So the council can offer something to the football club that has no value really as we (the club) can't access any revenues.
The council can offer the freehold with the existing lease in place and / or a 50% stake in ACL. I believe they have said they will listen to any serious offers for either. The unencumbered freehold is virtually impossible for them to offer, that would require ACL to negotiate cancellation of all their contracts (with compensation payable to tenants) and then CCC to do the same with ACL. Of course there is nothing to stop SISU bidding for 100% of ACL and the encumbered freehold and then negotiation the cancellation of any contracts in place themselves.
It appears to me that we've ended up with SISU asking for something that can't really be offered as every time they're asked for something that can be offered they have been offered it and then had to reject it as it wasn't what they were really after!
You have noticed that pattern as well

yes all that the council are able to offer (ie physically can offer, not what they do or do not want to offer) has no value to the football club over the next 40 years which is why all the talk of offers to the council is ludicrous.
Of course the council can sell their half of acl which would be of great use to the football club but for some reason there has been no talk from sisu about buying acl (the one thing that provides great benefits and that it's reasonable to purchase) for a long long time.
The fact that there is such little understanding of this really rather simple issue is a great failing of our media.
The problem isn't just with the media though - it seems to suit SISU to obfuscate the issue too.
It's obviously similarly ludicrous to insist that the council put a price on something they can't sell, but it doesn't seem to stop SISU doing it.
Oh absolutely, I wasn't for a second saying it was the medias fault over sisu, sisu are the main people to blame for this they have deliberately asked for things they know can't be done and have constantly spun, however I expect sisu to do whats best for themselves and screw everyone else, I however expect the media to inform and educate, to get to the truth, instead of just allowing sisu to use the media for their own ends without challenge and without asking the questions that should be asked.
Spot on - I'm with you entirely on all of this. I'd love for it all to come out and for us to be able to dig through the evidence from all sides, and I'd like the press to ask far more searching questions of everyone.
Better still, I'd like to wake up back at Highfield Road and have nothing better to grumble about than the crap beer and the current left-back.
TBF one of the stronger positions down the years ,Bobby Mac,Pearce Burrows ooh and Marcus.
I think opinion was split on Marcus, but I always liked him. It always struck me that left-backs got more than their fair share of stick at HR, probably being perpetually under the cosh and pinned in front of the more vocal/p*ssed members of the Sky Blue Stand/West End didn't help! Take your point though.

I think it is understood by everyone that any leasehold purchase would effectively involve the purchase of the current leaseholder i.e. ACL. Have SISU ruled that out completely? Not heard that. It would be odd considering that the deal on the table before the council's bail-out was for SISU to purchase half of ACL on an extended lease. Seeing as the council own half of ACL then they can effectively sell on the lease, with the support of Higgs of course (it isn't as though there is a completely third party entity in there). There is absolutely no confusion over this at all as I see it, but then I have avoided reading as many of SISUs recent statements as possible so perhaps I missed something.
