In the office I work in, it has SSN on in the background but on mute. Had someone outside the Arena giving an update.

Anyone see it and confirm what was said?

Let’s phrase it differently and see if you still think the same:

“Coventry Council Tax payers should contribute for repairs on something that a big business was responsible for. Either taxpayers pay more or local services must get cut”

People often forget where the Council get their money.
Probably should have thought of that when they sold the community asset to a shoddy hedge fund who the neglected it

I wonder if wasps paid for the big screen scoreboard or if it's on a lease. As doesn't look like they payed for much

Newcastle fans were unhappy that he didn't want to put in the kind of money needed to get them into the upper echelons of the top flight. I mean I say that, he sanctioned them spending £40 million on Joelinton and the net spend was well over £100 million in his time there.

I don't think his plan assuming he wants the club as well as the stadium would be to continue festering between the second and third tier.

They finished above midtable once and were relegated twice - up to you whether you class that as ‘festering’ but why do you expect he’ll have more ambition with us?

To be fair sitting 17th in the prem was the glory days in the 90s

that ambition would be fine until he sells us on to Qataris or Saudis

Where do we start:
- Hired his mates for top jobs at the club
- Club was subject of a 4-year HMRC investigation
- Lied about the money managers had available to spend
- Lied to fans: “The club admitted to the tribunal that it repeatedly and intentionally misled the press, public and the fans of Newcastle United.”
- Completely neglected SJP
- Raised ticket prices by 20%
- Doubled club debt
- Newcastle were the 13th most valuable club in football when he took over, ahead of Spurs and Dortmund.

Well he ‘achieved’ all that at Newcastle who are a much bigger club than us - mapping out the same plan onto a team like us is much less exciting (and involves a fair amount of League One)

If his biggest selling point is that he might one day sell us on to someone richer/better then why should we give a shit?

Too late for Ashley to be involved in the Wasps adminstration, an offer has already been accepted from the "Wasps Legends" (ahem) for the rugby business.
IIRC the offer was from a consortium including members of Wasps Legends "and others".
Didn't say who they were.

It’s not ambition, but waiting it out and being prudent will see great progress for CCFC. So many Derby type situations where finances are precarious to say the least. Outside of those clubs backed by hugely wealthy lunatics, the cost of debt is going to spiral and Mr HMRC is going to be knocking on lots of club doors soon.

Great opportunities await.

That sounds most likely and will probably avoid further potential SISU claim potential that would occur if we played at Walsall.

They’ll have to show that some kind of deal is possible though, but with bidders like the NEC and Ashley at the table proof of funds and potential resolution is no problem. An extension would be denied if it was just that poker chap and Dhinsa putting offers in.

Think the idea is he would invest to get us to Newcastle c.2021 level before letting us 'stagnate'

Stagnating at the bottom of the Championship is what we are already doing now and that wouldn't give him a valuable asset

Well there are other ways he can use the club to benefit himself beyond improving our league position - he has a history of trying to take out loans using stadiums as security, for example.

Lol love to hear it

Things like that are actually my favourite part of supporting a football club

There's the slight missing detail of league status
