Mendy and the keeper are genuinely the only Hull signings I would take really. When you add in the fact our squad was already on paper a lot better, it shows how much of a fuck up it was losing what is likely the only game we'll be favourites in all season.
Ipswich will probably spend about £100 million more than us when all said and done so you would hope it is better!

The main issue really is that Hull seem to have accepted what they are at this level and are playing accordingly. We clearly need to pivot but probably haven't recruited for that pivot. Its a bit of a mess but I'll just cross my fingers and hope for the best.

We've just brought players Doug thinks we can make a few quid on and we are disjointed as fuck

Have we? They've got a game plan and have brought for that way. We're being to sentimental to players who got us here. And aren't quick enough or strong enough for this league

No but it is reasonable to say that we won the league with a mid table wage bill (lower than Ipswich and Hull) so arguably a lot of work to do and work that may take more than one window (and potentially a relegation/promotion cycle. Hard to get players in that improve you, have resale value and fit within the wage/transfer budget. We should be grateful for where we are. And maybe have faith in the collective team that has got us this far.

They have recruited to a game plan but the players are pretty shit.

Yes they beat us but that was on us and there is absolutely no way they can keep this up all season.

I actually disagree. They have played their championship team for the first two games but their signings point to a new system (or maybe reverting back to a 4-3-3 from earlier last year)

Also they’ve signed more players to make a profit on than us, the only players they’ve signed over 24 are Geldhart, Mortita, Butland and Targett.

But there game plan hasn't changed from last season. So they're drilled to play the same way and it was effective. We tried to play football at arsenal and was mobbed. We played at home against hull and didn't create anything apart from a half chance that bounced off his knee and an international keeper will save all day long
 
Window has been fucked right at the last. Why get an unproven kid on loan when we may have got Bard with experience. It started so well but we have ended with a whimper and we play Man City next ffs

That’s not true though is it.

We have clearly gone for greater athleticism, pace and power with a nice combination of highly rated young players and proven experience.. They are all still good on the ball.

Not dissimilar to the strategy Sunderland adopted.

There’s about an even split between people coping about this recruitment and those who realise where it’s headed.

Expect that balance to shift in a couple of months when we’re rock bottom playing BTA out on the left and an 18 year old CB at left back.

Thankfully Amenda and Yirenkyi should fetch big money next summer, and a Rushworth buy back will round off at least £100 million in income.
 
Yeah. In all honesty we have to gel the squad we have now with all the new faces. That has to be Franks priority which it will be. I don't think we will get anything Saturday but I am looking forward to seeing how we have progressed as a team with a week more together

I think they'll get found out pretty soon but you have to say fair play so far. Also if Sakamoto did what he fucking should have the talk around 'did a job on us' would shift to 'came to stink out a point from the start and got a point.'

I do have to join in with the more famous forum whingers somewhat on this though. Too sentimental with certain players that shouldn't still be here. Continued neglect of LB position is weird. Should have upgraded Grimes, way too much trust put in him. BTA coming on at LW is completely unacceptable. Apart from that its been fab..

It’s not clear what his tactical plan even is. It’s different to last season, that’s about all I can work out.

Should have recruited to be defensively robust and hit on the break.

Based on an interview where Lampard didn't actually say no new signings.

Maybe there will and maybe there won't but Andy Turner doesn't know what we will do.
 
Doesnt look like any signings. Glad we are moving some out. Some glaring places we needed to fill but haven't

We will see if its enough.
 
I will start to get twitchy if we are 6 games in and still having the same conversation
