Personally I don’t think he is able to go out and get who he wants Chaplin sale was to balance the books I feel, people can say groundshare won’t effect anything but let’s be real to incoming players we are trying to attract it doesn’t look good.

We know you think it's the groundshare, you've said enough times. Fact is we've signed a fair number of players, some for money, and we've got a significant offer out for another target. This is down to poor management of the transfers and nothing else

Forrest wouldn’t let the player leave without a player coming which in the mean time has alerted Lincoln not much more we could of done. We’ve offered similar terms to Lincoln we’re local ish to where the player currently is arguably a bigger club some might say it would of been down to the players decision where he wanted to go.Yes we’ve signed players etc but when we’re competing for players with clubs who seem let’s say a lot more stable these things can happen.

If this is true then Robins has been played in the market two summers running. With the way he recruitment department is running we should be doing better than this. Mowbray like being 2 days from kickoff having Baka and Biamou as our only options.

But he did get 9 players in very early on. Mowbray just kept waiting....and waiting....and waiting. Yes, it's frustrating that it's a position we struggled with last year but there will be other irons in the fire - remember Armstrong and how late he came in? As long as MR doesn't panic buy in desperation it's OK. Far from ideal, but OK.

It can be a bit of a lottery with strikers - they can look amazing at one club and useless at another.

Isn't Lincoln nearer Nottingham than Cov (Birmingham)?

The early business was great but when Chaplin left it was imperative that we moved quickly to get more reinforcement in that area. We waited too long for Chaplin last year and it meant it took time for the team to click. This year we waited too long for Walker and he's gone elsewhere leaving us very short.

It's not the end of the world but it's still very frustrating that two years in a row he's played it poorly up front. Any buy now is going to look like a panic.

So do yoy think MR should've just walked away because Walker wasn't coming in the building that very second and just carried on down his list of targets until he got to the first one that would sign immediately even if it's not someone he really wanted?

You talk about last year but when it looked like Chaplin wasn't coming he went out and got Hiwula and Bakayoko in. Then Chaplin signed anyway. He probably didn't want the same thing/have the money to happen this year.

Who knows where this might go - maybe he'll go for Bright with even greater gusto now (even though I think a striker is more of a priority)?

Whoever MR brings in up front I just hope he plays to their strengths. He seems to be adept at bringing in strikers and not playing to their best attributes, at least initially.

McNulty - looked poor in MR's preferred formation until injuries forced him to pair him with Max when he flourished
Baka - played him as an old-fashioned CF due to his height but clearly wasn't that type of player
Chaplin - supposed to be a poacher/predator but was playing in a deep 10 role most of the time. Another one we were told played best with a strike partner but we played one up top.

Even Hiwula looked poor for quite some time and even then blew hot and cold, with a few stinkers.

No I haven’t forgot and I’m quite happy to accept they said stop the legals against Wasps... hence the club signing undertakings saying so.

No legal action is being taken against Wasps - Wasps will only be chased for damages in the event that the sale is undersold. If the Ricoh is undersold then the council have to recoup the losses - that isn’t legal action against Wasps is it.

If as Wasps say, it was sold for the correct price then Wasps are not involved. They also stated that the complaint did not mean negotiations were stopped

The legal action impacts Wasps. Stop being so obtuse.

That’s like my dickhead mate who when we were kids and someone asked him to take his shoes off when he came in their house went “ooohhhh but I’m wearing trainers”. It’s the sort of autistic logic that doesn’t fly past about six. You should be embarrassed for employing it.

I get it. The ball is in Wasps court, it’s easier to moan at them because of that. But making out there’s no context at all is just silly.

Come on, the momentum Lincoln have. They’ve already made some decent signings, it’s not embarrassing at all.

Pissed off if this is the case. Glaringly obvious all last season we needed a striker. Going into a new season, still without a decent striker 12 months down the line is a joke

Really pleased he’s signing for Lincoln, now I can say I told you so and blame the ground, MR, Chaplin and of course, SISU.

And have a massive meltdown while I’m at it.

It’s a shame. Maybe Robins let Chaplin go on the understanding that Walker was all but signed, I don’t know. Easy to say he should have been brought in before letting Chaplin go but business can’t always work that way. Let’s just hope Baka gets off to a good start.

But again it does not impact wasps unless something is wrong with the sale.

But yeah the point is it’s a pretty big ball - it’s a ludicrous term that wasps knew we wouldnt agree to - funnily they haven’t publically announced that’s specifically what they want.

Do you actually think it’s a fair term?

Why is it poor management of transfers? Players and other clubs dont have to drop everything so Coventry can sign targets. We are no different to any other club.

Judging by the disappointment expressed I would say ‘yes’.
Some you win, some you lose. Isn’t that the nature of transfers? I also think that saying we should have held on to Chaplin is a bit strange. We doubled our money on one of our substitutes...and I liked him!

We spent money on Allen, Jobello and Kastaneer and still have the whole month to get 2 players Robin's wants.

I don't think MR would keep saying he wants a couple more if we weren't trying to get them in the door.

I don’t think fairness comes into it. Once you put our future in the hands of third parties all bets are off.

Unlike some on here, I think this is more about bad luck (i.e. Forest's change of manager) than bad handling on our part.

I think MR and Chris Badlan will have other strikers in mind.

Not that worried if we get someone in for Saturday or not - but we certainly need someone in before end of August.

Could understand why he would want to go to Lincoln, especially if Grant has signed for them who he would have grown up with at Forest.

Pretty disappointing that we're going into the season far weaker in an attacking sense than we did last season, it doesn't bode well at all. Selling two strikers both relatively proven at this level to replace them with nobody is piss poor, yes we might get somebody but I can't help thinking it will end up being a punt on a loanee.
