Transfer Rumour Carl Rushworth - Permanent (8 Viewers)

Tbf,
1) havertz his positioning is poor
2) Saka poor hand straight to Saka
3) Odegard put on his arse and poppadom hands
4) exposed by miller but it was quite close to him. Kieran Westwood would have saved it back in the day.
5) poor positioning for cross for the man city goal
6) didn't even try to get the first goal
7) left a massive gap at the near post for the second
8) potentially could have been another step forward to narrow the angle for Ayari?

Nothing he could do about the Pen or Dunks goal.

We're talking fine margins here. Does a PL quality keeper stop some of those?

I'd imagine some of the other keepers in the league would have made some of the saves listed (Vebruggen yesterday looked very good), but I also think Rushworth will prove to be a Premier League quality keeper this year.

Saw enough from him last season to see he’s a quality keeper. Previous player of the season at other loan clubs as well,

Doesn’t look at his best at moment and I’d imagine the pissing about all summer didn’t help but confident he’ll return to top form as season progresses. As Parks said, didn’t look great at the start of last season as well but look how that turned out

This is so bizarre for me. What goal are we saying he should have saved yesterday? Just for the record I wasn’t as obsessed as everyone else in the summer that we had to buy him, but he is not to blame for where we are by any stretch.

He was the same at the start of last year and soon became better.

The solution is quite easy for Rushworth, we have no choice not to play him. Its not as if we are gonna play Bentley or Wilson

Once we start chopping keepers for each mistake, that usually spells the end of days!
Don't really want to see Wilson or Bentley in goal in the league

If we didn’t sign Rushworth.. the fans would’ve be baying for Kings blood

Sign the contract du du du du
Not so sure at the point in the break between seasons there was plenty of conjecture on here looking at alternatives, anyway it's a moot point,

He's not thrown any in the net, but could he have done better for some this season? Definitely.

Verbruggen kept them in the game yesterday, that's the difference. He made several outstanding saves which our keeper didn't. That's the level we are at now.

My estimation of the player is to reset and Push your chest out the same as last week!

I doubt anyone would give a fuck by now

We have into fan power to sign Lee Mills - went well

No-one's suggesting he be dropped.

Clearly we are not playing well, particularly as a defensive unit and there dosent seem to be the same unity or harmony...?.

Rushworth definitely seems out of sorts to me. Second half he seriously vented at MVE for giving up a chance on the inside (rightly so). Both Thomas and MVE looked shocked.

His Confidence looks low. PL is obviously a big step up and he is looking exposed and having to deal with the extra scrutiny which comes with the territory and price tag.

For me, the biggest issue is his distribution, which has been woeful, primarily off the ground, and I would say unacceptable for the PL. Again yesterday there were so many misplaced kicks and he is also not getting the same distance on them as previous. Given we deliberately went long rather than build from the back, It was another contributor as to why the ball was coming back into our defensive half so quickly.

Seems to me he has changed his kicking technique.

Whatever the situation he needs to put his big boy pants on and find his form and levels asap. We have no alternative and it is an absolute key position

It's the aimless kicking for me. Yesterday the one time we actually kept it across midfield, then to the defenders who went back to Rush. He just booted it, they won the first header and were through again.

He looked crestfallen yesterday. His head was down way before 90 minutes and that is a bigger worry than conceding for me.

We definitely overpaid but we obviously went for him because of how important he is the dressing room.

He had a slowish start last season too. Hopefully he gets a clean sheet asap and the confidence comes because we know he has the ability.

Like all of them (and us fans), we need confidence. A fucking goal would help. People scoff now when its mentioned but Rushworth did have 2-3 games at the start of last season where he looked slightly hesitant. We have to hope he, and the others get that confidence.

We have to score and it goes from there.

I get we’re struggling etc. I think we’re going down, but the brain rot to just pick on every player just because is crazy. I think I forgot how insane this forum is bad when things go wrong.

Yep, always got to be someone’s fault….and Eccles, wright and Simms weren’t in the squad so just windmilling.

The fact is the team as a whole just hasn’t been quite good enough. Thomas (pen), Amenda (hesitant for second) and Pinnock (first goal) could possibly have all have done a bit better. Rudi and EMC had good chances to score which they didn’t take, Awonyi was needlessly sent off. That’s before you go into general player performances

I don’t think any individuals are particularly to blame for our current situation, it’s a team game and collectively we need everyone to step up and be better to turn things round

Blimey, a nuanced and thought through analysis! Agree with all of that. Would also add how tactics play into strengths of our players too, but yes ultimately it just might be that they are not good enough. Someone has to be in the bottom three and it looks likely to be us. To be clear I think it’s fine to say players should be dropped etc based on actual analysis etc, but to pick on the goalkeeper just cause we’re losing is very reactionary.

I’d like to think that every single player will improve as the season goes on and honestly don’t think many are currently playing anywhere near what I think they could do. Just hope damaged confidence doesn’t stop this from happening

That’s not nuanced at all. Nuance means analysis by subjectively and looking for positives and negatives.

That was just pure positive verging on happy clappy.

How is saying that the team as a whole haven’t been quite good enough and picking out errors by serval players across the team pure positive/happy clappy ?!

Bizarre

As noted previously, it’s incredible how these losses lead to brain rot. It’s like people aren’t even engaging with the posts and just putting anything that satisfies their anger.

I think you need to read the post again.

Who said his distribution is terrible?

Pinpoint ball for the goal on something they’ve been practicing in training.

Currently our top assist holder…
Started last season slowly in the Championship and ended up our clear player of the season

Started this season slowly ……….
