Transfer Rumour Ellis Simms Sale (1 Viewer)

Simms reward for 150 appearances and mat h winning goal.
Hes only started about 75 odd games and scored close to 40 goals in 70 starts.

We have had worse strikers.

Yet Frank tells him watch thanks for coming. Watch the home game from home mate!. Its utter nonsensical unless he's had a word from top to sign up.

No wonder there's non plussed players in squad. No fucking consistency.

Also Simms was very expressive when he acored..not usually that expressive by his laid back standards.

I haven’t ever particularly rated Simms - I was always firmly in the Haji is better camp. But he’s been good this year, from the first day at Arsenal to his substitute cameos. Nearly scored at Man City, got the goal against Newcastle.

In fact, he’s weirdly seemed just as effective at PL level as he was in the Championship.

Sometimes you watch from the stands, and disagree with the choices, but can sort of get what the manager is thinking. This season I just can’t fathom why he’s not being given a chance. Whether he should start is a debate maybe, but not being used or even available as a sub when we are chasing a game is really puzzling.

Said it for a long time Lampard just doesn't rate Simms.
Simms was banging goals in for Sunderland a few seasons a go on loan from Everton. lampard arrived at Everton and immediately recalled him then hardly played him.
Goals per minutes played Simms is the best striker at the club but everytime he starts to score Lmpard drops him to bring in Wright or any other striker.
Strikers rely on confidence and continually being dropped as soon as tou get the chance to start is not conductive.
Personally I think Lampards treatement of Simms is appaling and who would blame Simms for running his contract down or downing tools now. Seriously starting to question Lampard team selection and man management

The club had agreed to sell Simms in the summer but personal terms were turned down by Simms. With promotions came bonuses which would of meant a drop in wages and a move back to the championship if he would of gone.

It was made clear from the club and in truth if Wright would of been fit i doubt Simms would of made 1 squad this season. So to say badly treated is too simplistic, the club will have a reason and the right to be a bit pissed off. I like Simms, but in truth he was not part of prem plans and if Weight was fot would probably of not been in squads this season. We are not losing games because he is not in squads and we can only pick 19 players who would of dropped out yesterday for him.

Regardless of that. There is no doubt Simms should be coming on ahead of Awoniyi. We need to be playing our players in the best form.

Finding players to drop out from yesterday’s 19 man squad to make room for Ellis Simms isn’t the most difficult mental challenge I’ve ever faced

Hes been told sign up or your not playing. This is a massive handicap ap to the team.

Arguably one of our better players vs Arsenal /Manchester City also.
Isn't that cutting off your nose to spite your face?

If a player is being disruptive and causing problems in the dressing room I can understand freezing them out. Doing it because they haven't signed a contract is surely counterproductive, and if anything more likely to make them not sign.

I think he seems similarly effective because he frustratingly plays within himself and is capable of more. He's almost apologetic about his abilities. I think lower PL is his limit though.

So the club have the right to be pissed off because a player refused a move that would have resulted in him being paid less?

Wouldn't Simms have the right to be pissed off at trying to be forced to accept a move that would see him earn less?

We dont know the contract terms or the facts.

I agree but that should tell everyone the truth about why he wasn't in it. It is not just a case of a balanced squad

I didn't say i agreed with either parties actions. I just posted what i was told. The player has the right to turn down deals or even extensions. But the club also have the right to make it known to the player that he can go and will not be happy of the deal breaks down due to the players decision. It happens at every club and players who decide to see out contracts are often made to feel uncomfortable, its known not even a secret. Every pro will of been involved in a situation or know of someone who is not in plans of a manager or club.

It was a good job we didn't sell him otherwise we would not have had cover at centre forward after Awoniyi stupidly got himself sent off. In any case, he is currently a far better option than Awoniyi off the bench but we know he is now not getting to get ahead of him.

I agree, but
We dont know the contract terms or the facts.

I got told Burnley and it was a big difference in loss of earnings. I dont blame Simms but i also see why he was not in plans. It wouldn't be my way as i like him as a player but i don't get paid to make decisions.

The answer will be i can only pick 19, but lets see next week if he is still looking in from the outside.

Awoniyi has a good record in the prem?

On one hand people are complaining about our championship players being given too much faith, on the other they want us to bin off £30m of new strikers after a handful of appearances to play Ellis fucking Simms!!

Not writing Awonyi off as he has a decent history to refer to.

But I think it’s an entirely reasonable comment to state his last two sub appearances have been to the detriment to the team.

Simms is frustrating, but I’d have him over Awonyi on current form - and it isn’t even close.

Unfair on Awonyi too btw - bringing him on to save a game when he’s clearly miles off it fitness wise.

One good season in the Prem and it wasn’t huge numbers. Forest fans all say he struggled for fitness, a couple of blues fans I know thought he was going there in the summer which might be his level.

6 prem league games for Cov, no points, no goals..runs like Alf Garnett.

Funny this amnesia us fans get. Wasn’t that long ago everyone was slagging him of saying he had the first touch of a trampoline and couldn't hit a barn door in the championship and now all of a sudden as we are struggling he's prime Pele and needs to start in the premiership.

It's not amnesia. It's looking at the situation in front of you.

Simms - previous game played scores a goal and look motivated and dangerous. Next game left on the bench and the one after that is dropped from the squad entirely.

Awoniyi - previous game played was ineffective and got stupidly sent off. First game back after suspension is brought on ahead of the player that scored in the previous game and plays terribly. Game after that gets another chance and is again terrible, while the other player gets dropped from the squad entirely.

Does that sound like consistent and sensible management to you?

Had it been the other way round and Simms had got sent off and been playing terribly while Awoniyi had scored but been dropped, I would be saying how stupid it is to play Simms instead of Awoniyi.

Best goal record last year, minutes played. We needed a premiership striker. We signed a totally unproven 19 yr old winger, occasional striker, who has played hardly any games and Forests 4th choice striker!

I'm guilty of it myself. The likes of Grimes, BTA and EMC have looked off the level required and then you've got the likes of Simms and Torp sat on the bench not getting hardly any game time and we think they're the answer. If EMC had barely played this season and the wingers haven't performed then I'm sure we'd be sat here saying something like 'he was class in the Championship last season and could make the step up to the Prem'. Myself included.

I know they're got to be professional players but if I was Simms then I'd be pissed at what's happened so far this season.
