General Election (2 Viewers)

What happened to those signs in the Windows, you always used to see them saying "vote labour" and vote conservative. I want one from each party to really confuse people.

Also remember they used to drive round with a loud speaker telling people to vote for them.

I'll be honest, I wouldn't have a clue who to vote for. It's like picking syphilis or gonorrhea.
 
Very surprised at people who are voting labour for the first time in my wider circle of friends. Coventry labour of course but others in marginal Nuneaton and further afield

I've a cousin who's done ok for herself, she's 57 and a life long Tory, amazingly she's
Not only voting Labour but seems to have become a bit of an activist.
I'm not on Facebook but my wife pointed it out to me, she's on there every day arguing
The cause sharing all Labour links.
Asked her what's happened, she reckons it's all down to Corybin, so he's obviously
Appealing to a demographic of people that wasn't expected.

Labour landslide then. I'm off to withdraw my pension while there is still some money left in it.

I suspect it's a bit like Brexit. I'm not hearing many people openly admit to voting Tory, but they will get votes. It sounds like the whole world is currently voting Labour as with remain, but that didn't pan out that way.

Just my theory though. I wouldn't want to bet on Thursday.

We know that won't happen, we both know the press won't let it ;) don't we.
But it does show that people's opinions are changing, if you keep squeezing
and cutting eventually people will wake up to it, so maybe in 4 or 5 years.

(btw, is it really, *really* sad that I've booked Friday off work, so I can stay up and watch the election results?!?)

You may not have to stay up that long to learn the result if it's a Conservative landslide. It's only if it's "too close to call" that it'll be an all-nighter. My worry is that I won't have enough cans of beer to keep me going if it's a long night.

Everyone knows Boris is a twat. For some reason Londoners kept voting for him.
 
I am a lifelong Labour supporter. The wife was Lib Dem until they changed direction. Since then she has also been a Labour voter. My local MP (Labour) has a child in the same class as one of my kids so see him all the time. I am a trade union member. Just about all of my family has only ever voted Labour.

Now here is the problem. Corbyn is not a leader. He has nothing about him. No charisma at all. He is out of his depth. Abbott has a leading role. She makes Corbyn look a world leader. It is sad but I can't bring myself to vote for Labour. The party has become a joke.

So who is left?

Tory? Dirty word. Rob from the poor and give to the rich a lot of times over the years. I haven't done too badly out of what they have done. But I normally vote for what is best for my kids future and not mine.

Lib Dems? Again a party that needs a leader that you can vote for. They would like to see us defenceless. They jumped into bed with the Tories. Having them in would be as bad as having Abbott doing Brexit negotiations.

BNP? Fuck off. Excuse my language but it is all that comes to mind.

Green party. What policies do they have past hugging a tree? I couldn't even tell you who their leader is.

Monster Raving Loony Party. As mad as ever. But this election is so bad that they are starting to look credible :smuggrin:

Even before that. Within minutes of the polls closing there is usually an exit poll by the BBC and the result of that will either be a clear Conservative victory or it will be too close to call. They weren't able to do that for the EU referendum for some technical reason or other which is why we had to wait for the actual results to start coming in.
 
I've seen Tory and labour governments and my life has remain unaffected throughout both. Both are responsible for the lack of safety and security in the country. Both make promises then fuck them up. So much against my usual beliefs I won't be turning out

I think Tory vote will harden again over next 24hrs and May will stay as pm. Just hope she gets a bit of a bloody nose. She took the electorate for granted, fought a v poor campaign and deserves a fright or two on election night. She came into the election on a platform of strong and stable but now looks anything but.

Not that I want it to happen, but if they get close then it could be a decent election for Labour to lose.

They've shown a left-leaning manifesto can play well. Don't think Corbyn would have an issue moving aside if a leader with more appeal to middle England would come forward, pledging something similar.

May has shown a staggering level of incompetence. It wouldn't be surprising to see a Brexit deal not what we've been promised.

So then the government falls, is divided, and it ends up Labour is the united party to step forward and fill the void...

There's a council building near where I work that's actually a semi-detached house (albeit many rooms!!). Owners of the other half has stcuk a 'vote Lib Dem' sign right on the edge of their boundary, next to the council door.

Makes me chuckle, anyway...
 
May thought it would be a very easy win that is why she called the election so early, hopefully she will be proved wrong again tomorrow but I think she will win.

i hope the fat shit Jones loses Nuneaton.
 
I don't want any main party to win. None of them are worthy of my vote. I just don't want the tories having a runaway victory.

If I had to vote for one of the main parties I am not sure which one it would be. I have a problem with all of them. But if it comes down to making the best Brexit deal and national security then I swing towards the Tories. But I would have a major problem voting for them.

Was thinking of doing that myself always a bit of fun watching the politicians squirm. However once Dimbleby tells us the exit poll at 10.01pm you may as well go to bed.
