Physicality is the most important thing in judging who can make the step up. It’s not something Torp has ever really shown and Grimes hasn’t got much of it either.

The Prem generally looks more about having prime athletes rather than technicians.
He just needs to get on the weights for a couple of months

It's a balancing act isn't it. Will be interesting viewing in the summer, whatever they do you have to just support it at this point. Certainly wouldn't be selling for less than what we sold Captain Cuck for though as some are suggesting.
Think I laughed too hard at this. "Captain Cuck" 🤣🤣🤣

Not made himself a guaranteed starter when fit in two and a half seasons in this league so I don't see anything that makes me think he can make the step up. Fine as a squad player for the first season, no more than that. Love what he can do, but has he had more than 10 great games for us in that period?

I think those two will be on the chopping block. Should get around £7m for the pair I'd have thought.

Theres lots of really good experienced CB around who would suit us, where the transfer fee would be minimal problem is the wages.

I like the idea of Eric Dier...
Dier is 1 year into a 3 year contract at Monaco, he's hardly played this year as he keeps getting injured. 🤦‍♂️

Fitness and physicality can be improved in a summer.

Technicality and vision much much longer.

I think we'd struggle to get someone with his level of the latter for good value.

I think FL will want to retain him and will be focussed on preparing him for the Prem.

Paging Gustavo Hamer…

He’s had two summers here, including one under Lampard, and not shown much improvement in his physicality. It probably won’t improve much this summer either.

For me it’s not his physicality as much as his speed. We broke on Hull at one point in the first half but he was so slow running and deciding what to do it fizzled out. Just one example - he’s just not quick or mobile

I think we will keep Torp, he's technically very good,as many have mentioned his form has dropped off recently but I think we'd have to pay a good chunk to find a replacement...he was well suited to the playing style/system early season but probably not suited as well to system they are playing currently.
Having said the above there will be plenty of comings and goings in the close season.

100% - he’s just not mobile enough for me. Great striker of the ball though. Would be interesting to see if some championship teams offer over the summer as he’ll be a decent fee.

Good signing does what it says on the tin sort of player. If he goes he will go with gratitude of the fans and always be welcomed back. My feeling is him and one of the CBs will be sold this summer and will command a decent fee.

I'm not sure Lampard trusts Eccles to cover Grimes and Onyeka, he's rarely played him there opting to play him out of position in the 10. If Onyeka comes off, 9/10 Torp is the replacement.
Is it that he doesn't trust him there, or thinks he's more useful as a 10?

Both seemed to be subject to constant debates about their fitness
Potentially. I don’t think Torp has had a decent run of games recently to judge. His recovery stats earlier in the year were fantastic. I think he’s suffered from us not playing as free flowing and having to be more cautious with how we set up the midfield
