Carling (2 Viewers)

I wouldn't normally go near a Carling but actually don't think it's that bad in the ground. I've never gone to a football match expecting a delicious pint.

beers in all football grounds is piss poor

unless grounds change the barrel every week, it’s not being maintained as only used once every fortnight

More fool to be paying £6+ for not maintained beer

I doubt many fans go to a football match for a premier experience regarding drink and food. I don’t think if we bought in Michelin Starred chefs and allowed CAMRA discounts for a selection of high end real ales it would catch on.

Most of these beer connoisseurs have no doubt been pre match to those excellent establishments like the wheetsheaf or the cherry tree and consumed some quality food from a burger van . Imagine the disappointment they most feel that for the 20 minutes they may have at half time they can’t enjoy these experiences of high quality food and beverage.
The Guinness in the Wheatsheaf is very good, they also sell Brew X1.

Pretty sure they make Madri as well, which tastes just the same.

Madri is Carling just advertised differently! Yet people rave about it and say Carling is poor. Laughable! I think I'm in the minority as I don't mind Carling, just don't appreciate paying over the odds for it!

To be fair, the Stella they had was the worst beer I have ever tasted, Carling is just a mid beer but it's ok in a football ground and much better than the Stella which is normally much better than the stuff that was sold at the ground.

Obviously they don't want the fans getting pissed out of their heads, I mean how many pints of Carling would it take to get pissed.

The beers are so poor…..I normally changed to a Magners out of the bottle in the ground. At least you know what you are getting. ……but they changed that as well 🤦

I don’t drink much so may be missing something but why don’t they only sell bottles? Would be much quicker and people I’d guess more likely to buy two while they’re there as they’re smaller.

I’ve written to Douglas and asked if he could perhaps invite Rik Stein to do a fish tasting experience for the oh so sophisticated Cov fans and also a Belgian beer bar selling a traditional range of Trappist ales and lagers in lovely designer glasses.

I’d love that. Is there a rule that football fans have to be served overpriced piss and slop?

There’s a Guinness stand in block 10 and it’s actually a decent pint. The beer from the bars are piss.

Bit snobbsh there Grendel!

I actually really enjoyed prematch at the CBS last season, all things considered the beer selection was perfectly decent including Dhillons and Camden, and well priced at £3.60-£5 a pint. I'd usually get to the stadium a couple of hours early to meet up with mates, get a few in and enjoy the atmosphere before heading to my seat.

In many ways, the new beer offerings feel like a microcosm of the problems we face now we're PL. Variety and half-reasonable prices replaced by £6.50 piss water and you will be grateful for it.

Was hoping there’d be a Doom Bar on the list but doesn’t look that way.

They used to sell bottles at Highfield Rd but the problem is that they're all warm and take up a lot more space

Bit cloak and dagger, deception going on oh well.
