Would you have Hamer back? (7 Viewers)

Hamer compared to Lampard, Ronaldo and Maradona just 3 pages in.

The one player that’s mildly comparable is Andy Reid

Has it or have we just brought in someone we are obliged to pay 4 times as much as we did for Torp?

I love him but it’s clear he’s been dropped cos we spent in his position.
For me his forms dropped and now his game time. He was on fire first half of the season.

Well despite creating their goal yesterday it would appear that the Utd fans arn’t overly impressed with Hamer anymore and want rid for a knock down fee.
Rumour is Wilder wants one of our forwards next season. Who do we recon for a pex with Hamer ?

Trigger warning required when reading about his fitness and 'shape'.

John Fleck was a solid midfielder in PL. Hamer may be lacking a few things at moment but he did ok and stood out for Blunts in PL in a very verybpoor team.
Not sure he is right fit now but could be affordable option off bench for us.... Lampard would improve him too. But it wont happen as Doug doesnt like risk.

That SU link is an interesting read.

One think that's clear from hearing Lampard speak is that attitude is absolutely key for him - this is consistent with his own career and personality in terms of achieving every last thing he could.

He's referred to it in bringing Lati and Woolf back in (and arguably in exiting Bassette) - they just shut up, worked their arses off and got another chance by doing everything right to get their chance on the pitch. This sets a tone for the whole club.

Not to say there's anything to suggest Hamer was a bad trainer and what a player he can be, but if the stories of his boozing and diet are true, I'm just not sure I see someone as professional as Lampard taking a punt on that.

Fuck me, they have the leagues top playmaker, last season's player of the year and they aim such vitrol... While he's still pulling in good stats..
Probably best he moves on to anywhere where a coach will help not hinder him.

Wouldn’t mind having him back if he’s available for a knockdown price, but only if he’s willing to get in shape.

Read somewhere Fatawu might be sold this summer and he’s one I might be tempted to bring in once our loanees go back.

On reflection after I was in favour in the window (think it was more so desperation) I don’t think Hamer as he is now would work well here.

I think Lampard demands more from the players in terms of work rate and fitness which I’m not sure current Hamer has anymore. Who knows tho. Lampard has worked wonders with all our other midfielders maybe a stricter coach would get him back to his best

He's a handsomely rewarded professional athlete who's decided he doesn't need to look after his diet and fitness, he's not bothered about getting into shape

I think him not looking after his diet and fitness has a lot to do with how the Blunts season has gone this season. He seemed a lot more motivated last season. Maybe under the right circumstances/conditions he may be worth a punt provided there are performance clauses inserted into the deal.

It's Simms that they've been linked with.

My comments are nothing to do with his body type. Although I still maintain he's overweight.

I've watched him, and his fitness isn't what it should be. I've seen him booked on more than one occasion for being too slow in to a tackle and catching a player.
I've watched him struggle to press at times in games.

And hopefully we won't be in the Championship next year andI have big doubts about the speed and fitness levels of some of our current players let alone Hamer
I watched our goals from the 2-1 win at Bristol, where Hamer robs their player in our half and runs 50 yards with the ball to set up Vik's last minute winner. He honestly looks two stone lighter.

Wouldn’t have Hamer or O’Hare back. Hamer is talented but physically has no discipline which means he is and will truncate his own career and is close to doing so. O’Hare is just average in the extreme.

Irrespective of which league were in next season its a definite No from me.

No doubt he was a gem when with us and gave me some amazing memories and emotions but thats where they should stay in my view; no need to try and replay the past.

Irrespective of who is manager next season, I think we are setting our heights higher than Hamer.
