What will make Lampard leave? (5 Viewers)

He has to stay! It's like defending a title.. you can't just win something and then walk away. Win it defend it and you're a proper champ!!
He might say I’ve done my job and so off to the next challenge? I hope that history doesn’t repeat itself with JH leaving after getting us promoted to the top flight

But that's not completing the job.. Nico Rosberg didn't have the courage to stick around and defend his title.. didn't want to lose.. not defending his title was cowardly.. I think Lampard will relish the challenge...

Bournemouth job aside (which would probably ideal as the next stepping stone (established PL side/location/less fan pressure), I think it would have to be a settled mid table team. I don't think the big teams will risk their CL ambitions until he's established himself in the PL/ If we stay up, then all bets are off.
Except it isn't really (Bournemouth) IMO.

I don’t see any of the potential vacancies going for him imo

Though to be fair we did manage to stay up for 35 years after JH left!

Landscape is totally different now. The old First Division was more like The Championship.

But we have to give it a go, without jeapordising the club. Personally I prefer watching Championship football to Premier League. Yes standard is way higher, but not sure entertainment is? I know some referees are poor, but VAR seems to compound it rather than improve it. Also it sucks the spontaneous drama out of the sport. 6 minutes to decide something is clear and obvious????

Frank will leave if he has a big offer from a bigger club. BUT I caution that decision as he has been there before and the pressure without sucess will rear it's head again. Far better he learns to consolidate Coventry as a premiership club, make an impression and see how his backroom staff measure up to it. If all goes well only then will he have a decision to make.

He is more experienced now and realizes the importance of his own due diligence, squad, finances, staff, boardroom. He said when he joined us he had learned a lot and perhaps some of previous posts had not been right for him.

Let's be honest if results over the first 8 games are poor plenty of fans will be calling for the sack. It won't be me but plenty will. Loyalty is a two way street but football is a one way street relative success or flip another coin.

He’s got over his salad days then?

Derby fans will of course drone on about how he waited until July to move on to Chelsea and left them without any planning for the new season.
Very different scenario - got his dream appointment and left a club still in the Championship with dark clouds looming over finances.

If he leaves for a relegated Spurs, can you imagine the pressure he'll be under at Tottenham. Their fans would want total dominance of the Championship and playing a certain way. Add to that he won't be a popular choice being an ex Chelsea man.
Even if he achieves that, the pressure won't subside when he's in the Premier League. A slow start to the 27/28 season and he's fired.

I can't see him going back to Chelsea . He must know a few bad results and you are out, Chelsea at the moment are paying 30 million plus to ex managers and coaching staff.

But it is like a footballer moving from the Championship to the Premier League. It is no different for managers.

They want the opportunity, they want the challenge; they have to back themselves.
If he feels he can be in a better position to be successful at another club in the Premier League than here he will take.

Top clubs sack managers for not winning trophies, struggling clubs sack managers for not winning games. Football managers know that, it doesn't put them off

A slow off the pace start to 2026/2027 could see him fired

He will leave if we get relegated I think. Contract extension likely though so we would get a bit of compo

There is more chance of me being asked to be the next Tottenham manager than Frank Lampard

A complete non-starter in every sense

I don’t think fans will turn on him that quickly because there should be an acceptance that we will probably need 2-3 stabs at staying up. It’s a difficult undertaking to stay up in the Prem from scratch.

It wouldn’t surprise me, he’s managed in the UCL. So far, it’s been the best investment we’ve made.
I cant imagine theres many clubs where the manager is paid higher than the highest paid player

A quick search suggests most Premier league managers are on £4-6m. I can't imagine uncle doug bringing him in on around that

It’s probably £5m over the whole 2.5 years.
I don’t think it is. He was on £9.6m at Everton and £7.3m at Chelsea (2nd spell) but these things don’t tend to be fully verified.

To hit a middle ground, I doubt he’d have that as a base salary, if it is £5m per year, it’s probably performance based i.e. bonus structure.

The 5m figure comes from a website called Celebrity Net Worth according to The Express. I don’t think it’s accurate whatsoever.

Colnbrook is between Slough and Staines right at the end of a Heathrow runway.

He could move the whole family to Bedworth and it would be an upgrade 😆

Yep and he isn’t exactly doing it for free here is he? I know we probably are not paying him PL wages but I bet he is still on £1-2M a year with us
I have nothing against that when we see the results - just hope there’s something that holds him to us before England 😁

He probably will be the highest paid person at the club. He’s managed at the highest levels, it will only be in the Prem where players will overtake Lampard.

They’re approximations, 100% and true figures often cannot be verified but he’s gonna be on a big wedge.

The £5m figure you are suggesting is 4 times as much as our highest paid player
