Time for Lampard to go? (16 Viewers)

Sacking him is unikely to improve survival chances. Obviously there will be stacks of candidates but then in the summer its likely the replacement will go as well. You then end up with 3 managers and 3 lots of backroom staff in les than a year

I tend to agree with you, it will more than likely put us back in the managerial merry go round we all got so sick of years ago.

Im just saying I can see it happening with a defeat Saturday and the reasons why. Depending on other results we could start to become detached from the pack, none of us want that early on

Cheer up lads you’ve got Everton to play next week and with the way things are going with the tiny squad and injuries, the grounds man will probably be playing in defence 👍

Lets say the worst happens and we lose the next 3 matches , where would you sit

2 wins 9 losses
I'd give him the season regardless and then assess at the end of the season. I always thought we'd need to yo-yo to get established, as I think Ipswich will go on to do for a few seasons.
The expectation on here is that we'd finish in the bottom 3 and it was predicted by the bookmakers as well.

The team was also written off before the Forest game and no one expected us to Newcastle 4-1. Saturday was really not good but we will pick up points in games we may not expect to.

If hes here at the end of the season and we're relegated then Id keep him given his track record with us in the championship.

If he doesnt have us in and around the autos going into Christmas then I'd look for change, if he does and gets us up and starts badly in the prem again I'd look to get someone new in.

My main issue is how we are playing . But i respect ypur opinion

Why is it brainless though?

Im not saying get rid of him, im saying i could understand why if it happened

90% of the fanbase have said the same thing. Stop playing those clearly not good enough for this league, stop playing with the handbrake on. If we do lose Saturday, that would be 9 losses in 11 in all competitions. Managers have gone for a lot less. Yes he has credit in the bank, but nowhere near the levels Robins had, and Doug didnt think twice there.

We never see eye to eye on here, but this 'just glad to be here' lark has to stop from you and others. 25 years it took us to get back. A quarter of a century. There is absolutely no guarantee we come back up, we must do what we can to try and stay here no? If we go down we go down, so be it, but it will be a lot more palatable to have shown the best of us as a team, turn over 1 or 2 of the big boys, show some passion and fight and give it our best shot. No one would have any qualms if it was all left out there for 90 minutes 38 times.

The performances v Hull, and Fulham just arent good enough
You've got to remember there are people who would happily take going down in 20th with 15 points with Lampard at the helm, than change managers to try and find someone who could keep us up. And they can't be reasoned with.

I'd also give him the season, and he's also the manager I'd want us to have in the Championship if that's where we end up.

Saying that though, I could see him stepping down if we were to be relegated.
Not sure why and I could well be wrong, but I don't think he'd want another season managing in the Championship.

If we went down it's unlikely he'd get a top flight job in this country however.

He’d go off to the podcast circuit or maybe abroad I think.
Abroad possibly. I do think he might stay to try and get us back up though; proving you can bounce back is a good quality - didn't do Farke any harm wrt his career.

Yeah, possibly. I guess it could depend on the circumstances of how we'd have been relegated.
If we went down by a couple of points, he potentially still could.

Fingers crossed it's not something we need to worry about anyway!

Think it’s too soon but the subs cost us today. Awonyi is one of the very worst forwards I’ve seen play for us. Picking him over Simms isn’t good for confidence, Simms works hard and has scored.
EMC I wanted to step up but isn’t good enough and the same with MVE.
You obviously didn't see Jonson Clarke-Harris and Tyler Walker play for us in recent years.

I was disappointed with the Spurs performance, and was slightlly bemused by Frank's upbeat reaction to the defeat. To follow it up with an even worse performance (possibly one of our worst displays under Frank in 2 years) with the same team, and the same subs too. But he has loads of credit in the bank to be talking about him going

I want us to stay up as much as the next fan. I’m not just glad to be here - I just think when assessing performances we have to be realustic. It’s not defeatist. In terms of Lampard the reason getting rid of him would not be a smart move is that I think he’s got as good a chance of keeping us up as anyone else. The new manager “bounce” is no longer a thing - ask Spurs. Lampard has a squad that he’s had to ready for the PL with £120m - thats peanuts to try and build from the championship team. No one else would have been or will be given more - so they would be constrained in exactly the same way. He has an affinity with the club and squad which is probably worth 9-12 points this year. Getting rid would be a massive risk. And let’s not forget he’s just signed a new contract - it would also be expensive

If he doesn’t want another season in the championship then he tactically needs to get us in a way better place and ultimately results need to improve

Saturday is massive

saying “no one could do better than being defeated almost every game” is in fact defeatist.

Lampard leaves when he wants to.
He & his staff have that much credit.

This thread was started tongue in cheek surely.
& a brainless bandwagon from the usual suspects has ensued.

……or realistic. Why did no one raise this thread after Forest? Or Newcastle? The fact is the football world is littered with ridiculous knee jerk decisions based on no knowledge of the game such as many posted on here. I don’t think King falls into that trap.

Maybe defeatism is realistic, but it’s still defeatism. You’re literally accepting defeat.

The irony in your second sentence amuses me though. Of course everyone else has silly opinions and yours are sensible ones that the club owner agrees with lmao

“We’re going to get tough games here,” said Lampard. “I had this feeling before the last game that everyone expected us to beat Fulham because they were below us in the league.

Did we? I think most probably expected a bit more regardless of the result along with subs that didn't kill the game for the second game in a row.

As soon as you see EMC and Taiwo ready to come on you know what's happening.

The likelihood is we would still go down.
