Which team will be the 3rd team to get relegated if not us?

The counter argument is that (a bit like the champonship) the PL is becoming a bit clogged in the middle and a lot of teams could fall into that 3rd place spot with a run of poor form. Outside of the top few teams are there any teams we should be "frightened" of playing?
It's about being well-organised - particularly at the back.
Sunderland got 7th and only scored 42 goals. From Fulham (11th) down they all had negative goal differences.
 
I don't think you target anyone tbh. You look after yourselves and you'll finish above the amount of teams required to stay up. Aiming to finish above Ipswich, Hull and one other team is not the way to look at it.

Not really saying it in a targeting way

Just like thinking and discussing about next season tbh

This is what we wanted after all!

Who do we stay above?

Arsenal, man city, man u, Aston villa, Liverpool, Chelsea,spurs under de zerbi - UNLIKELY we finish above these 7 teams

So that leaves 10 more teams. We need one to have a shite season like west ham and hope we can take advantage. But it's still tough to see who

Newcastle - Saudi backed
Forest - always spend, made a euro semi. Think they will be ok
Brighton - European commitments but they can rotate in conference league and still advance
Everton- just can't see.moyes Everton team ever not being solid at very least.

Can't see it being any of these 4 teams either.

So that leaves 7 clubs

Bournemouth - new manager AND euro commitments
Brentford- can't really bet against bloom but still pinching every season I guess
Leeds - closest prem side left to a championship side I guess?
Palace - new manager and possibly euro commitments
Fulham - new manager likely
Sunderland - euro commitments

I think if a team other than cov is gonna get relegated it's gonna be one of these 7 teams but no guarantees

Can only speculate so much till we know how recruitment goes but still interested to know which teams you guys think we can realistically finish above?

Already been mentioned but there's a few I can see falling off a bit. I just have a feeling relegation is coming for Palace or Fulham within the next couple of years. Next season would be nice.

I don't like England's dominance in Europe as it seems more financial than our footballing superiority as a nation however it's probably best for us that palace win the conference league and have 8 group games in Europa where they do thurs-sunday

Suppose you really look at the ones with new managers coming in - one thing we've seen this PL season is that new managers can disrupt clubs - Frank to Spurs.
Palace will be interesting - do seem a club walking a tightrope at times and consistently selling their best players. New manager appointment there will be big.
Fulham could have a big appointment coming up - could argue Silva has massively outperformed his circumstances there.
Forest always seem a club destined to self-implode with their ownership

In August at the start of the season we were 11/1 to win the league, similar odds to Bournemouth & Everton being relegated in the coming season. We were 6/1 for a top 2 finish, similar to Palace, Fulham, Forest, Brentford, Leeds getting relegated this season.
Nobody knows what's going to happen.
At least we aren't favourites.

If Palace get their Glasner replacement wrong they will be in a spot of bother. Forest are a wildcard every season.
 
Ive not read the comments but there's always one team that think they're established and have a blip they can't recover from. Think west ham this season. In the past it happened to Fulham, Leicester.

I dunno who but id say Brentford could be the one.

Sunderland, leeds will be in the scrap too
 
Could be 9 clubs in Europe. We have to make the most out of our lack of games

That said I hope we have a squad that allows us to rotate yet progress in early rounds of the cups

Ya cannot see a mouse Everton doing poorly next season. They don't be in relegation fight I don't think
 
No way we know the first two, never mind the third. I think Hull probably will go. I’d go with Leeds as another who could struggle along with Sunderland and maybe even Palace
 
Whatever our predictions, even if the promoted 3 end up being the bottom 3. someone will end up 4th and 5th from bottom, and will not be having the season they wanted. As someone else alluded to, we just need to concentrate on ourselves, and we'll see where that takes us.
 
We only scored 42 goals, we realised clubs just like to pass pass pass. Learn to keep it tight and counter the possession teams (most of the league) and you will be fine. Its astonishing how many clubs in the Prem have no plan B. Burnley prime example, trying to play tippy tappy football against Man City etc. Get some proper physical guys in like we did with Mukiele, Brobbey, Reinildo, Alderete, and get into them.

We are probably at our best when counter attacking.

Think our recruitment has to be spot on similar to yours, although we don’t have the luxury of spending as much

I genuingly think you will stay up. Last season I (like many SAFC fans) were feeling the same way you guys are now. You will be shocked at how s**te the standard actually is.

Our recruitment has been decent previously. Its the make or break really, although we seemed to have been linked to some decent names
 
I have got a lot of time for what Sunderland have achieved for this season. Without taking away anything from them, the fact they finished in a European place goes to show how many basket cases there are in the Premier League.

If we make some good signings and improve the quality, without fielding a championship 11, or without losing our good team spirit, I think we may pleasantly surprise some people. Get it wrong though, and we go straight back down. The jump up is still significant and shouldn't be underestimated.

Sunderland’s budget got a fair boost by Dortmund’s weird Bellingham obsession. So we can’t spend what they did, but we also have a side that won the league by double digits instead of one that squirmed through the playoffs.

I think Leeds are the more realistic side to emulate in terms of recruitment and playing style.

i’d say our side before recruitment is better than there’s was, but they’ve had a few players jump up the league ok so we should too
