I tell you what, I wish there was the same desire to just pay Gyokeres what he wants...
The reason there isn't is because he would undoubtedly want way over the rumoured figure Hamer is asking, if he could be tempted to sign a new contract at all. Also Hamer has more of an all round effect on the team - he creates chances, he scores goals, he can tackle and do defensive work. Gyok you know 90% of what he will offer is strength to hold the ball up and then trying to drive towards goal from the left hand side. Nothing wrong with that, and he does it well, but it does become a little one dimensional.

There's not many saying pay Hamer what he wants. There's quite a few saying £20k pw is acceptable given his ability. I doubt many would go as high as £25k - I'd certainly be a bit wary getting up to those sort of figures.

£25k from £20k is a smaller %age increase than £20k from £15k.

I mean, it's an utter nonsense deciding £20k is OK but £25k isn't, that's just ludicrous guesswork and arbitrary decision making.

I guess that explains why we are talking a record transfer fee for one dimensional Gyokeres and no mention for hamer

He’s the least one dimensional striker I’ve seen at the club for the 50 years I’ve watched them

I hadn't even read that bit(!) My word.

But hey, the replacement'll be just like Charlie Wakefield!

Where's the word lunacy come from? I just think it's unlikely. Not every opinion has to be so extreme.

And no. In fact I was one who was always saying Walsh had no record of performing in the Championship and his injuries would have made him a very risky signing.
I said it here, though it was a bit hyperbole.
Or Hamer could go on to have an injury free season while every single one of the players we bring in gets injured? Why sign anyone because there's a risk they might get injured or just not do well.

And the chance of us spreading out the Hamer cash and bringing in someone of even close to a similar level is extremely small. To think we'd get two is optimism bordering on lunacy.

If hamer dealt in Kool Aid and found an island hed make more money than if Man City signed him

MR can’t keep working wonders

you won’t make the play offs in 3 out of 5 seasons if you don’t keep your best players

I appreciate the gyokeres arguement because he’s destined to go

If a Club wants to succeed you can't keep having to rebuild the team every season.

Exactly, back in the day we bought Mick Harford who played one game, scored and never kicked a ball for us again.
Yet made a miraculous recovery, dropped back into midfield and remained a top-flight regular for 2 years at Wimbledon. Tough man.

This is actually what most teams have to do. We’re all selling clubs but unless you’re a top 6 premier league team, youll lose players

Historically a more successful club aswell - yes they’ve had a few bad years, but they own Ewood park for a start.

we might be off on our travels in 5 years time

even if you take Blackburn out the other mentioned clubs are far more attractive
So how come Man City are so succesful they dont own their ground?

City will only offer 16k a week. Gus wants 20k. Club have said they won’t budge on the 16. Clubs are now coming in for him including Prem

if that’s true. 4k a week…. Ffs

so an extra 16k a month or almost 200k a year for the best midfielder in the championship or one of them. We are going to pocket almost 20m from Vik. Just seems stupid

the issue for me, if the club don’t budge on 16k and prem teams are making enquires, he along with the club have a decision to make. Does he stay one more year and hope we get promoted or do the club try and cash in on him.

Didn’t we do this with Gary Breen - didn’t he want £25k and we wouldn’t budge on 20?… he then left

What is your source (if you are comfortable to say)? Must admit I am a bit skeptical and I'd be extremely disappointed if this is the case. That difference is chicken feed overall.
