Just been back over to the Wasps forum.

It seems as if there will obviously be added branding for their club. Also that a lot of the venue will be neutral due to other events. Now if we had purchased a stadium, I wouldn't want as much branding as we currently have on there.

I still believe that next summer they will be aiming to change at least one stand of seats, despite the cost, it will look awful for them. When we play in an empty Ricoh at least it is sky blue, this won't be the case with the Wasps.

More like just another excuse not to build a stadium.

And it is more like nobody wants to deal with SISU than the other way round. Is there anyone on here that would trust them with anything?

True, what local council would want to have dealings with SISU? And risk getting dragged into court one day at the expense of local taxpayers?

I'm pleased to say the locals ignored them. Whether it was through apathy or principle I don't know, but the temporary franchise at Sixfields was totally ignored by the local paper and people in general.

It seems one or two CCFC supporters don't plan to do the same when a franchise suddenly comes IN to town

Just a wild stab in the dark but do you think that might have something to do with them not owning/leaseholding/primary tenants Adams Park?

Are people actually upset that the colour of seats may change or that there might be a few Wasps badges on display?

over and over again the same misleading bollocks posted by the same people.

Of course it was called long term marketing when it was in Coventry, when it was in northampton people were upset because they were trying to make the stadium empty by boycotting and sisu were attempting (assuming it happened) to pad the numbers. People didn't care about free tickets they cared about the crowd being significantly boosted unnaturally when they wanted the stadium to be empty.

You all know this, the amount of times recently there have been accusations of hypocrisy either directly or implicitly is ridiculous especially with quite how often they are misinformed or deliberately misrepresenting what people felt or said.

Free/cheap tickets has always been a good strategy and its an especially good strategy when you've just moved into an area permentantly in a massive stadium and need to very significantly grow your fan base and it's an especially good strategy when you can benefit financially from the free tickets through food and drink/merchandising sales. Also the more people there the better the publicity will be and the more chance people will come back.

Oh I wish we had owners who cared about our club.

Sisu are changing the colour of the seats in the new 'Timpot' stadium due to the clash with the shirts confusing the players.
You couldn't write it

I thought it was desperate and to boosts crowd like at sixfields? Will wait for the but, but, but.

Are wasps desperate for fans? Do they want to boost numbers? Can't really pick and choose, I personally can't blame them for giving tickets away.

Depends how you do it I suppose Nick. You can make it clear that it is part of a marketing plan for engaging with the community and make a media thing of it ........ or you can give them out ad hoc to who knows who and hope numbers improve.

comes down to planning, finance, understanding what is going on or needed and professionalism really I guess

I agree, I've said all the time ccfc should be trying to get kids hooked. Scouts, youth teams, schools etc.

I remember the posts on here saying so and so in Northampton had their kids get free tickets at school or through their youth club and how it was an outrage. It was only to boost figures.

If it was a man stood on the roundabout handing then I could understand.

The marketing set up at CCFC has been awful for years and I feel that stems from the club taking its customers for granted. CCFC have no clear message or direction only a series of reactions to situations or demands. There is no joined up thinking. Even the simple things they get wrong too often and fail to plan ahead. That all builds in to the disconnect occurring between the fans and the club. Add to that a pretty awful product on the pitch and you have a gathering storm and a club in crisis again.

The deficiencies in marketing are brought in to sharp relief when compared to the efforts being put in by Wasps. They have to focus on it obviously having up sticks and landed in Coventry but there is a plan to it, it has obviously been funded, it is focussed on key areas, they are trying to connect.

The more I see of what Wasps are doing the sadder and more annoyed I get about our club and its owners. SISU, JS, TF, SW are supposed to be custodians for the safeguarding and betterment of our club. It is hard to see in what way they have achieved that.

Incredibly commercial? Wasn't that the whole point f going to Sixfields etc etc etc ? Why hadn't the sisu genius's thought of something like that ie hiring the Jag arena for games as was suggested to them on several occasions? All Wasps are doing is showing how incompetent Sisu are

Okay, simple question.

Forgetting about ownership (either the Ricoh or any new stadium will both mean us renting), would you rather a stadium 5-10 miles outside of Coventry with sky blue seats, or the Ricoh, in Coventry in yellow and black seats?

I know which one I would choose every time. A stadium in Coventry is much more important than the colour of the seats. This is all a very modern trend. Up until the 1980's pretty much every team in the land played to stands full of brown wooden seats.

Surely playing in Coventry has to be better than playing miles outside Coventry and as I say, this is not talking in terms of rental, or Wasps or whatever, just the basic notion of playing in Coventry.

I would take the yellow and black seats here everytime over playing miles outside of Coventry.

There are 2 differing reasons in this case.

Sisu gave them away at Sixfields to try and deceive CCFC fans into thinking that people were attending in numbers.
Evidently Northampton schools etc were targeted so it was a short term action.
I'm not clear whether they are doing a similar thing now back at the Ricoh, so in my mind that's poor marketing.

Wasps are building a fan base, in Coventry/Warwickshire area and targeting that area so it is for the long term.
I'm am very aware that Wasps are doing this so in my eyes it is good marketing.

Surely you can see this ?

As my sadness deepens on my journey to work in Northampton, as I loose CWR reception Radio Northants kicks in - with Stuart Linnel - in Northampton, Saints Rugby dominates, the adverts on BBC Northants are about following Saints with matchday commentary. Will WASPS dominate local sports coverage in Coventry, we take the skyblue phone in on a Friday night and after the game for granted as we fall further - will these go and be replaced by WASPS led equivalent, they seem to have a momentum we have SISU.

There's two choices as far as I can see.

Either Wasps become Coventry Wasps, or Coventry City become ..... errr ... Coventry Wasps.

Another thread of constant moaning, but I seem to recall when this was due to be be authorized by the beloved council, only a handful of people demonstrated.

I also recall posting that a full demonstration had to be brought towards the council house for them to bring us back home, something which all parties sat down and completed later on, but was laughed at for saying the council would eventually stab us in the back and very few saw it would happen... but it did.

Now everyone is up in arms and wants to move away from the Ricoh... Please can someone tell me where do you think were going to go, SISU cannot even offer a team capable of winning football matches and being competitive so why the hell are they going to spend 20m building fantasy land.

A very special thanks goes to everyone's main man good old Joe Elliott for begging long suffering fans to hand over their shares to these wankers.

I don't recall my kids schools (in Northampton) being targeted with free tickets by CCFC. The club playing in the town was a no news story. Saints, Cobblers and the COunty Cricket Club visit the schools and offer tickets/packages.

I want my lad to follow Cov. He wants to follow Cov. Problem is CCFC don't give a stuff, and haven't even managed to sort his JSB stuff for him yet - only been 6 weeks mind you, and I am still chasing this with the club. I suspect its the same with local CCFC fans. In other words, the marketing is non existent.

If he wants to follow local clubs to where we live i.e. Northampton, then who am I to stop him if CCFC don't give a fuck.

maybe if people actually listened to other peoples arguments rather than dismissing it out of hand as "but but but" and then a few days later repeating the same silly accusations or misrepresentations of peoples feelings. Then this forum would be a nicer place to be instead of heading towards being the next gmk.

Wasps are trying to build a longterm fanbase with free tickets, sisu in at a short term temporary northampton were not trying to do this, they were trying to prevent an embarrassing ghost town (with very limited success).

why is it that you are incapable of looking at a situation on it's own merits and come to a reasoned conclusion. This might sound harsh but this is at least the 3rd time I've seen you post a comment like this on this issue, each time you are responded to with a reasoned argument but then you do it again.

The one that sticks out for me is..
Bar 87 is to be renamed Bar 67. I know there is no reason for them not to, but what a fu**ing joke that is.

Others (taken from the Wasps' Forum)

- There will definitely be a timetable for buses from Warwick Parkway.
- There will be a shuttle service from Coventry.
- Car Park C actually has 750 spaces, not 500.
- Bar 87 is being renamed as "Bar 67".
- No cheerleaders.
- The stewards will be hired by the stadium. CCFC employ their own.
- The Coventry based Games-Makers from the 2012 Olympics, will be used as meeters and greaters on match days.
- Wasps will met with all stewards and meeters and greaters to explain how Rugby works and what the Wasps match day experience is about.
- Fully branded new shirts will take 12 weeks from the announcement (so mid-January), as that's how long Kukri need.
- Pins & Stripes will be selling licensed range for formal wear (including tweed jackets) in the shop.
- Tickets for Troops will continue. Ticket deals offered to Warwickshire Police and emergency services and armed forces.
- They will look at a flexi ticket for 6 games next season.
- They will look at a legacy membership for current STHs who can't make every game.
- Food for STHs at the first game will be in the Jaguar Hall. There will be bands and rides from the Winter Wonderland event. The hall is used most Sundays, so may not always be available.
- England ballot to stay for STHs.
- 30,000 flags on orders for the first game.

- Cask Ale bar to be kitted out for the Irish match - prices being looked at to make sure they match high-street prices.

- Mulled wine and mince pies at the Irish match.
- Wine and Champagne bar at the Irish match.
- They are looking to commemorate the final game against Castres, but are unsure how to - suggestions welcome (I've suggested a public flogging of Stuart Barnes...)

Seems incredibly commercial, I'm glad I hate Rugby.

Personally, despite liking the Ricoh, I can see myself wanting us to move quite quickly once we see all the Wasps badges and colours splashed all over the stadium.

Take me home, Highfield Road.

'Incredibly Commercial'................It seems incredibly professional to me !! It's easy to snipe but we've always been treated like a bunch of moronic sheep by our owners..............No promotion or marketing, queue and enter, overpay, sit quietly and don't dare protest, go home disappointed
, come home and listen to all the excuses on local media !
