Last night showed the limitations of some of our “ second string “ .
Robins must be looking at the lack of pace in the team , especially up front .
we are again in a great league position & in this window , it’s crucial to reinforce certain areas …..

Or that without Sheaf and Torp we didn’t look like creating anything.

Thought we were fine. If we had one of the three first team forwards we dropped (or a striker) we’d have been fine, same if we’d kept out first team GK in. We knew we had no depth there beforehand. Midfield and defence did fine though I thought, especially considering the shape change.

How many teams in the top 6 would Godden and Simms walk straight into?

Not reinforcing the (underperforming) front line in this window is a major risk.

IF that happens, and we let O'Hare go then you can say goodbye to the playoffs.

At some point the midfield goals will dry up - and we will fall away, unless we bring someone in who can start putting them away.

Doug has a 5 year plan - but how many more opportunities are we going to get that are this good? The Hamer/Gyokeres money will only go so far...

This is our first team front four MPG right now to be fair, the idea that we’re relying on goals from midfield isn’t really fair.

It will, but we’ll quite likely be seeing a good bit more for Gyo in the summer.

It’s really not very likely that wright sheaf saka Ohare and palmer will all suddenly stop scoring and Thomas and kitching are due a couple
Kitching has not looked right since his suspension, only looked at it when Thomas come on

Which is why we’re after wingers.

You have to establish cause and effect. Is it the strikers who are not finishing the chance or the service to them?

As I’ve been banging on for a while, we’ve struggled to create good opportunities for our strikers in recent games. Simms, it is fair to say he’s out of form and lacking at confidence. Godden, however, is perhaps the most reliable finisher the club has had in years. Yet, his contributions (Oxford aside) has been much reduced since the start of the season.

My hope is that Torp will offer an outlet from deep with his passes to get Simms, Wright and Sakamoto in behind defenders.

If we don't have s striker lined up this window, stick Palmer up front instead of Godden.
Great at shielding the ball, can run at defenders, good feet, strong shot, good movement and all round strength on the ball.
With respect, stick to spectating. Terrible shout.

Agree - Think any new striker will rely on this money in the summer... More importantly I always wonder how do people pronounce 'Gyo'? Do you go with 'Yoh'?
Ha, I would say ‘Geo’ but I’m fully aware it makes no sense in terms of how you actually say his name

Considering the wide players both want to come inside, Palmer as a false 9 may not be the worst shout in the world.

It is when you factor in the following:
- Palmer thrives when he has space
- Palmer has less league goals than Godden and Simms
- COH plays as a CAM, so Palmer wouldn’t be a false 9, he’d play as a striker

So what are we actually improving by playing Palmer as a False 9?

Robins will continue to support his players until it’s obvious they need to move on. At the moment they are Not likely to move on if our squad needs depth. BTW I feel Robins knows his players better than any keyboard fan. We don’t know what he is asking of his players. saying they are here to score goals is easy. Contributing to team performance is equally important.

I’ve never heard Robins criticise individuals and if anything he’s more likely to point out what they are doing well when a player has a tough patch.
