Capitalism is if you can't survive by your own means you die. Any help from the state is unwelcome and unneeded and is just interfering with the market. It's far closer to socialism than capitalism that's for sure.
Not arguing about the affordability I flagged up I see?
Plus the support for it.
1. Retaining furloughed staff. Only need to do it until Jan and they get the 'bonus'. So effectively what they're offering is to pay the wages of those at the bottom end for two months, at which point they can get rid of them. Kicking the can down the road.
Secondly, it relies on the business having the cash reserves to pay the employee and claim it back later. Other option is employee defers getting paid until the business has claimed the money, which chances are they can't afford to do either. So does nothing for the small businesses that won't be able to use the scheme but large businesses will. Money for the rich.
2. Eating out. If you've not got the money to eat out then you can't afford to eat out. So again it's something that will be of greater benefit to those that have more money already. Basically the state is paying towards the middle and upper classes having a nice meal. If it does encourage poorer people to spend more money on eating out than it would cost them to eat at home it's actually making that household worse off as it's money that should be going towards more vital expenses. Besides which all it'll do is move the weekend trade to midweek. Eat out then and save some money. Won't give the businesses much extra revenue.
3. The capital investment is nowhere near big enough. If you want to make a difference you need to commit to far larger plans than what are essentially previous scrapped plans being brought back to life.
