Transfer Rumour Ellis Simms Sale (1 Viewer)

cant see anything about Cherif going to Barca or PSG

BTA may not be primarily be a striker but he can play in that position, he played 5 times up top last season either as a centre forward or second striker. In games like away at Arsenal I actuall think he'd do a decent job with us not having the ball a lot and his mobility. I'm not saying that's what i'd like to happen but it's an option people are just dismissing.

Nto in the premier league

Not at all, if you don't have a lot of the ball, the last thing you want is a striker that cannot hold it for you.

Well i don't think we'll be lumping long balls up to whoever does play up top to hold the ball up, that's not how Frank likes us to play.

Not as simple as "lumping long balls up". Our play will be different in a lot of matches this season, as we will have very little of the ball.

As I’ve said, of course he can, you don’t get picked up by a premier league youth set up if you can’t. It’s learning to use your body under pressure (usually from 6ft 3, 13-14 stone defenders) to ensure you can still maintain the control of the ball. Hes learned to do this far better recently and there’s no doubt they’ve also worked on the timing of his jumps. It’s almost like simms was a smaller player in a bigger man’s body when he arrived, I expected him to be a target man type but he wasn’t

I’ve personally always liked Wright coming from the left where he can bully full backs rather than get bullied by bigger defenders for similar reasons. Appreciate Lampard totally disagrees with me and obviously prefers he’s pace threat down the middle. I’ll let him have that one
I think it was more of a wheres the best I can play Haji to get the best return from him and apart from his lacklustre games he certainly produced with goals and Simms for all his failings certainly has goals in him but now we have moved to the hardest league in the world and we certaily need players that can produce performances on a more regular basis if that includes the likes of Simms and Haji and it works great but sadly I think we are moving rightly on with better quality players ...time will tell

I don't actually think he will play there, i'm just saying people who think he can't play there are wrong as he obviously can.

Most of our squad is unproven at PL level tbf, Cherif is no different.

Even those with a little top flight experience weren't impressive at that level.

Simms had a few brief outings, mainly from the bench for Everton and was then sold to the Championship.
Grimes had a few minutes before getting relegated.
Woolfy played only 15 times in the top flight then got a relegation on his record
Hamer 1 season 1 relegation
B
Thomas and Rushworth never got a game despite being at PL clubs, I could go on ....

The point being that a lack of PL experience is where our squad is, only Onyeka has any extensive experience.

Cherif looks to have amazing talent and he will 100% be unleashed when the time is right, maybe sooner than people expect.
Hes going to be a beast!

Being young and talented can be a good thing, no fear.

I seem to have missed how, when and where Haji Wright sustained such a major injury. Can anyone enlighten me?

He played there 67 mins of the first game last season and that’s it.

I expect Asante will stay. Can play on either wing, 10 and striker. Works tirelessly out of possession and seems to be a bit of a leader in the squad. Lots of new faces in this summer we need to make sure we don’t lose the togetherness that made us so good last year.

Would prefer Simms to BTA but unless Simms signs a new contract.

Not sure how comfortable the club would be with him potentially walking away for free

Simms was probably a little unlucky last season. Scored goals when he was called upon and when he earned his starting place Frank would ship him out after a poor display (Ipswich away was one I remember) and Haji was back in. From January last season, it seems Frank started to get through to him. He was a really effective sub when he came on. Ellis shows flashes of being unplayable. Strong, quick, and a fine finisher. This is his chance now. I want him to start at The Emirates tonight. He will know Taiwo and Cherif are waiting in the wings, and of course Haji in a couple of months.

This needs a bump.

Its gotta be instruction from the top King for him not to be in Squad after a scoring vs Newcastle.

There's no way it's on King's instructions.

It's quite clear Lampard does not rate him and he'll probably leave in January. When Wright is back he'll be 4th choice striker in a one striker system.

Hes been told sign up or your not playing. This is a massive handicap ap to the team.

Arguably one of our better players vs Arsenal /Manchester City also.
Massive handicap 🤣

We’ve not spent £30m on Awoniyi and Cherif for them to sit on the bench and watch Simms.

Absolutely nothing to do with his contract.

Yes I'm sure King is telling him to leave out 2 wingers that cost a combined £35 million too.

I think Simms continued is both understandable and correct. He’s not as good as Cherif, Awoniyi or Wright. Or BTA for that matter
What a load shite.

Cheriff is the only striker that gets in ahead of Simms at the moment.

Awoniyi I dont know what's happened to him since his red card. Doesnt even look fit.
