Last season you loved telling us how poor our squad was and kept laying the boot in when we suffered with injuries at the same time that the virus ripped through our squad and we had the suspensions in the defence.

Other than having to play in Northampton and then Birmingham my lowest time was 2018 in league 2 losing at home to Yeovil 2-6 when chasing a playoff place. The only time we haven't finished higher than the season before was when we got as close to an FA cup final as you could get. This isn't being grateful. It's being realistic. We didn't even see when we would make it back to the Championship let alone the Prem.

It isn't going to be easy staying up this season. What we need is everyone pulling in the same direction. But as always there's always some waiting to lay the boot in.

I'm not too bothered if we stay up or not. We will either be a big fish in a small pond in the Championship, or a small fish in the ocean in the Prem. It's good playing some of the best sides in Europe, but it's also great winning games.

You said similar before we started last season. What we have done is strengthened several positions. We have spent a massive amount. We didn't have a player like Sunderland last season that was sold for a lot of money. Again we have kept our best players. If we do go back down we will sell a few, but we will go down much stronger than last season.

I will make my decisions on our chances once we're not playing away to the best sides and our new players are up to speed.

Its amazing how people talk about Sunderlands spend but totally ignore the fact they're a bigger club with more matchday revenue and the big wad of cash they took in from player sales.

Im not fussed about going down as lets be honest that was a nailed on probability before the window even opened. What I want is to not be humiliated and put us on good footing to return in 28.

The reason I am in team glass half empty is because we have spent 120M on new players yet have glaring gaps in the squad with players who shouldn't be near a top half championship team let alone the PL. And that's not to disparage them because they have worked wonders for us - but the prospect of Bidwell, Lati, BTA etc having rings ran around them every week is pretty sad tbh.

Its mostly the gaps im concerned with, as I think the business we have actually done is decent, although I do fear we have overpaid for a few of them.

King always wings it with huge gaps in the squad which Lampard has performed miracles to overcome. We wont get away with it at this level and this will come back to bite him.
