Fuck sake. I live in Solihull. Can’t escape the bastards.
Take one for the team mate!

How the mighty have fallen, from self proclaimed biggest club in the country to the arse end of brum, fuck 'em. Hope they go tits up there as well.
Let's see how many of their massive Cov following bother travelling.

"Wasps will quit Coventry and plan to move to Solihull after being parachuted into next season’s Championship.

Telegraph Sport can reveal the former European champions’ new owners have chosen to relocate after holding initial talks with Mike Ashley’s Frasers Group, which bought the Coventry Building Society Arena when the club were plunged into administration.

Damson Park, the home of Solihull Moors Football Club, is close to being announced as Wasps’ new ground as they bid to make an immediate return to the Premiership after being thrown out over their financial collapse.

With a capacity of 5,500, it is almost six times smaller than the CBS Arena but would arguably be better suited to the club’s current circumstances.

Telegraph Sport has been told the Rugby Football Union has agreed to waive a regulation that would have forced Wasps to remain in Coventry for three years given they do not own or control their own ground.

Wasps, founded and based in London for most of their 156-year history, made the controversial move to the Midlands eight years ago, raising £35 million through a bond scheme to buy a 250-year lease on the CBS Arena.

Talks with Frasers Group were said not to have progressed to how much the club would be charged for staying put."

Sounds like a very quick chat with Ashley then !
Isn't a 10k capacity a requirement to play in the top league?

“Close to being announced” is still not closure.

There’s always the angle of “Mike, we have options, we need a better deal”. Is MA one for squeezing every penny out of his properties?

And it’s the Daily Telegraph - rugger bugger types, a bit of helping negotiations via media isn’t beyond.

Wasps will get more sponsors then most in their Championship. Quite possibly they’ll go up and get some semblance of income.

I’d be surprised if there wasn’t a last minute deal and as the poster above stated, 10k in prem required

Sadly.

Hopefully they are gone, but…..

This really is great news. Once this is announced we never have to worry about those bastards fucking up our pitch again, never have to see horrible wasps signs all around the stadium reminding us of them and never have to deal with their horrible arrogant fans again.

I guess it must be a cost thing, otherwise they'd have tried to move down south where their natural fan base is. Not that they give a fig about their fans though, probaby think they can con the locals into adopting them.

Iroinic they've gone to Solihull after the local Ice Hocky team ended up in Cov.

Looks like there's been a rugby club playing there before. They were a championship team but ended up going bust twice and are now in Counties 3 Midlands West (South) whatever that is. Maybe Solihull isn't the rugby hotbed they're hoping for.

Not "all" only "rugby" creditors

Talk about looking after their own.

A bit of a fall from grace, though.

Be interesting if CWR class Wasps as a Coventry team playing their home games out of the city as we did twice and broadcast their games.

Why do you think Mr. Piggy screenshots rather than links to the record...?

Never trust a screenshot.

Isn't a 10k capacity a requirement to play in the top league?

Or 5k with planning permission for 10k.

Back at the CBS next season for a Premiership/Premier League double header anyone?

I’m worried that you are spot on. Why else stay local?
Because the RFU have told them they have to stay local. The CBS will still be expensive for them even if they manage an immediate promotion with a team built from scratch. They will have to be careful what they spend on wages as they can have no idea what attendances will be like after they settle down from the initial euphoria. Without the P share, they won’t have access to a couple of million central monies. It would cost them in the region of £10m to get a P share back. I think they will be cautious so as not to end up in the same boat again. A return to the CBS arena could tip them back over the edge.
