Arsenal tickets

One suspects you’re not a chosen one (1500+).

1500+ is large enough that captures a significant portion of the most loyal fans of recent years. The only way to make the ballot ‘fairer’ is extend to 20% allocation and tier the ballot as they do with the ETSC and other bigger clubs.
I was going to around ¾ of away matches the last 3 seasons, now I'll be lucky to get to any with my measly 1400 points. What is the ETSC, is that not what I mentioned about tierng the ballot?

ESTC is England Supporters Travel Club - does 70% on points and 30% on ballot. Has been like this or similar for 20+ years. Has worked well, enough tickets in ballot to get up ladder.

I mentioned this on here a couple of years ago and got ridiculed but I think it works well - difference with ESTC is you have to collect away tickets in person and have to scan in for Home games at Wembley so there is less scope for abuse.

I personally think that is the biggest problem with the CCFC one, ability to buy, get points and not attend. With digital tickets, this should be easy to address so hopefully the club gets onto it.

Plymouth will be half-empty if they don’t.

The 10am Ballot deadline window has been and gone. I wonder whether there might be a v.small number of tickets not purchased that will be re-released to 1400+?

Clutching at straws I reckon. Why wouldn’t the successful balloters buy their ticket…

Some people would have breakdown if we were like teams like Man United where the ticket interest outweighs the actually number of tickets by so much that even if you have the required points you need up in a ballot anyway

I can guarantee you there will be absolutely no need for a ballot system if we find ourselves back in The Championship this time next year

I find myself on 1560 points, I have ruled myself out of Bournemouth away in December and most likely when we play Brentford - I am at peace with that, there are people who have attended more games than me who deserve first dibs on a ticket more than me - If Arsenal is anything to go off I should be alright for the 3000 away end matches

Up until February this year away matches at Coventry City have never ever been a 'closed shop' - Everyone has had the chance to get their points tally up to a decent level and the people who took that chance are going to be paid their dividends this season, good on them

Yes, just 10 points.

10 points added yesterday
10 more points added this morning, must have been admin error seem to be updating now.

The ETSC is England away games. No, it’s not what you mentioned because 70 or 80% of the ‘top cappers’ are guaranteed tickets. The there’s a small ballot of those close to the cut off and then remaining allocation is random.

Whatever system you choose, you have to reward the most committed of your fanbase, otherwise, what’s the point?

No one will be complaining about the points system when it comes to a midweek game v Ipswich in January. It’s the same conversation year in, year out and only gets wheeled out when unfortunate sons miss out on a big game… Never when it’s a Lancashire midweek game.

Haven't read through the whole thread yet, so apologies if this has been mentioned... but surely the best thing the club should do is when the Ticket info is put out, they should have a cut off for eligibility.

So the tickets go on sale for those on 1500+ before the announcement.... Any points accrued between then and the tickets go on sale, aren't credited until afterwards. Stops people buying tickets/memberships to jump up a band, and throwing their calculations off.

Expecting Plymouth to sell out very early for people jumping to get their points, and either selling on or a half empty away end

Always someone crying about away tickets.

Unless you got piss wet through at FGR or Newport none of your points count in the super fan supporters league.
The rain at FGR wasnt the issue, it was the walk up the hill and the absolutely dire football and atmosphere that was. The rain just topped off and all round shit away day.

Yes but most of them live in London or Ireland

The caveat with the ETSC is that it has 40,000 members and all the away games will sell out and early because every away allocation will be oversubscribed. The only away game I could’ve got a ticket for was Andorra away in Barcelona in 2025. Sod’s Law would have it that I was on holiday with the Mrs.

Even last season, our away games regularly went close to general sale so there actually wasn’t a need for a ballot back then. I’m not sure there even needs to be one now and think they’ve struck a good balance.

I’m in the ESTC and it’s still not perfect and there will never be enough tickets for everyone that wants to go.

The ESTC is also heavily regulated and there is still an issue with the ballot size (already 30%) not being enough for 20K applying for 3K away end tickets and top cappers are more bothered about protecting their points than watching the team.

Hence many top cappers went to the warm up friendlies (where you get points) in the US but didn’t do the World Cup (no points allocated for tournaments as they’re treated as a reward). Which IMO is pathetic.

It’s tiring how many on here moan about not getting tickets for the big games. You had the chance to earn points like every other fucker but didn’t want to put the miles in.

20 points for Arsenal is crazy, it was always selling out, hardly like there was a incentive needed to go
Changing the scoring system will be next on the agenda imo.

I’m vaguely aware that Chelsea have a tiered points for games e.g. v low points for big rivalry games and higher points for Wimbledon at home in the Carabao Cup or something.

I get the motivation for doing this from your point of view but why would the club want to actively put people off spending money on tickets & memberships?

They would be better off just upping the cut-off to the next highest band to account for that sort of activity. This would have the added bonus (for them at least) of more people trying to inflate their tally.

It's less likely to be an issue now that the majority of people that want them have brought memberships and points from ticket sales for away matches are going to be restricted to movement within the higher bands anyway.

I don't necessarily agree with the way points are awarded but it's a set formula. Its not 20 points for arsenal, its 10 points for a away game and 10 points for a midweek.

I do think it could be done better though.

Fans have had the opportunity to build points over the past 3-4 seasons when plenty of unfashionable games didn’t sell out.

Those on 1500 points plus deserve every opportunity to have their tickets guaranteed

Someone on here does a spreadsheet of the away tickets, what points bracket they got to, etc. A couple of years ago 13 away games made it to general sale! So definitely plenty of opportunity over the last 3 / 4 seasons. The first away game at Derby last season went down to 900 points

Just a shit day all round that one.

Winter away game at a literal village team, massive hill, facilities just a little tent, away end a few steps along the pitch, shit football, shit atmosphere, loads of agro between the away fans.

Exactly, anyone on the outside will moan about it. I’m yet to be successful in an ETSC ballot and I’ve applied for about 8-10.

The system isn’t designed to be fair for everyone, it is designed to incentivise loyalty. Why else sell memberships and points for friendlies? If everything is random, why else go the extra mile...

It's easy to administer and the problem with categorising fixtures is that there could be inconsistencies and contexts that shift over the season.

E.g. Hull away in April could be massive game in the relegation battle, should that be a higher category game in line with say, Villa away?

I built my points from 1000ish in 24/25 and missed getting a ticket in my own name for Watford away. Now I'm on 2000+ so there's definitely been plenty of opportunity to move up the points brackets.

First points awarded were back dated for season 19/20,
Season ticket for Covid season 20/21 earned 300 points, multiple tickets to household only needing one subscription to I follow.
Season 21/22, 10 off the first 21 away games sold out, 11 games going to general sale and not selling out.
Just a glimpse to how fans in the highest points band earned their points.
Met a super fan last week who is looking to do 2/3 away games this season, accepting he will have to corporate or away end. Remember him asking me why I followed the team all over the country when in division two, cause the football was shit, he had given up having season tickets for 5/6 years. My reply was it’s what fan do, support your team when needed.
Now the rolling 4 year points system has allowed me to continue following the team through the good times.

Your debating something I haven't said, I stated I think the points system has issues. My point was however badly it is calculated, it's a pre defined system. So the person saying 20 points for arsenal is mad (because its a desirable game points shouldn't need to be rewarded) is wrong as its not for arsenal its just part of whats been defined. It could well be Hull away on a Friday and be 20points.

Again I think there are issues with the points system.

Why do people think the raw point numbers actually matter? e.g. moaning that those on 1500+ are getting 'further away' lol

The points system is essentially just a virtual queueing system (split up into batches of 100 points for convenience)

They released the bands - there are circa 2700 people on 1500+ - therefore, for a 3,000 allocation game, if they want to go, they will take all the tickets. As someone on 1400+ you are essentially at position 2,7XX in the queue and hoping that someone in front of you drops out and doesn't want to go. It doesn't really matter what the actual points totals are.

As the season goes on tickets will make their way down the brackets - e.g. Ipswich away, 8pm Wed 6 Jan. Suspect that won't have the uptake that Arsenal and Man City will.

20 points for Arsenal is crazy, it was always selling out, hardly like there was a incentive needed to go

It has nothing to do with incentive. It is about logistics. All midweek away games have been 20 pointers and rightly so.

Looks like the Arsenal game is completely removed from the ticketing website now. Not sure whether that means they're preparing for a handful to go back on sale or ballot winner tickets have now sold out.

So you think a Tuesday night away at Middlesborough should be classed the same as a midweek game at Aston Villa, Leicester Birmingham etc?

Yes, I do. There has to be an arbitary number of points awarded. Are you saying the Club should have a mileage chart and work out points depending on how far away a game is? That's nonsense. It would have to happen to a weekend game then too?

The system is simple. I've already decided I'm not going to Plymouth away, so it's an opportunity for someone lower down to grab the tickets. And, they'll get 20 points.
