Transfer Rumour Summer Transfer Window 2026 (17 Viewers)

There’s about an even split between people coping about this recruitment and those who realise where it’s headed.

Expect that balance to shift in a couple of months when we’re rock bottom playing BTA out on the left and an 18 year old CB at left back.

Thankfully Amenda and Yirenkyi should fetch big money next summer, and a Rushworth buy back will round off at least £100 million in income.

It’s 2 matches in but so far Amenda, Yirenki, and Tchouna look very encouraging. Pinnock and Iwonyi bring experience . Cherif is very highly rated by some very good judges of a player. Mfuni has been described by Watford fans as the best loan player they have EVER had and has featured for Man Cuty under Pep and Maresca who can judge a player.

If we struggle this year it might not prove the recruitment was wrong it might simply prove the economic gap between the championship and the Premier league is too big to bridge in one summer.

I’m not concerned or critical about going down, I am concerned with not embarrassing ourselves.

There is a dangerous mix here of incomplete recruitment and unsuitable tactics, ie Southampton 24/25.

unfortunately, this reads as:

'hmmm I am very intelligent 🤔 Wait until I say I told you so hmmm yes very clever'

There’s nothing in there about intelligence, it’s my opinion about where things will go in the next few months.

We need a back up LW yes but that isn't going be what defines if we go up or down.

Also Lampard isn't stupid, Austin isn't Stupid and King isn't stupid and is the current system isn't working it will change. Remember that came in and try to play one way and it didn't work so set us up to stink out wins and we ended up in the play offs even though the usual suspects were talking of our impending relegation.

We will probably get relegated this year, so will Hull and Ipswich.

Hull will not be able to keep winning games, Ipswich unlessthey seriously fix their defence could be in big trouble as well.

It's the tone, man

emotive language (cope) for those you disagree with that makes it sound like that unfortunately

I get what you're saying but it's just another post of 'doom monger so you can appear right' personally hate it

When we are bottom with 3 points after 20 games half this forum will still tell you its too early to judge how the window went.

I can’t think of a better word than cope when I think some are trying to convince themselves the squad’s in better shape than it is.

I’ve been reliably doom mongering on here since late 2020

It was interesting that Ipswich against Utd like us only had 1 new signing in defence otherwise it’s a champ back line

It is becoming a bit silly really. Those who were told to wait until the end of the window in July were called bed wetters, and now we haven't signed for those positions we are called doom mongerers. We may well do ok, but we seem to have glaring weaknesses, where if posters were told we would have certain players at the end of last year they would have wanted to upgrade.

I agree, Hull being that Championship isn't sustainable over a season and that Ipswich defence is absolute piss at this level, they could sort it today though.
I always knew we'd likely be relegated from the start but I cannot tolerate being one of those embarrassing teams that's a complete laughing stock if that's where this is heading. I had a great time laughing at Sheffield United for their last pathetic attempt at the Prem. We cannot be that team.

This is my fear. Money always wins and creates a closed shop unless you are lucky. Several teams have all been up and down multiple times in recent years and benefit parachute payments to give them a better chance the second time around

The people who were saying we don’t need to make many signings to stay up have now pivoted to saying ‘we were always likely to go down no matter what we did’ lol

We've brought 5 players with hope theyll make us money in a year or 2. Imo is a concern if they don't. Think we needed a diop lukic Iroegbunam type players to be more solid

Femi Azeez to Brighton for around 12m will be interesting, really liked him last season. To think we paid quite a bit more for Tchaouna who is only a couple of years younger...

I’d take Wijnaldum on a free, we were linked to him at the start of the summer. Give us some experience and know how in the middle.

Watched Barkley last night and he was so slick in midfield the way he passed it around was progressive. Grimes unfortunately just doesn’t give us that in the PL.

We have no one who can score a decent percentage of Premier League goals from a relatively small number of chances. Therefore, we are highly likely to comfortably be relegated.

Wages be a big old stumbling block no doubt, but exactly the type of signing we need in there.

Probably not much more to be honest.

It’s all about bouncing back with and being in a stronger financial position next time round

I think a lot of people are rightly having a positive outlook, 2 games in.

Really hard to reliably say what level we as a team and signings are at, after such a small sample size.

I like to give the team a chance, rather than feel disappointed or frustrated so early on.

In terms of In's I personally think we are done.

Roughly 120m spent which is not too shabby and some quality and high potential amongst them. At the moment though I'm not sure we know what our favoured and most effective starting XI is, although FL and his staff should.

I dont believe we have cover for a couple of key positions with only compromise options if we see injuries or loss of form.

I think the lack of outgoings is far more telling of our future planning, than more incomings.

Despite the underwhelming start, particularly after the last preseason games, I'm looking forward to the season ~ if we can keep key players fit then I think we can challenge for 17th.

Also we don't know how Azeez will operate at this level. If we signed him we'd 100% have people on here moaning about signing Championship players so I'm not having that really.

Should have signed him when at Reading like this genius suggested though 😉

It's the speed of the passes and how many are one touch. Grimes just takes that extra touch which can't be done in this league unfortunately

Hamer is the only midfielder we’ve got who seems to be able to play at any pace and he’s seemingly unfit.
