The club being at financial risk if we do so is the best one. Some of the mental gymnastics on here to find reasons why Wilson is the ideal choice other over another keeper coming in are bat shit.
Whilst that might be true, your obsessed hatred of him in about 1,000+ posts on him is equal. You don't like him, we get it.Some of the mental gymnastics on here to find reasons why Wilson is the ideal choice other over another keeper coming in are bat shit.

I don’t think he’s a very good footballer, I certainly don’t hate him.
I’ll post what I want, thanks.Give it a rest. At the moment we have Dovin Injured. Wilson, Collins and Bell. If that doesn't change before the first game who are you picking?
Need to spend millions on a new striker to help the team that scored the 4th most goals in the division last year, but taking a stopgap GK on loan so you don’t have to play your third choice keeper could tip the club over the edge. The club being at financial risk if we do so is the best one.
Interesting - what exactly do the studies show? I completely agree that over the course of a game goalies knees do less than outfield players, but the peak forces experienced at the knee will be the same. In other countries maybe, but here he won't be back before 9 months, and more likely 12+.There’s studies that have shown this to be true, including a Uefa lead one. Moreover whilst modern day goalkeeping is demanding, it’s common sense that a goalkeeper will not be exposed to the same demands (on the knee) as an outfield players.
We need both but the likelihood of both happening is slimActually it'll be Thomas and Kitching that end up getting the blame won't it. People will scream and shout that we needed to bring in a CB instead of accepting they were wrong about the GK.

I'm wondering if Frank's going to be pragmatic to our situation and indeed play with a five ATB formation for the duration of Dovin's absence?say 20games minimum? The dislike for him by some on here is way ott. He's not perfect but certainly capable of filling in and certainly better than Collins. The suggestion we can't make top 6 with him when we have done exactly that before is also weird.
People talk about a slow ageing Fadz as if he was the sole reason, I'd suggest as much as I like Fadz and he did play well, that 5 at the back would help any keeper but wouldn't create the chances we get now. Any keeper will be more exposed and therefore likely let more in if we're being more offensive, though we do need to take more of those chances created at the other end. I'd say the individual defenders are better than we had 2 season ago (with the exception of Doyle) and so no reason at all he couldn't start - that's the point of a back up until Dovin is fit.
Some of the experienced keepers suggested woudl also command big wages and that's why they are cheap or free. I saw someone saying you get Kepa for £5m. Not only would he not have considered us, but he signed on a 2 year deal for around £150k per week. I know they weren't suggesting we were in for him, but it's wages and contract length that need factoring in for hopefully only a short tem fix. ACL's for keepers are unusual and we don't want to stifle or risk losing Dovin who will only improve and hopefully be our keeper for the next 10 years.

That's a bit dramatic. But you're not the only one pushing that line out.Whilst that might be true, your obsessed hatred of him in about 1,000+ posts on him is equal. You don't like him, we get it.
Shall we look at it from another angle for those who are happy with Wilson being our No.1 for about half a season?
So what happens if Wilson gets injured after the transfer window closes? Calamity Collins becomes our No.1 GK
Yes, but if we spend shedloads of cash to plug all our inferior players we could start a new thread themed on having to sell the ground, playing in the bottom tier, never buying anyone, playing in other cities and generally being forgotten. And yes, I know we don’t own the ground, just added it for dramatic effect. If we end the transfer window with Wilson as number 1 this thread will get bumped fairly regularly as he costs us points.
You need to phone Frank and Dean Austin and illustrate how easy it is.1 signing the club needs is a goalkeeper for 4-5 months
imagine paying a keeper from the PL £10k a week for 20 weeks - Thats £200k , FFS we can generate that overnight if needed and it could be the difference this season

Can’t we just put Collins up for loan or for sale as a free transfer and see if we get any bites?
I still don’t get why we extended Wilson’s contract and then even when both were fit played Collins as his preference at the start, surely we should have just let Wilson go

I still think Collins has a chance of starting. He would have been recruited to be the main man originally I assume.
Both of them would be sold if other clubs actually wanted them. For Luke Bell to play infront of him in Portugal might mean he’s available to go and surplus to requirements

You suggested Collins was better than Wilson so I don’t think your suggestions carry much credenceWe faced more shots on target per 90 than half the league.
Sheff Wed, Boro, Derby, Preston, Swansea, WBA, Millwall, Sheff Utd, Sun’d, Burnley, Leeds
I suggest we focus on solving that more than signing another GK to cover an injury

I'd wager it's because we play more attacking football and so there is naturally more space at the back.We faced more shots on target per 90 than half the league.
