Still think Kitching would make a reasonable No.9.
A sort of Kenny Burns in reverse.
Kitching is a good header of the ball, he gets in the opponent's faces, his passing isn't too bad, and he probably has a powerful shot.
With the amount of crosses we get over, we desperately need another Mick Ferguson type.
We've seen when he decides to run forward, he is fairly quick on the ball. He is used to stretching out for crossed balls when defending.
We don't have much to lose, atm. The position is vacant.

Most important thing for me against a very good side was we didn't look weaker after the changes. And those who came on impressed, the signings look good and seem to of fitted in well.

Andrews and Perry are the ones we as fans should be really happy about. Those 2 lads look like they have more than enough to play high level football. That for any squad is essential and in many ways a key to being a successful club. I also wouldn't be shocked to see Batanwi and Yern making appearances at Ryton training with the 1st team at some point in the near future.

Rodriguez needs to buckle down and we need to see if his potential can translate to being mature enough to handle the expectations ask of him. FL will evaluate his attitude to disappointments very quickly. Norm is finding out that transfer fees mean nothing and a few good game doesn't give you the right to swan around thinking you have the right to a shirt.I think FL and his coaches know a good player, but they know good players only fet better with a good attitude to train, work hard and see the bigger picture.

The emergence of Perry is pretty amazing. He's always in the u21 line ups but I just assumed he was going to be released, like the likes of Ngandu, Bapaga etc

Yes the window closes at the end of August but the season starts next Saturday. 3 or 4 matches before then and 12 points up for grabs that we want

Albeit, it was a short cameo in a friendly but I thought Perry was excellent. Composed, brave in the tackle, and distributed the ball well. Hopefully he gets a decent loan this season. Could be one to watch for the coming years.
It was, but you would have to worry with his size coming up against some lumps of Championship clubs number 9s. A Kieffer Moore, A Emil Riis, A George Hirst etc.

Lots to be excited about with him though.

Missed the game through work commitments, did KHH play any minutes at LB or was it a straight swap for MVE ? looks like we may be starting the season with the best 2 RB's in the division

He won't be anywhere near ready for the Championship. Performing well in a nothing friendly is one thing, over a 46 game competitive season at a high level is another. A loan for him this season is the best thing for his development.

But there's clearly a lot to work with which is a positive.

Thing is with young players you never know until you put them in with the men, where they are in comparison to what you have. Both look to have good futures, but early days and will need opportunities to get minutes. FL wil decide the best and fastest pathway for them in the quickest time possible.

Is
Thoughts on Raphael ?
The squad desperately needs a sub option for Saka to close out a game safely. Could this be Rapha's year now he's settled, could be.

I wasn't sure how many subs Real Betis used, I thought it was less than us but actually they used 9 like City did their website confirms.

Real Betis Balompié: Pau López, Bellerín, Bartra, Natan, Ricardo, Fornals, Mawuli, Aitor Ruibal, Lo Celso, Riquelme, Cucho Hernández. Second half subs: Junior, Pablo García, Altimira, Valentín Gómez, Chimy Ávila, Bakambu, Ángel Ortiz y Morante.
