Hotdog is an Americanism. In the queens english like wot beduth is, a “ hotdog” is a sausage batch.
Got my fresh batches from harry’s this morning, so I could have my bacon batches before going to the match.

I think I would call the bread item that a hotdog goes in a batch. One could put a variety of items into to this...cheese and tomato, fried egg, bacon, tuna etc etc and it would still be a batch. However, the introduction of the hot dog to said batch makes it a hot dog not a sausage batch. In order to make a sausage batch one would have to put a sausage and not a frankfurter into the aforementioned batch.
I also consider the more rounded, crusty (or soft) bread item to indeed also be a batch.
If you were to put a frankfurter in this I would call it strange.
