be held to ransom.
That applies everywhere, not just Coventry of course.

Yes, I know you were tongue in cheek with the figures there lord - and I agree, holding us to ransom because the Ricoh is the only viable venue in Cov would be out of order. I just repeat, if it was an extortionate fee then many of us would be forced to agree SISU had no choice, and would probably have gone along with it for the short term ... but they were given quite a few lower rent options that would have been beneficial to the club, rather than lose shed loads of dosh at Northampton. It doesn't make financial sense for CCFC to stay at Sixfields. It may make financial sense for SISU though.

Serious question then, as the Football League claims it wants to get tough on financial mismanagement of clubs, should the FL be allowed to force a club to play in a venue that will be better for its short and long term financial position?

Clubs should be forced not to spend more than they bring in, however that goes.
To be fair, in our whole history only really gone bust twice, since we've been at the Ricoh, though that not the major reason by any means.
Because it's ridiculous that the criteria can't take things like our situation into account, it's like winning a clean beach award because you tick the box for low litter, no sewage and crystal clear water oh but the local power plant pumps radioactive water out onto the beach, no matter.
ccfc might have ticked the football league boxes but the simple fact of the matter is we are the worst club in England to support this year for families, a few familys might be happy but 90% of them arn't so it's a complete utter farce to award them for it.

Yes it is, that beach shouldn't get a clean beach award because it's not clean even though it ticked the boxes and coventry city shouldn't get an award for being good for families despite ticking boxes because ccfc probably is the worst club in the country to support for families.

like being fired as a Coventry Ball Boy/Girl because despite living in Coventry and being a ball boy/girl for Coventry you are no where near the home games, so fired on mass. money can't buy, never to be forgotten experience,

To be fair Nick, this is what the League spokesman had to say about the award:
“The Football League Family Excellence Award gives clubs a standard to aspire to when planning their efforts to attract more families and young fans to their matches.
“It is hugely encouraging to see so many clubs receiving the accolade, demonstrating The Football League’s ongoing commitment to securing the next generation of fans.”
How has playing in Northampton done that?
I'm sure the actually clean beaches award is fit for purpose, it was a hypothetical example of giving an award for a clean beach based on acheiveing specific tick boxes that don't take into account something that completely goes against the spirt of the award which is the exact case here.
It would be very easy for the definition of cleanliness to take into account clarity of water and that the water must have below a certain ppm of specific contaminents that they would normally see. so you test for x, y and z and they arn't there so yay clean beach award ignoring the fact that a b and g make the beach unsafe. It would be a ridiculous situation if this is how it worked yet it's exactly what we see here.
