It's different now, but by around 2009-10, the corner was busy. The Leicester, Birmingham and Leeds games were always rowdy up there.

I remember a game against West Brom as well being noisy. Think it was a draw?

Rowdy yes, but not people attacking each other in the stands, which has given the authorities the excuse they need to start withholding tickets

Most modern atmospheric areas in football stadia are next to away fans. You need it for the 'banter'.

Block 14 and 15 really got going around 2009. I remember when we beat Birmingham 1-0. Not as full as now but it was electric.

Then when we played Blackburn in the FA Cup, it's was incredible. Must have been 3 people to a seat up there at that time.
Sorry the banter word has been cancelled - not allowed 🚫

Wasnt The Kippax at Maine Rd situated at the side of the stadium and the old Kop at St Andrews which were the rowdy areas, I think it's quite unique that ours is in the corner!

Course but that one fan has now limited 2000 fans.

There was more trouble at other games. Even the Chelsea game I remember stupid amounts of bottles being thrown. Way more than the Derby game.

Yeah I remember a good few bottles and coins being thrown from our end into the Chelsea fans.

Always remember one Chelsea fan with glasses, rightly so, shouting what the fuck are you doing there’s woman and kids in here.

We had proper little club syndrome for that game.

Agreed. Seemed to be so many 'up for it' throughout town.

It'll be interesting to see what the club do WHEN we're playing in the Premier League next season. Will they continue to reserve all behind the goal for away fans? Or will they split it 50/50 Cov/away as I can image the demand would be there for home fans.

If they do split behind the goal, the club need to advertise that section as the new standing/singing area and urge all the naughty corner to shuffle over a few blocks. It would completely kill any atmosphere if the standers/singers are still in the corner with two blocks of silent Coventry fans separating them and the away fans.

How was he allowed in with glasses?
Must have been a spectacle.

Cov chased Chelsea out of the West End one year in the 70's and every team that came to HR for rest of the season were greeted with a song." You'll get the same as Chelsea " I was about 13 at the time , so very impressionable.
Another one was "You'll never take the West End"
Man U did , pretty much every season.

They'll do what they did in the Gillingham and Crewe games. Give away fans 3000 squeezed into the corner towards the corporate end and then give Cov fans an extra few blocks.

Would help the atmosphere massively having those extra blocks for singers.

Interesting at Sheffield United today. Exiting the away end you walk directly into the oncoming Sheffield United fans.

No trouble.

At the Ricoh we need a 100m long 3 metre high fence splitting fans up. Are we just naughty boys?

No, it's just the idiots at the arena think keeping fans apart and directing them to the same area will sort it when the best thing to do is get as many fans to mix as quickly as possible

Yeah, Separating fans gives a clear 'us and them' divide. Coming out of the ground today I had no idea who to punch as we were all mixed together, So in the end I just didn't bother and went for a drink.

Fair play to Birmingham, they defo win the award for most 'up for it' fans at the Ricoh for many years.

Never seen so many chubby blokes and spotty teenaged all wearing then same jacket.

Funny

Heard it kicked off on the way to the cherry tree too

By Pizza hut. Birmingham fans picking off Coventry fans.

Kicked off before the game too. 20/30 bloos fans in balaclavas doing the 'Zulu' shite right outside Block 15. Didn't even well when they were totally outnumbered.

I'm impressed anyone kicked off with that many police about.

A few lads got jumped by about 10 blues fans in the car park after the underpass. They weirdly made a very big point of declaring they were the blues mob by constantly repeating “We’re the fucking blues”. Was almost like they weren’t the blues but wanted people to think they were. Didn’t see the very start but few cov lads were walking then running away and blues fans chased, punched and kicked them to the floor. Thankfully, once they were on the floor one of them ensured they didn’t take any more of a pasting. Just no need for it at all.

Yep pretty much what I heard really. Not sure if it's the same as by Tesco but it was very much Birmingham picking out Coventry fans. Knife involved as well apparently.

It’s easy for away fans no colours
to wander around in small groups and give home supporters a slap and then disappearing into the night giving it the Johnny concrete big one.
Almost certain more Cov got punched than Blues last night but at St.Andrews small groups of Cov will do the same. it’s all pathetic.

Not bad second half, but absolutely silent in the first.

They've been a lot better in the past.
Few of their fans on Twitter saying it was difficult to generate a good atmosphere with such a big following and saying Luton away (1100) was a much better atmosphere from their fans.

They were just largely shite but if that nonsense keeps them happy then so be it
