Unfortunately, years of living in W.Sussex/Portsmouth, has softened the accent. That said, as soon as I speak to someone back home, it's back in full Ian Paisley splendour!

It was Pochettino who told us that Haji arrive in the US injured back in June. His achilles problem was still troubling him then, which was a good few weeks of rest after the playoff games.

As reported in the Telegraph:

“It’s always sad to see a player leave, because the group was very good, and he’s a very good guy and adds very good quality to the group,” said Pochettino, who revealed Wright reported for duty from the Sky Blues with Achilles issues.

“He’s a player that can play in different positions in the attack. Yes, sad situation - sad for him, sad for the team - but I think we need to prioritise his process to recovery.

“He already arrived with some problems in his Achilles, and then we cannot fix the problem. He increased pain. That is why that is the decision that we take.”

We played them in a league cup match in early 90s, Wegerle was sent off and we lost 2-0. I thought the gloves wearer was Neil Pointon & the Oldham fans called him Psycho like we did with Stuart Pearce. He went to take a throw in & we were singing "Psychos got his gloves on"

I was there for that, didn't he get sent off for swearing at the ref?

Not only are you obsessed with me, you seem to have an obsession with my dad, my background, my upbringing. It's pretty unhinged at times.

Agree. It’s the cumulative effect over the season that concerns me. Being selected for USA games over the next 6 months could take its toll come the Championship run-in in April

Smart finish but I’d expect most championship keepers to stop it. Or at least even get near it. Not like it was buried far in the corner. Shite from Ryan.

Collins misses that he’d be hung on here. The denial is hilarious. Good goal, awful keeping. Both are possible, children.

In fairness, the above comments were made in the aftermath of his poor showing in the playoffs.

People at the match this season despite all his goals still say he needs replacing with a proper striker?

Wright is doing his best to surpass Gyokeres and is making a mighty good fist of it. Goals will be the deciding factor and if he can assist us in getting over the line then any opinions become just opinions.

22/23 Gyokeres was basically our only outlet up front, scored 21 + 10 assists playing in a worse team and while playing basically every minute in the league.

Really interesting how him and his main competition (Sargent) have ended up competing for the spot in the same league.

“I genuinely think Simms will be fine. Hes hardly played any mins. I actually gave faith in Simms and think hes the real deal. When he scores 1 he will be on a roll.
Simms looks more of a footballer than Wright.
Wright is just massive gamble which is looking like a complete and utter waste of Gyokores money.”

“Wright wouldnt score 20 in league 1 mate. Hes got no consistency to his game. He doesnt know what his bread n butter is.”

“Big issue is when it's not working for you or the team you have to put yourself about do the basic minimum. At least let the defenders know your there! He offered nothing. His shooting whilst leaning back is awfull something a school kid wouldn't do.

I'm struggling to see the positives. When honestly I have searched for them long and hard.”

“Great work from Dean Austin. Haji Wright bargain of the season. defenses around the championship shitting themselves about our record signing.
He wouldn't look put of place in league 2.”

“I wish they did call me before they spunked £12M. On Kitching and Wright.
Would have saved the club £10M. In money they will never get back.”

“Simms has so much more to his game than Wright and is light years ahead of him in every department.
No comparison between Simms and Wright. Simms has single handedly changed games this season.
Huddersfield at home his shot that won us that game from crossbar.
Simms was excellent vs QPR and again again when he come on as Sub at Preston.
Wright is only playing as hes our record marquee signing, and Robin's is clearly trying to polish a turd every week.”

“Simpleton fans think scoring two tap ins that even he couldnt miss, paves over the shocking display over 98 mins.
Simms did more offensively in 20 mins than haji has in many many games.”

“This guy has.

No strength.
No first touch.
Cant hold the ball up.
Cant head the ball.
Cant stay on side.
Missed a sitter...so cant score.
His technique is very bad.
He actually doesnt know what he wants to do with the ball.”

Played in much better and more attacking teams, Gyokeres was our whole attack that year and he dragged us to the play off final.

Terrific turn of pace over 6 yards for the first goal. I wish he had that much space to play off the last defender every week in the Championship!

I've been a Wright fan since he hit the bar against Leicester in his first game, Desert Orchid in a field of blackpoll donkeys as we used to say! I don't imagine that his agent would be advising him to sign a new contract this side of promotion and the WC though, unless King really breaks the bank. Hopefully he can strike some kind of deal.

If we don’t go up this season he’ll likely be off to the PL in the summer, IMO.
