Ideally?

Rushworth
MVE Thomas NEW CB Chilwell

Something along that.

I think either a quality experienced CB or a physical overseas machine.
Hopefully raise decent sums for Kitch and Woolf, keep Lati around as an O’Nien figure.

I think those two will be on the chopping block. Should get around £7m for the pair I'd have thought.

Theres lots of really good experienced CB around who would suit us, where the transfer fee would be minimal problem is the wages.

I like the idea of Eric Dier...

There was talk on here earlier in the season of him being worth £15m or something which I thought was mad.

As others have said he struggles physically, on the ball he's technically excellent but he'd get absolutely bullied in the PL.

I think Torp will be on the bench next season but Jamie Allen will move on.

Probably be bringing in a quality attacking right sided midfielder, a centre back and of course replace Rushworth or sign him and another keeper who is a step up from Wilson, though hopefully Dovin will be back to be 2nd choice.

When the EFL Panini album was printed ( mid October I think) he was regarded enough to be the cover star. Don’t think he has added to his 7 goals since then

He then got ill/injured and by the time he was back Onyeka was here and Eccles was earning all the game time and doing well.

Shame as I really like him but can’t see him getting much game time now, with Rudoni and BTA back and Eccles ahead of him in midfield.

Allen is out of contract so 100% won’t be here

I thought he had another season, well ok. On that theme I guess Bidwell is going to move on too, a great servant to the club but his time is coming to an end. I guess that's the way of football, not exactly nomadic but a few moves in neatly every career and about one every 18 months if you're Peter Couch. :D

Yeah just Allen and Collins of the first team out of contract in the summer.

Wilson/Bidwell/Sakamoto/Simms/Latibeadiere/Thomas with a year left. I’d expect at least Thomas to get a new deal the rest might go if a bid comes in I think.

Personally I’d sell him in the summer. Good technical player but not sure he has the athleticism for the prem.
I think I’d have to agree with this.
We’re not going to be outplaying too many sides with our technical ability, so we’ll need to have more energy, aggression and stamina coupled with the technical ability we can afford. I don’t see him as that player.

He's a good championship player, but a good way off PL quality, i can see him being sold in the Summer.
The issue is we only have 6 or 7 that I think are worth keeping, and Doug doesn't sound like hes going to go mad on the recruitment side of things, so next season is inevitably going to be a long hard struggle.

Like Simms I think we might not replace absolutely everyone season one and can see him sticking about for his versatility and dressing room presence. Long term the midfield probably needs a total overhaul but next season I think a better option at AM to challenge Rudi and a partner for Onyeka with better physicality than Grimes would be the priorities. We need a lot of surgery to the squad and won’t have the cash to replace everyone in one go. With Allen out of contract I’d expect us to only replace one other.

Personally think we'll keep the core of the squad, but anyone on the fringes who isn't a youth prospect will be off (Bidwell, Wilson, Brau, Allen, etc).

I think some are a bit quick on this. He hasn't really played for a while, but he is probably the player in the team with one of the best technical abilities and vision. At the start of the season he had some ridiculous stats for a midfielder on goals and assists.

Yes, I do have some reservations about his fitness and physicality too, as well as the overall feeling that I think he is better in a more attacking midfield role, but he is a really good player. I wouldn't be looking to move him on unless Doug decides over the summer to make it rain with incoming transfers.

It's a balancing act isn't it. Will be interesting viewing in the summer, whatever they do you have to just support it at this point. Certainly wouldn't be selling for less than what we sold Captain Cuck for though as some are suggesting.

Fitness and physicality can be improved in a summer.

Technicality and vision much much longer.

I think we'd struggle to get someone with his level of the latter for good value.

I think FL will want to retain him and will be focussed on preparing him for the Prem.

Have to keep Eccles, he can play more roles than Torp. I like Torp, but he's a luxury player. If he's at his best he'll create and score goals, but if he's not fully on it, he doesn't offer any defensive cover, physicality etc. No way Frank will play him in the 6 or 8 position in the premier league. Keep Eccles as cover for Grimes & Oneyka next season, and bring in another 6. Unless Isaac Moore may be looked at in the summer. Sell Allen and Torp and bring in a No.10 to push Rudoni.

I'm not sure Lampard trusts Eccles to cover Grimes and Onyeka, he's rarely played him there opting to play him out of position in the 10. If Onyeka comes off, 9/10 Torp is the replacement.

But he can’t increase his speed of thought and speed overall. I wouldn’t be surprised to see him as part of next years squad as I don’t think we’ll see wholesale changes. Equally, if he does stay I don’t see him playing much

I don't see him or Eccles playing much, and it wouldn't surprise me to see Grimes drop out the team during the season as we strengthen.

Not sure. Lampard was glowing in his praise of Grimes after the Derby game and was talking about his leadership, game management and overall squad impact. He’s very much the fulcrum of who we are at the moment.

He's had a whole summer working with a top fitness coach and the improvements haven't been good enough.

He looked fine early season but since November it's just gone. The issue is that he needs match practice to get up to speed yet he isn't really getting any.

I thought his levels started to drop before he lost his place, (which I think may have been due to injury).

He always seemed to have a valid excuse, came off the back off a full season in Scandinavia, missed pre season the following season, I'm just not sure he has any more.

I get that, it always feels like there is a constraint. Shame really as he's technically excellent.

He's one I'd keep especially if we're expected to be a yo-yo team, how's he for age though?
