First starting going to HR in 1967 and a ST holder most of the intervening years. Not seen a game this season, although Sixfields is closer to me than the Ricoh. Have been to watch Northampton a couple of times this season, but will now probably get my fix from Oxford, just a couple of miles down the road. Such a shame, youngest grandson is now ready to be "schooled" and it will be Oxford instead of City who he will see for his first game. The joy (sic) and pride a city/town can generate from a football team is not easily measured, but thousands of families are affected both financially and emotionally. I'm not bothered who we should blame, but all involved should hang their heads in shame for destroying a football club and the hopes of a City.

Can the complacency of the people running CCFC carry on in the face of this? Mr. Fisher’s recent programme notes suggest that either they don’t get it, or they are revelling in it. Either way, it makes me feel sick.

What did he say in the programme then?

Too be fair there will be some who will be glad with the ops decision.

We went to all the away games together and had season tickets together.
We have been on all the marches,Demonstrations and went out once a week to tie Ribbons for our beloved Sky blues.

We have been accused of threatening Fisher and in turn have been threatened on many occasions ourselves.

Looks like Sisu might have won this battle we are too old for all this shit.

Before I give in there will be one last stand ban me for life don't really care anymore.

Thank You for everything Sisu the memories will haunt us all forever, the damage you have done to this club are unrepairable and irresponsible.
I hope you are Proud with yourselves.

I am stuck between travelling hours on the train to places reachable from Scotland and watching some of the football up here-a rock and hard place situation if ever there was one.

Difficult.

By moving CCFC to Sixfields SISU told the fans that they don't need them.

I'd suggest the closest team in Scotland for a while as things will get much worse for Coventry City before they get better.

This thread is probably the beginning of the end for the City. Whilst the next generation of supporters are lost to other clubs or other pastimes, some of the most fervent City supporters on here describe their feelings in the manner that they have. I share the same opinions as most expressed. I was at Tranmere but can take it or leave it now. I don't think it will take long for me to get by without them.

I go to the odd league game up here and while it's fun watching football untainted by over commercialism it isn't the same as watching the City. Going to Hartlepool took me 4 hours each way but I couldn't get enough of it-not because of the performance but the people you go with and the new ones you meet in the pub before and after.

It's that latter one which still makes me want to catch trains and buses at stupid times to get a chance of going.

I read this thread and I do feel sorry for everyone who is feeling the way they do, it can't be easy and it must be really difficult for all, but me personally I will never give it up, it's like I physically can't stay away, I won't attend games at Sixfields, but I will always go to Away Fixtures, CCFC has been in my life since I was 5 and even though the situation is utterly rubbish and disgraceful to fans and the Club's name itself, my fire still burns strongly.

Fair play to you I have known many people like that who no longer go always thought it would not happen to me. I still fight for them tooth and nail when they are slagged off by fans of other clubs Can't help it, after all I do work in Insester makes it even more painfull.

Also, my dad totally refuses to talk about anything Coventry City these days, and that used to be pretty much all we'd talk about..

Same kind of thing here mate, though its apathy rather than anger. I'd speak to the old fella on the phone, 30 secs of how are the family, before he'd start on about the last game/up coming game, what he'd heard in the Telegraph etc. Now, he asks ME anything much happening with the City.

We're worried about losing the younger generation, we should be concerned about losing people of any age.

Got to admire those that can do it :claping hands:

But the fact is people are leaving in droves for whatever reason.
Coupled with the so called new Stadium it will be the undoing of any potential for being a top flight club again.
I personally will struggle to accept that and I believe next seasons venue will show the direction we are heading.

PS I still think/hope/pray we will be at the Ricoh next season :D

It is a struggle for everyone, the best thing that could happen is that CCFC return to the Ricoh, it seems like a solution that is distant at this moment in time, yet I am sure if all parties matured and got around the table it could easily be sorted.

It's not just the football Is It. It's the sense of Brotherhood, to be able to commune with likeminded folk, something quite unusual In. a digitised I'm alright Jack world.
Pride In where you come from. Carrying on with this unsatisfactory situation Is a little like perusing an old flame. It's a negative
trait If that's what you get from the game.
For me I've realised that's what I take from It
and think I've taken a positive approach to It by going down the Egg Chasing route, find I can get that sense of Identity there,.
Have been to several of our away games. but that's of no benefit to the City I come from.
To the OP I'd recommend this route as Its a positive personal step, removing all the disillusionment that goes with the game of football as a whole, compounded with our situation and the sense of abandonment. No overpaid prima donnas and a benefit to this city and a team belonging/from It.
A team on the up with good current owner,I'd expect a more proactive marketing strategy from them for next season, location and post match entertainment make for a truely enjoyable afternoon /Evening, Don't get me wrong, If CCFC were still In town this wouldn't have become an Issue, however Its not healthy to hang around after she's done the dirty on you. The games not the same, the experience Is refreshingly enjoyable.

like most on here, i too was a season ticket holder for over 20 years. i also got married at highfield road and we were going to be renewing our wedding vows at the ricoh last summer which was our tenth anniversary but due to our brilliant owners it got canned. im on the cusp of giving it all up now. the anger is slowly turning into resignment.

Like a few on here been a fan for fifty years and still love the club but hate what's happening to it.
What a sad day though when you read on here fans of all ages saying they've had enough, but there's no getting away from the fact the club is in a mess and with nothing good on the horizon. My son has jacked it all in as well as a couple of my mates,I'm still holding on but I am getting more pissed off as the season goes on.It's tough being a City fan and it gets tougher by the day.

Been going to games since 1986 and was a season ticket holder from 89 until I moved away for uni. When I did move away my Dad posted me the Pink every week and I'd go to as many games as I could afford.

Being a supporter used to take up a lot of my time. The first thing I'd do every morning was check twitter for any breaking news. Before I left for work I'd check this forum for any news. Throughout the day I'd be constantly checking on here. Fridays I'd rush home from work to be back in time for Sky Blues Interactive. Weekends were planned around either going to or listening to games, much to my wife’s annoyance "I don't know why you bother, it just makes you miserable every time they lose".

Usually I'd attend around 5 home games and 5 away games a season, this season I went to Crawley away the first day of the season, if my wife hadn't got me tickets for the Arsenal game as a birthday present Crawley would have been the only game for me this season, I've no plans to go to anymore. I went to more games a season when I was living in Canada!

I haven't listened to Sky Blues Interactive or a single game this season. Didn't even bother seeking out somewhere with BT Sport for the cup games that were shown. No longer watch the Football League Show. Sometimes I don't even know we're playing and only find out when Sky Sports app on my phone pops up a score. I don't get the same feeling when we win or get as down as much when we lose.

I come on here more out of habit and boredom at work than anything else now. I wish it wasn't like that and I feel like I'm having to force myself to maintain some level of support above a passing interest which really shouldn't be the case for any football fan. These days I'm an armchair football fan, watching MOTD and games on Sky. The only football I go to is England games, it's not the same but I'm not particularly interested in watching another club so it's a way of getting a football fix.

My Dad, who has been going since the Jimmy Hill days, doesn't care anymore. When I talk to him he doesn't even know if we've played let alone won or lost. Even if we go back to Cov he's said he's had enough and won't be going back. I'm not sure my level of interest will go back to what it was if / when we return. I’ve got used to not being a football fan at weekends and doing other things which are, to be brutally honest, more fun than siting in the cold and wet watching us struggle in League 1.
My Cov fix these days come from watching YouTube clips of the likes of Hucks, Dion etc and reminiscing about the good old days. Following the recent transfer window I wouldn’t recognise half of our players if they were stood in front of me. Sad but that’s just the way it is.

Given that to have signed up somewhere like this in the first place you’d need to be a fairly committed fan and yet we’re seeing so many posts like this it makes me wonder how badly damaged the more casual fanbase is.

Same here, at least my phone bill has gone down! My Dad doesn't even ask me what's going on and if I bring up the City I can tell he's got no interest anymore.

If you don't like it piss off then! why do you feel the need to post on it, does it make you feel better because you can still watch the team at Sixfields. If you see what the OP has said and don't like then don't open it. The way you talk about your passion for the club is the way others feel who have supported longer than you but by the sound of it others have done more to try and get us home and they are feeling totally drained by this whole mess but for you to come on and say 'woe is me' is out of order just because some people want to vent on this forum.

The problem is I feel at the moment that even returning to the Ricoh won't change my feelings.

It's not even an anti sisu thing, new owners wouldn't make a massive amount of difference to my apathy feelings.

Unfortunately I think I've moved on, and the club would need to win me over again, just like when I was a kid in order to get me really back into it.

Ill keep it short and sweet, Ive lost that interest now, have not attended any games this year. Even when we were away I would listen on the radio and get excited like Clive Eakin when we had just entered the other teams half or had a shot that hit the corner flag but again not done that this year. I dont even know when the next game is or who against. The only news story that matters to me now will be the headline CCFC TO RETURN TO THE RICOH, and then I'll get interested again.

Will be interesting to see how many of these giving up now will be clamoring for tickets for the League One Play Off Final next season that we'll be in. :D

Stick with it chaps, gotta take the rough with the smooth. When we finally do have something to cheer about, we'll all look back at this and remember the tough times we had to come through.

I know that that was at least partly tongue in cheek, but we've never been short of people wanting tickets for the really big games.

What this thread is about, is people like me who used to plan their lives around the fixture list, now only finding out who we're playing by coming on here. I'm sure that I would be clamouring for tickets for a play off final, but the more important question is whether I'll feel moved to watch us play Stevenage on a Tuesday night.

If we're back at the Ricoh next year, I'm pretty sure that I'd be there for that Stevenage game, but if we're in Northampton for another year.......

Yes, tongue firmly in cheek.

You're spot on about the people wanting tickets for just the big games. I'll always remember the panic over Crewe JPT, Chelsea FA Cup and Arsenal away tickets from some people who hadn't been in years/decades.

Problem is supporting City there is no smooth. I started going in 86 and of course it was great for a couple of seasons but since then we've pretty much always been struggling and going from bad to worse. Sure we got to see some great performances and some great players but overall we never achieved anything. The only thing we had was hope, every pre-season thinking this could be the year. Now we don't even have that, we're playing 35 miles away and little sign that we're coming back anytime soon.

Of course it's easy to say you should always keep supporting the team and other similar things but at the end of the day it's supposed to be an enjoyable passtime, its never that with us and you can't blame people for being ground down.

Fair enough. It's a tit for tat thing I suppose. Sometimes I get fed up with being told not to go. Or at least, why I shouldn't. So, I give as good as I get. Childish? Probably.
