But scouted by Thorn. Thorn hasn't really made that many signings in his time as manager, so I presumed we'd include ones he scouted too

how do you know he scouted him?

He gave him more of a chance last season, but ROD didn't take it. And he couldn't have given him that chance earlier when AT first took over because of how bad his fitness was from being made to rot!

the only reason rod got a chance was because of injury's not because thorn liked him

In response to all your questions, I don't know for a fact Thorn scouted him but it's most likely he did. See my previous reply to NLHWC, of which you've probably already questioned me on also, for reasons on that.

How do you know he didn't? And How do you know ROD was only used due to injuries?

You don't do you!

You cann all moan if you never heard of him but a few weeks ago we would have had him so I welcome him. Even if only played a few games he has been around the top flight in France so hopefully knowledge gain to help us

No one can say for sure however as Thorn at the time was employed as a scout, I'd say it's 99% likely he recommended him to the club, especially how quickly it went through after AB's arrival
A quick research tells me there was over a month between Boothroyd being appointed and ROD signing so that isn't a very good argument

He was scouted by Thorn, he must have seen something in him.

Don't be silly he couldn't have scouted him as he is a dud. He did scout David Bell though. No hiding place there.

yes i do because none of our other strikers were even on the bench and thorn said they were injured or unfit in cody's case

The only part of that Wiki entry earlier that was true is the bit where it said you were his favourite Sky Blues Talk poster :D

Agreed with your point-we need players still, whether Keogh goes or not we need to replace Cranie. I'm quite excited by the notion that AT has to look abroad for a ballplaying CB that can play his style of football: good, I thought it was going to be some lower league clogger! At least he's got more technical ability than the average L1 CB, and his physical presence will give us something we were missing at the back last season.

It going through quickly after Aidy's arrival is further evidence that he was his signing. But not as good as the interview where he says he was impressed with him at Hartlepool!

You suggesting we got AB on the condition he could sign ROD? Or we moved quickly so no one else would snap him up? Either way that would be very concerning and id have preferred we didn't get AB! Any manager can say anything in an interview and I do not believe a manager would choose to sign a player as he had a good game against his old side.

Can't believe some killjoy got rid of that stuff on wiki. Some people take it far too seriously.

No, why on earth would you think that?! I'm saying he was impressed with him in L1-which is what he said-which is why he signed him. It's pretty simple, I can't really understand how you are failing to grasp it!

Did you read the links I posted?

Do you still believe it was a Thorn scouting 99% after reading?

Also as I posted earlier there was over a month between Boothroyd being appointed and ROD signed so that reason doesn't work

But you haven't responded to either points :thinking about:

Each to their own. I still believe if AB had chose to bring ROD to the club, he'd have been treated a bit better than he was under AB.
Yep I agree, exact same could be said about his treatment under Thorn

That is why I started off by saying his signing mystifies me

I might make it my life's mission to get Aidy on film saying it, seeing as print doesn't convince you!

Maybe he found out he wasn't as good as he thought after signing himIf that sounds a bit far fetched then how about Fatwood? Managers have spent a fair bit of cash on him but he hasn't played anywhere near how much or done any good wherever he has moved to.

We've all seen him play: why is it a mystery that two managers both decided not to pick him?! Would you? Given an alternative who isn't Jeffers, not many would.

He was a cheapo Aidy gamble that backfired. Both managers realised once he was at the club that he wasn't near Championship quality: some good L1 goalscorers just can't step-up to The Championship. Which is why I still think his pace could be handy in L1. Even if he can't kick.

Just shows how much fun we could have next season

How has this thread turned into an arguement about ROD? Can't those posts be moved to another thread? This is what does my head in about this forum, totally off topic.
