Surprised they haven't put a stop to that with Covid. How many different hands are touching those cups? Hopefully the vaccine will stop the inevitable rise in infections resulting in hospitalisations and deaths.

They should all be negative so I guess it doesn’t matter

Well since surface transmission has been debunked for months on end it will make no difference

Saw on the news last night about them disinfecting all the bars etc. As nice as it is to be hygienic, really no point in making a thing of it.

It has been debunked for a very long time now, it really needs to be dropped as something to mandate. It’s all about aerosols, not surfaces

Another test where I miss both Sibley innings. Guy is on a stinker of a run. Is there a technical flaw being exposed?

Just shit from top to bottom. Shit selection with a total lack of awareness of the conditions (this was Giles’ home patch)

When Broad and Anderson finally retire we have only Root, Stokes, Butler and Archer that would make it into other top test teams XI.

Dire day watching a pathetic Test performance - then decide to watch the T20 and perk up at watching a really talented 16 year old English leg spinner.

From memory... 1989 (Ashes tests) was the last summer where England did not win a test. Could easily happen this summer... At least with have the hundred to 'entertain' us!

fantastic day yesterday spoilt by 12 year old batting. Absolutely ripped through us, feel sorry for anyone who has tickets today

Batting rightly getting panned from all sides.
They've had this before when the likes of Bairstow and Buttler finally had to learn to build first. When people were screaming to get a "stodgy" number 3 in to balance all the shot makers. And for far too long it's too often been the likes of Woakes & a few others in the tail to bail out the top order. Saw a stat somewhere bottom of the league of major Test nations over last 5 years for getting over 400 in an innings.
Seems to be too much pressure from somewhere in the set-up to try & go at 4 an over in Test cricket.
Need to learn really fast or the Ashes will be an absolute drubbing.

It's the sort of thing you see on a Sunday or in village cricket, people coming in and not being able to resist swiping at everything. From club schmucks like me it's one thing, for internationals it's baffling

Village does sum up some of the batting. Honestly thought for some of the dismissals I could have been watching a T20 run chase.

We had a coach come to nets this week who basically said, rightly, that there's much more time in a 40-45 over match than you think. There's time to get yourself in, see out a decent bowler before going after bad deliveries. In a Test you've got even more time to build an innings, spend the day at the crease if you want.

Watch some of the "great" white ball batsmen and they still build an innings (even if they are in early during the powerplay). Accelerate through their innings.
England have so many coaches (may be too many) some obviously not doing their job properly. Other issue is Root really the right captain who can read the Riot Act to some of these batsmen?
