should plead guilty then Trump will pardon him when he leaves office in January -cynical but true.

Although they had a falling out towards the end I reckon Trump would pardon him just because Bannon would threaten to give info to the feds.

Except he won't be leaving office in January, he'll be elected for another four years.
I honestly thought he'd have been shot by now.

I really hope you are right, but Clinton had similar polling at this point before 2016.
Hopefully the big difference this time is that at no point did Hillary poll at over 50% of the vote like Biden currently is. Still not counting my chickens though. I wouldn’t be surprised at all if Trump wins again despite losing the popular vote.

Yep. In the current era I'm not putting money on anything. His behaviour in office should see Trump already behind by a landslide. Fact he's only a bit behind tells you that a lot of people either are so entrenched in the Rep/Dem bTTLE they won't vote otherwise, they can't accept it's a massive mistake or are just stupid.

Then there's the gerrymandering and electoral college system which seems to favour Rep, not to mention the potential voter registration/mail-in ballots to hamper those more likely to vote Dem on grounds of voter fraud even though there's little evidence of it and most of tht which does occur is by Rep voters, and the potential for Putin to get involved because he doesn't want to lose his useful idiot.

I'm far more surprised Obama wasn't. Idiots with guns on the whole are Republican/Trump supporters.

The last assassin was a die hard socialist wasn’t he?

He’s certainly playing the part. Not sure that the constitution would let him get away with it but I doubt he’ll go with anything resembling grace as it’s below the man.

He's been allowed to get away either a fair bit already by complicit Rep's.

If he loses he won't accept it, will call it a sham and rigged. I reckon he'll effectively put out a 'call to arms' to his base and we'll see people with guns actively out on the street trying to 'reclaim' their democracy or even trying to take over federal offices in their regions. It used to be stuff you associated with Africa but it seems almost every election anywhere now whoever loses claims it's rigged and isn't valid.

A natural disaster here or there might be enough

Seems more sympathetic to the fires in California this year.

I’m more impressed they could spot an asteroid that is only 2m wide 2 years ago.... that must be a typo.

One thing I'm struggling to get my head round is this "sell TikTok to a US company or we'll ban it" from a party that is supposedly small government. They're literally trying to tell private enterprise who can and can't own them.

Part of me would love them to sell it to a company from another country, say Canada, just to see the reaction.

Trump is very protectionist.
He fell out with the Koch brothers over it who are pro globalist unfettered free market

And thats the sort of reasonable stance we'll be coming up against when trying to negotiate a trade deal. Can't see it ending well for us.

Doesn't have to evolve a lot further.
They're/It's playing into his hands.
They need to have a think if they really want him gone in November/January.

In the beginning, I followed American politics quite closely, the whole ridiculousness of it all. He can't say that, oh wait he can. He can't do that, oh wait, obviously that's ok as well. Now I just try to stay clear of it all, I stay sane that way! 😅

"Fake News" is probably the most dangerous statement Trump has come out with. A reason to ignore all logic if you don't like the question or answer. The phrase has been completely redefined, so when you have lunatics peddling stories like "Pizzagate". How do you explain to the easily led the difference between that and hard working journalists?

Trump didn't create the hatred but he stoked the fires and put it under microscope. It's the same with Brexit, no one was brave enough to speak or listen before the problem peaked.

I hope the Trump experiment is over this year because if it isn't, it will take a long time before this left/right extremism goes away.

The really scary thing is what comes next. I'm waiting for the next politician with the same views and actions as Trump but as charismatic as Obama (whatever your views on him, you can't argue he had charisma).
