It'll be more similar to the team that played vs Blackburn i think. I'd bring Eccles into the team like against Brum and have BTA starting wide instead of either Sakamoto or EMC, don't mind which.

I was more confident about this game than last nights, I'll stick to that. I think we'll win but last night shows a game can be turned on its head with one defensive mistake.

As long as we play the way that we have and don't underestimate them, we'll have too much.

Brilliant that we managed to rotate at Pompey. As well as Simms did, and I'd back him for more starts away, I think in these games it has to be Haji up top.

Rushworth
Mve Thomas Kitching Da Silva
Grimes Torp
Saka BTA EMC
Haji

However, happy for Frank and his team to do the homework on Watford, the 3 CB system also works well for us so we just have to trust his judgement

Watford have been pretty ropey away from home so far this season. Hopefully something we can capitalise on.
Weird team who always seem to have a couple of really good players but overall aren't very good. Chakvetadze out with long term injury i think, Irankunda can be a threat and Louza is class in midfield (i'd take him in Jan now i think about it) but other than that you have to think we've got too much right now.

They're very lopsided as a Starting XI. Quality in some areas and just crap in others.

Definitely need to keep Louza quiet, he impressed last season and can dictate a game if he's given half a chance.

Irankunda - talented but crap discipline. If I were Kitching I'd be looking to try to get in his head from the off.

nice that we get an extra days rest than them too, with them having a difficult fixture against WBA tonight

I expect Frank and coaching staff will be watching their game closely tonight.

Will be tight.. they have their threats.

Back to back 4.

Haji in for Simms.

Watford can be a dangerous team when they're on their game. Some great attacking players. Surely Sakamoto and Wright come back in. Simms doesn't deserve to be dropped, and nor does The Woolf but Frank clearly rested both last night with Saturday's game in mind. Outside chance Rudoni is on the bench? Eccles wasn't used last night either, so perhaps he might be a starter

I would revert to 4 at back but either way I expect us to win
Yeah, definitely back to a back 4 for me! Far too often lastnight Pompey had far to much space in and around our box. How, with an extra defender did they end up with more space? Surely there should've been less?

Its almost as if they weren't 100% sure on their roles and who was marking who. Like they all thought somebody else was marking him instead. "Wasn't my man" sort of thing! With better finishing, we could've maybe been in a spot of bother.

I also feel it kept Grimes out of large parts of the game and his usual sitting in between Thomas and Kitch picking passes wasnt there so much.

There was a point where he dropped in to receive the ball and we had a line of 6 across the back.

Who's Rudoni? :))

Found the build up to it on their forum quite interesting. The OP is pretty well written, but the predictions are also quite telling. Seems a question of which Watford turns up.

It’s bizarre that he thinks we play 3-4-3. We’ve used that for about 10% of our season so far so he’s clearly posting on the basis of very little real knowledge.

Yeah that part is absurd, but I was looking more at what he’d written about their own performances. A lot like their faith in managers, very unpredictable and never long term.
