Whose talking about terrestrial channels ‘it is what it is at the time, the emergence of
Sky Netflix etc has removed the need for quality programmes on terrestrial tv, so it’s all
Cooks, removals, real estate etc.
Terrestrial TV today is woeful, but it didn’t use to be and some of the programmes
Mentioned on this thread still haven’t been surpassed by anything new.

There area host of Scandi Noir crime dramas that are infinitely superior to Colombo etc - most old programmes were not great

Read through the entire thread and it seems no-one mentioned any of my favourites, though I admit they must pre-date most of you:

Riviera Police
The Man in Room 17
Tales of Mystery and Imagination
Man About The House
UFO (all episodes are on Youtube)
Space Patrol

Had a look at an old London Palladium show from 1965 .
Bloody hell it was like back being 8 yrd old .
An Italian puppet character Topo Gigio used to get a weekly slot .
Totally escaped my memory but boy he used to make us laugh with his funny Italian speech .
Sunday night was bath night for four of us back then, soon to be seven lol.

It's been mentioned a couple of times but Phoenix Nights is the big one for me.

It's one of the funniest sitcoms of all time but it's like it doesn't exist. It's never repeated, it's not available on the 4 On Demand service.

This will upset a few people. TV is just better now.

And I don’t mean ITV reality bollocks I mean proper stuff.
How about recent year comedies? Nothing unusual these days to watch a whole show and not even smile once.

And there wasn't the bullshit 'reality' shows back then either. And they are not just on ITV. I should know as the wife loves them.
