Their training/rules say not to shoot someone in a vehicle unless they are posing a threat with weapons other than the vehicle itself. Which clearly was not the case here.

That’s what I said. I don’t think he had any need/reason to have his gun out in the first place and then probably panicked once she accelerated (and she might well have panicked and accelerated when he pulled out the gun)

Like I say there’s a video of the angle in front of the car not behind and the agent is clearly in front of the car
I think Steve is bang on

I think both panicked. The problem is if you’re an agent of the government you should be trained not to.

Not sure why he had his gun out in the first place (there was no apparent threat at the time), not sure why she ignored requests to get out of the vehicle and then accelerated with him in front of the vehicle.

You just don’t fuck about with law enforcement in America though and this just ended up being a sad totally avoidable tragedy
I consider your assessment is balanced & likely accurate.

She was given instructions to both get out of the car and to drive away.

When I worked there the advice I received was to keep your hands visible and away from your body if ever stopped by law enforcement.
One day I did get speeding a ticket driving to work on an important day for the project so my haste made me late anyway. :cautious:

Think he means the administration caused it and the person pulling the trigger was but an actor on their stage

Did he mean that?

The amount of police killings in the US over the last 10 years hasn’t changed much. It’s around 3 every day - 1,000 a year

They aren’t included in the statistics?
Doesn’t look like it.

The bigger issue is people dying while in the custody of ICE; over 30 already have since Trump took office which is the highest in over 20 years.

If there are no consequences for law enforcement acting in this way then it doesn’t seem avoidable to me at all.

There should be consequences.

Think he means the administration caused it and the person pulling the trigger was but an actor on their stage

I meant the two individuals caused it probably both by panicking in that situation. I saw no need for the agent to draw the gun as she was no apparent threat. Also why put yourself at risk if you’re the lady though 🤷‍♂️. Totally avoidable

I was going to question the agents training but looked into it

‘Ross served in the Indiana Army National Guard from 2002 to 2008, during which time he was deployed to Iraq.

During his deployment, Ross was awarded the Army Commendation Medal, Army Good Conduct Medal, Global War on Terrorism Medal and the Iraq Campaign Medal among others, according to the Indiana National Guard’

So he knows what he’s doing with a firearm and appears an impressive background. However if the stories are true about him getting badly hurt last year (I take everything trump says with more than a pinch if salt) then WTF is he doing back on the streets in that role so soon as surely he would still be mentally impacted by what had happened

I was waiting for one of the Trumpers to post that video as justification, knew it was coming.

It changes nothing. In fact, if anything it makes it worse for the officer.

She says 'I'm not mad at you'
He puts three bullets in her face and calls her a 'fucking bitch'

Absolute c**t, he'll get away with it of course but it's murder.

Who is a Trumper? Also, who is posting it as a justification?

Does anyone still believe that Trump is a president of piece? FIFA aside.

His international crimes using the military are stacking up and his latest bullshit about needing Greenland to protect it from Russia and China is such bullshit. Greenland is an under NATO protection, if he wants to protect it from Russia and China all he has to do is stick to the USA’s NATO commitments. At the end of the day he’s Putins man (the heroes welcome he gave him is all the evidence you need of that) and Putin wants the breakup of NATO. Putins wish is Trump’s command and that is all Trump is setting out to do under a false pretence.

I would trust Donald to look after Greenland more than NATO.

He’s a diplomatic nightmare. How do you handle him? They’ve got to try an put him off without getting on his bad side and/or end NATO.
I genuinely think he'd respond better to someone actually standing up to him more aggressively. They've all been fawning over him, something he's probably taken as a sign of weakness; that's not including calling him "daddy", which was just weird.

Mexico’s leader stood up to him and he backed off, the same with Mark Carney.

The man who singlehandedly saved Venezuela, or a group of countries whove never actually sorted anything and only get loud in packs hmmmm
Saved Venezuela from who exactly? How much do you expect the average Venezuelian life to improve now? Who’s going to oversee that and how are they going to achieve it?

The creation of NATO prevented the real prospect of WW3 by showing strength in unity. Trump and his ilk are only interested in sewing division and playing Putins tune. History will show that they are not the good guys.

This isn’t the most illuminating another shows her driving straight at the person
Now the situation escalated completely unnecessarily
He didn’t need to stand in front of the car
Even with the car moving he gets out of the way and so no shots are necessary
Tragic waste of life that was bound to happen and will happen again because the actions of the trump immigration policy.
From the angle of where she is headed I think it’ will be arguable in law that he feared for his life nd so shot the person
Again that said the fuckin bitch comment is really bad
It looks like she’s looking over her shoulder to reverse then goes to move forwards and he’s walked in front of the car as she looks forwards. He shoots immediately causing her to involuntarily accelerate harder until the car crashes.

Someone is shouting “get out of the car” but in the other video there’s an ICE truck driving towards them shouting “get the fuck out of the way” IIRC.

That about right?

Maybe, the risk is he retaliates or it’s used as justification for him to take whatever action he wanted to do anyway.

Didn’t he threaten to bomb Mexico earlier today/late last night.

Agree with your Mark Carney comments though, he’s played Trump for the fool he is. Fair play to the Canadian people as well. Before Carney stepped up there was a strong possibility that a Trump stooge on the right of Canadian politics might be the next PM and empowered Trump to be even worse than he is. Been to Trump what Mussolini was to Hitler, a good little pet.

He’s currently threatening to attack a fellow NATO member; it’s clearly not working.
Yea that’s fair I guess my point is I’m not sure being firm will work and could backfire. The examples provided show it can work but currently it feels like the stakes are higher and the situation more delicate.
