Didn’t he threaten to bomb Mexico earlier today/late last night.

Agree with your Mark Carney comments though, he’s played Trump for the fool he is. Fair play to the Canadian people as well. Before Carney stepped up there was a strong possibility that a Trump stooge on the right of Canadian politics might be the next PM and empowered Trump to be even worse than he is. Been to Trump what Mussolini was to Hitler, a good little pet.
We’ll see how Scheinbaum responds to this latest threat, but he went back in his hole after she stood up to him a year ago. He gets weak at the knees for confident men who project power, which is also why he backed off from Macron at the WH last year.

Classic playground bully.

I would trust Donald to look after Greenland more than NATO.
It's nothing more than a massive financial grab of the large mineral/metal resources. Russia & China aren't invading Greenland. US has too many submarine assets etc that could prevent any sort of land grab. Anything else could be sorted by building new bases on Greenland that would deter any remote threat from Russiaa/china.

The approach European and NATO leaders have taken toward him has failed spectacularly.

I’m not sure if they/we could’ve done much else to be honest. It was imperative that the US didn’t walk away from Ukraine completely.

Been saying for a long time NATO/Europe basically outsourced its defence to the US for way too long. That leaves us exposed. Even after the Ukraine war started many didn’t contribute the 2% of gdp on defence and as has been discussed on here before have continued to chuck billions at Russia for energy

The stance has at least bought NATO/europe some time to get their shit together.

Find it interesting that Canada was on course for a big swing to the right until Trump stuck his nose in.

Overnight he generated huge anti American sentiment that is still in place. The American anthem gets booed at sporting events, even when requests are made to ‘respect the anthem of our opponents’, Canadian TV is full of ads proclaiming companies to be proudly Canadian or products made in Canada.

At the same time the number of Canadian visitors to the US has plummeted. There’s towns just across the border that used to be flooded with Canadian day trippers on shopping trips every weekend that are now practically ghost towns. There’s an ice hockey tournament that takes place every new year that has had dire attendances this year, the reason? Canadians won’t cross the border to attend.

Completely at odds with what we see here with people cheering him on and nobody on the right having a bad word to say about the way Farage fawns over him.

It had a similar impact on the Australian elections too. Conversely, Trump basically bribed the Argentinians into keeping Milei in office.

Wouldn't trust Europe to "get their shit together". Announced a big defense budget/spending plan then started worrying about keeping the spending within the EU rather than actually getting the actual kit etc they need. Then you have EU defense businesses that want to expand but complain it'll take them years to get the planning permission/licences etc to do so.

For allTrump's talk not sure he'd even get congressional approval to "annexe" Greenland anyway. Enough "rebels" within Republican ranks to scupper it. And if he doesn't move quickly he's likely to be facing a hostile Congress after the mid-terms (November) anyway.

In a fully functioning democracy with appropriate guard rails he’d have been removed from office already.

Why does he need congressional support? He’ll just do what he wants anyway.

Regards the point on a mineral grab, the Danes have said they’re more than willing for mining companies to move into Greenland but there’s been no interest from US.

Little interest from US oil companies in re-investing in Venezuela but Trump's convinced there would be.
Maybe some companies aren't interested atm but Trump has been convinced that there is a fortune under Greenland that US should have. When he first mentioned annexing Greenland (during his first term) it was to do with its wealth - not for security.

It looks like she’s looking over her shoulder to reverse then goes to move forwards and he’s walked in front of the car as she looks forwards. He shoots immediately causing her to involuntarily accelerate harder until the car crashes.

Someone is shouting “get out of the car” but in the other video there’s an ICE truck driving towards them shouting “get the fuck out of the way” IIRC.

That about right?
She does reverse first and anyone who drives will know why, to create the angle to pull away without hitting him, if she wanted to run him down she'd just put her foot on the gas and go for him, clearest case of excessive force as you'll see imo.

Both are probably being done because there are opportunities for him and his cronies to extract money for themselves.

That's the way I see it. She's looking behind as she reverses and when she pulls forward again the guys walked in front of her car, which she doesn't expect. And his almost instantaneous reaction is to shoot the driver, causing it to look even worse. Now of course a driver should ensure their path is clear before moving, but we've all put a car in gear and rolled forward after reversing without looking when we feel sure there's no-one in front of the car. If it was her intention to run him over, she could have done it far more easily a number of times before the incident.

The main fault is with the man being far too willing to fire his gun.

Well there won’t even be an investigation it looks like. If you work for Trump’s goons you can murder US citizens and escape even just someone looking in to why you did it.

But for much of that time the US has relished being the main player of NATO. They want to lead it, they want to be in charge of operations. They want to prevent other nations having nuclear weapons, which potentially leaves those nations vulnerable so as part of that you have to subsidise their protection - otherwise what's in it for them?

As much as we and others may have liked not having to spend as much on defence due to the US picking up the slack, the US have enjoyed having that status just as much. No-one in NATO has forced them to spend the amount they have on their military or the protection of NATO allies - they've done it because they want to because they like to be important and throw their weight around.

Oh, I was never expecting there to be. And if there was it would definitely have resulted in the person responsible being exonerated (or probably even rewarded) while the woman killed would have been put down as an enemy of the state. I mean, that's the narrative Trump has put forward since it happened.
