Always liked him as I’m a big fan of technical players and his distribution and ability to pick a pass has always been brilliant.

He has absolutely stepped up this year and looks like he’s enjoying his football too.

So this isn’t a criticism, but I’d like to see him influence games even more. When he does, he generally retains the ball or looks for a forward pass, I would like him on the ball even more.

However, he’s going to struggle more as teams specifically target him. He had a tough time finding space first half on Saturday and I suspect it won’t be the last time. I’m sure he’ll find a way to adapt.

I think he's worth £10m in the market to someone like Brentford or Leeds if they were to come in for him. To us he is priceless.

Hot take but Ben Sheaf has to go down as one of our most overrated players in the last 10 years
I actually did think he was a classy player for us for a while but last season he was a liability, either not fit or not very good even when fit. Getting £6.5 million for him was an incredible piece of business.

That really is a hot take. I think its completely wrong for what its worth.
Most overrated is an interesting topic though. Its unlikely to be someone totally shit as then no one would actually rate them, so it'll be someone where the immediate response is "hang on, he wasn't bad."

I think if his goalscoring continues, he will be worth a lot for that alone. When midfielders score around 15 goals a season, they become sort-after. If he catches the eye with his scoring and scouts watch his all-round game I think he's easily worth £10m. He did a couple of very nice little flicks on Saturday. His passing is often very good and he shows determination to win the ball. Good calm temprament also.

I'll admit I had real doubts about him. Wasn't sure he was up to the pace of the Championship. He's done superbly well this season. Delighted to be proved wrong.
The game passed him by on Saturday but the great thing was he then had that bit of class when the opportunity presented itself to take advantage
6 goals in 10 is superb

Great player but when you watch Grimes, it's remarkable the difference. Not even on the same planet for me.

Sheaf will always be remembered for the game against Wolves. So, so good.

Absolutely. Aside from where he has ended up versus the hype, you have to rewind around 18 months to really understand the depth of it though.

We've got Torp here who's the second highest scorer in the league, from central midfield, and you have comments saying he's worth 5 or 6 million. People were banging on about Sheaf being worth 4 or 5 times that. It was always batshit. We were a better team without him, and whilst we do have better players now, it's showing itself to be more true every day.

Even when he was on the fringes, I always wanted to see more of Torp. He's that kind of player you just know can do something special at any point. The Blackburn game a great example.

One thing that hasn't been commented on that I can see is Torps communication. If you watch him throughout games he's always the one directing players, squeezing the team up the pitch and seems to initiate the press quite a lot. His footballing intelligence is what makes him a good player and that is a massive aid to the team.

Was quite surprised that Hamer had only scored 17 league goals in 123 league appearances. The recency bias of the play off season made it feel like he'd scored more. With the two goals in the play offs it is 19 in 125.

Hardly anyone outside the main striker scored under robins tbh. It wasn’t until Gus was pushed right up and not played as a deep lying playmaker that he really started to score.

Torp has come on hugely, Lampard really seems to be divulging some goalscoring midfielder secrets in training. If Eccles starts scoring I’ll know he’s a miracle worker.

Would still like to see more from Torp though, I think he’s got it in him to dictate play more and impose himself on games.

Yep me too but it might be we only get the goal scoring
