Having reviewed the fixture list, I would love another leader on the pitch. A giant Michael Doyle would do - for when we play the Cardiff's, Millwall's and Stoke's of this division.

I'd be surprised if Forest allowed Walker out on loan. His contract expires at the end of the season and they won't be entitled to any compensation due to his age if he decides to leave (which you can assume is likely given his position in the pecking order).

I think if this rumour is true, it's more likely that they'll want to make the move permanent.

Saw on Twitter someone say Walker and Godden played up front together at Stevenage. Wonder if we’ll go two up top if we get him.

Funnily enough a friend of mine who's a season ticket holder at Forest said that before Lyle Taylor was brought in, he wanted Lamouchi to play Walker up top alongside Grabban as he believes that's where he'd be most effective.

We may do. But then who gets cut to make room for Walker? One of the AM's? Would probably mean someone would have to move on given the amount of players Robins has at his disposal in that position.

You’d imagine we’d play the 532 we did last season when we played two up on rare occasion with O’Hare behind the two.

One thing to bear in mind is that loans from Premier league clubs tend to happen once they've named their 25 man PL squads, usually after the EFL has started but, obviously, before the window shuts. usually, there's a fair bit of business done then in the Championship.
What may put you at a disadvantage, is certain PL clubs seem to favour certain Championship clubs (eg: Chelsea send us fair few, Abraham, Kalas, Palmer, DaSilva) so building relationships with those clubs is probably what your powers that be are doing now.
Given the relatively tight finances this year, I think Prem loans will play a big part in the Championship. The tight finances may well give you a better chance this season though so it's not all bad news.

A Forest supporting friend of mine said the same thing about Walker, best with a partner. I keep thinking of Chaplin and the comments from the Pompey fans which were similar, and wonder if the same will happen again. Not that Chaplin was in any way a bad player, just maybe would have worked better with a partner up top.

That said, I’m prepared to accept that Robins et al know what they’re doing slightly more than I do, and if we do sign Walker it will be with full knowledge of what sort of player he is (been watching him long enough!).

TBF our assistant manager is ex Chelsea and I think our head of recruitment is ex Wolves so we have had a reasonable relationship with a couple of Prem teams.

I’m more worried we can’t afford the loan fees for these sorts of players than we can’t attract them.

Looking a lot like we’ve got maybe £2m left in the tank and doubt that would get you much.

Just hope we can survive this year, but it’s going to be tough. We’ve barely managed to replace what we lost so far and certainly not improved the side from last year yet.

We've just had a post on our forum saying you're signing Walsh for £1M. i won't be happy with that TBH.
I see your forum has people with no inside knowledge pretending to have inside knowledge too. Good to know.

Although unlikely, they have too many midfielders - 6 for a maximum of 3 places, all of whom seem to have merit. Fans are convinced someone will have to leave. Plus, they have real issues regarding funds.Just saying.

Well yes but anyone could make a guess. Its very different to saying 'I know this is happening.'

Well he’s in his last year of his contract and hasn’t been happy at Bristol. About 5/6 players competing for the same few positions. You never know...

Not a rumour but I wonder whether Keinan Davis from Villa could be an option on a season long loan. Came through the ranks with O'Hare. Imagine he will go on loan somewhere in the Championship.

Unless we sell Godden to a L1 side for a couple of mill, or Wilson goes for £30m and not the £15m rumoured, I can’t see us getting anyone better in for that role TBH. Would Walker fit the one up role? Not sure.

I honestly think our system and style of play doesn’t lend itself to strikers scoring loads. I’d rather we got a solid CB in and someone like Sheaf if there’s money to spend. I’m more worried the defence won’t hold up.

The defence and goalkeeper are our best assets. We got promoted based on them almost alone.

To say you want to sign a CB over a striker is absolutely mental. If we don't strengthen our strikeforce we are getting relegated.

Reading a lot of comments from Villa fans and they all say he is just incapable of scoring, 3 goals in 64 games lol.... just what we need. No point getting someone in who can’t hit a barn door when we already have Baka

5 clubs are looking at Macauley Bonne and offers are starting at $500k but could go up to $1m

Burnley, Preston, Derby, Fulham and Cardiff all interested.

They only signed him the season before from Leyton Orient for $200k so would be a good return on investment for them

11 goals for Charlton, 23 goals season before and then 22 season before that but both those seasons were in the National League. He’s only 24 too

...n the way it was glaringly obvious that Doyle was not up to League 1, but we had to go thro a process of finding out, the outcome of which was very predictable. Don't care how good they were in L 1. My money is that Godden, MacF and Kelly will be found wanting. At the very least Godden needs to be replaced - he'll be fine on the bench
Agreed, Godden is a decent squad player but not first choice for a Championship side.
