Yes,that’s her, one of several people pointing out who owns the quotas, the concerns of food processing firms and the importance of tariff free salmon exports, not to mention the movement of fish owing to climate change. But, deny it if you want and see what happens when it comes to negotiations.

Processed fish exports is the major argument in Norway for joining the EU. IIRC our fish processing industry is bigger than our fishing industry and that’s because we process whole fish from the Norwegian fleet because of the tariffs Norway processors have imposed on them from the EU. Norway will just start selling its fish to another EU country to the cost of our processing industry. Who knows, us leaving might actually prove to the impetus for Norway joining.

Would you like to explain how much cash it is worth and how that cash comes about?

So then tell me how much it would be worth when we are out of the EU and not paying many billions for the privilege.

I can't believe some of the stuff I read on here either. It is as though you believe this amount will be zero once we leave the EU.

What do you even mean? The post you replied to said 'The CBI estimate that the net benefit to the UK of EU membership is around 4-5% of GDP or £62bn-£78bn a year. ' Those numbers at the end '£62bn-£78bn a year' are what the CBI estimate the UK benefits from a year. We get it mostly from having access to a $16.6 trillion a year Single Market of 500m people.

81e62b6b-ea3b-43b1-aa82-e84e9759c6e6.png

Our net contribution 2017 was £8.9bn. Taking the lower CBI estimate it is £62bn - £9bn = £53bn benefit. Though if we're out of the EU we obviously won't be getting the CBI's estimated benefits.

If we go to WTO deals commensurate with what we have now GDP is expected to decrease by 8.8%. So that would be GDP - EU contributions - 8.8%. So 1.56tn - 8.9bn - 8.8%.

If you're as smart as you make out then you must have already known this though.

Is this from the CBI survey and an interpretation of its findings?

Yes, they mention Bremerhaven here in Germany as being the most likely to benefit.

I have bought Der Spiegel magazine today. Front page: Under the party finance scandal of the AfD ( illegal anonymous party donations from billionaires .... sound familiar? Brexit campaign? ), Great Britain - Island of madness, Brexit drags a proud nation into disaster.

Britain is seen here as a sad case, and yet Lord Snooty, Farage, Davis, Lilley, Raab, BoJo etc., and now even May are still trying to polish a turd and sell it to the people.

Talking of Davis considering that he was Brexit minister at the time he asked the stupidest question regarding the divorce bill in the commons today and May just pointed out that he already knew the answer because it was he who negotiated it.

Mind you this is the guy who went into the divorce bill negotiations saying no no it isn’t £39M (or whatever it is) then came out saying yes yes it is £39M. He probably doesn’t even know what day of the week it is and if he does think it’s Monday he probably thinks it’s last Monday:)

They actually referred to the UK as a proud nation. The fact that the UK is dragging itself down has nothing to do with you comparing modern Germany with hard right Germany of the past.

I don’t think he cares and I am not sure if he is even working for the UK. He was hardly at the Brexit negotiations and he was straight over to the US agricultural ministry and giving talks to the Heritage Foundation. Obviously more important than Brexit negotiations.

Profit of 63 billion that we wouldn't have made if we were not in the EU?

Not true is it though. Unless we do no trade with EU countries after we leave. And that would mean they do no trade with us.

It isn't going to happen is it.

Of course it is. And also an extremely biased version. Yet another version of why we should hand over untold billions each year to have a massive trade deficit.

How do you know how that was calculated? Maybe it was allowing for reduced trade because of higher tariffs or the cost of the extra bureaucracy required. Hard to say just looking at the answer without seeing the workings.

Yes. Everyone is biased. All the so-called experts, the foreign press, the government’s own impact statements, the BoE, the haulier industry, the customs officials, the civil service, the port authorities etc... all of them remainers just trying to belittle the Brexit that honourable people like Banks, Wigmore, Farage, Davis, BoJo etc. promised us. Untold billions? Where did you find that quote? The “membership fee” is calculated as a percentage of GDP. Anyone can check it out.

It says benefit not profit doesn’t it? What was our total exports with the EU worth in 2017? I’ll give you a clue. It’s many many times more than £63B. I think once again you’ve failed to understand what’s been presented to you.

I don’t. I didn’t say I did, but I presume that the CBI employed some methodology as they will have published a report to back the figures up. Can’t be too difficult to google, but just say something against it because it doesn’t fit your view.... as with the fish, as with infrastructure being neglected by successive governments, as with there being no IT specialists being queue jumped by Romanian car washers. Just repeat the catch phrases you found in the Brexit media....

I have a feeling it will get passed through parliament but then go downhill quickly when the proper negotiations start.
After seeing PMQs today I rather doubt it.

You wanted everyone to take what was said as gospal as always. Whereas I want proof. I want proof on both sides. You only want proof from one side.

But as usual it is used as a stick to use when nobody knows what method is used.

So yes Mart.....evidence is the key.......not Mart facts.

Not failed to understand. Pointing out we don't have the details. But of course as we don't have the details it is open to be twisted by people like yourself.

Or if you know how it was all worked out and what it actually means would you like to share it with us?

So what do we call it for the majority that take money out? Do they have a minus GDP?

And I wondered why I had you blocked :wideyed:

Fishing.....show me where I am wrong.

Infrastructure neglected by successive governments. Show me where I am wrong.

People with skills we need not being able to get into the UK because they don't have an EU passport? You say the evidence. How about proving it wrong.

That is your problem. None of it is bullshit. And I couldn't tell you what pro Brexit propaganda is like as I don't go looking for it like you do. I have seen nothing about Farage other than from a few posters on here.

Using facts is not a strong point for you.

Farage is on TV all the time. Over 30 times on QT. Millions of views on YouTube. On Twitter. On the Radio. On US TV. Articles in most papers. The Express in particular.

And you claim not to notice him. Talk about playing with facts.

Fish is more complex than you claim. There are constant discussions about it. You claim I go searching for it and imply that reports explaining it are pro EU. You are always posting links when you think you have a pro Brexit case.

You say people with skills can’t get in to the UK. Not true of course. There could be more allowed if rules were adjusted, but the government made arbitrary promises about immigration control and are trying to keep to them. We don’t just need skilled people, we need all sorts to fill vacancies. You conveniently don’t see that either.

When I post information proving some things you say wrong, you claim you could find a pro Brexit version, but can’t be bothered. What sort of a get out is that?

I could block you for all this twisting and bs, but I like a good laugh.

It could well be like on here. Those who shout the loudest are in the minority.

You mean people like you are in the minority? Maybe that’s why you deny that Farage is in the news and pretend that the answer to any fact based link is that there must be a pro Brexit one, but you cannot be bothered to find it. Just say things to the contrary of reported fact and that makes Brexit good. And block people who post pesky facts to make your arguments correct.

Yes, failed to understand. The details are out there if you can be arsed to look. Even a most basic details such as how many billions of trade were done with the EU in 2017 would help you. The only person who has twisted is you. You’ve twisted benefit into profit for starters.

I don’t need to share anything with you. It’s all in the public domain if you can be arsed to look. You can’t be arsed to look so you’ve failed to understand,

No They get assistance until their economy reaches a certain point. I said „membership fee“ because of the constant analogies to a „club“. It makes it easier for some people to understand. The net „fee“ was 8,1 bn from 814 bn total according to ONS. About 1%. You called it untold billions or huge amounts of money. 1% is not untold billions or a huge amount when taken in perspective. Leaving loses us much more than 1% of GDP, so there is little point in leaving to improve our national income. Which is what Farage is now claiming by saying „it was never about economics“. His fans will follow that lead as usual and talk about „sovereignty“ and „control“, as if we never were sovereign and didn’t have control of our country, whilst the economy slows and people begin to feel the results of Brexit.

Most of it one-way, with Germany being the biggest offender.

A huge part of our income comes from the City where people can play with their money in relative safety, including people with dirty money of tax evaders. London having a reputation for that. So if you are using words such as „offenders“, please balance what you are saying with our financial importance.

Exports alone are many more times the benefit figure quoted by the CBI. Can’t help you with the imports. Always buy British where possible, unlike my brexit supporting mates driving around in German cars.
