That's with 50 or more. James had 100 or more.

That is a mental price. And this isn’t me giving it the big I am. But I’d be getting my money’s worth within the hour.

No it isn't. Personal data is data that allows you to be identified.

The first of the emails in post #167 purportedly sent by the boat operator specifically identifies James and gives specific information about the booking. How is that not 'data linked to an individual so it provides particular information about that individual' [ICO - What is personal data? - A quick reference guide, example #4] ?

If I emailed ticketmaster and asked them whether you had bought tickets for the Southend away game, and they told me, no you hadn't, but you had bought a ticket for the Bradford match, would that not be a breach of the Data Protection Act in your eyes?

yes . but their cost price would be maybe £1 a pint - so even if you could drink 10 - there is still a big profit in it for them

Well yeah. But even so. I was spending £6.50 a pint in Birmingham last Friday.

We should set him a fair trial. Put him on a 3 hour river cruise with unlimited booze, if he drinks himself to death and dies he's innocent but if he lives then he's lied and should be nailed to the base of the Jimmy statue.

I get there is waiting for facts, but I feel a small sense of naivety from some.

If he was innocent in all of this he would have posted evidence to clear his name by now surely?

Jimbo has regularly said he has evidence to prove his innocence but now the moment of truth has come to show the evidence of what he paid and he’s disappeared. Doesn’t look good does it?

The Facebook page is hilarious. A proper witch hunt. People saying they are reporting him to the police, people offering £30 to sucker punch him.

I was on the boat and was slightly miffed about having to pay for drinks but still had a good time. I don't think he has deliberately done this. He's got a good business going with the coaches. Just think he's made an error but needs to put it right.

As someone who wasn’t on the boat it’s hard for me to tell those who were how to feel, however, the Facebook page is absolutely hilarious. ‘Gonna fill him in’ - over £30 all you can drink? Pretty funny. The whole time I assumed and hoped it would come out saying it was just a misunderstanding and all would be resolved. However, and it’s a pretty big however, his lack of response is awful, that added with the fact his partner has now split up with him over it, and it’s starting to look a lot more damning

I was going to see if anyone wanted to go halves on a pedalo, with a Tesco's meal deal thrown in, down at Southend, but I think I'll leave it now.

On a more serious note, I don't know James, but it sounds like he has suffered more than enough through mental anguish in proportion to people feeling they may be down by a tenner (if true) or so individually. Not keen on mob mentality.

Me neither. I met him and he seemed a really nice fella.

There is absolutely no excuse for intimidation and threats of violence.

He's guilty without even having a trial for some.

We do need another response from him though to this latest 'evidence' produced the other day. Hopefully he is able to explain himself.

Yep... shocking how he’s being treated now. Let him defend himself or failing that the legal bits should really start.
I’m personally agreived... not because of the boat but because he was getting a new stock of tiny Cov badges that I love... 3 for a fiver. I suppose that’s all gone for a ball of chalk now!!! Pfffffff or am I being a bit me me me me

Are people really dumb enough to threaten violence against the bloke on a public forum, based on what can only be an incomplete knowledge of the facts - that's ridiculous to my mind.

If there's an allegation of a genuine fraud here then the proper place to resolve it is in the courts. If it's a genuine mistake by someone who's screwed up, and they're trying to put it right, then maybe a little patience is needed. Would you really want to screw up someone's life over thirty quid?

As for the release of the invoice, I don't see a data breach there. The third party were already aware of James name, it's not unreasonable for the company to disclose how much they were paid for their services, especially if alternative claims were being made elsewhere.

It's a mess this, and I wouldn't immediately trust anything that I see from anyone on any side of it, but I also wouldn't jump to conclusions and threaten violence.

I'm aware of my next door neighbour's name, and their address, and their date of birth (I think), but it doesn't mean that I can contact Barclaycard and expect to be told how much he spent on his new sofa. Just because I've sat on that sofa, the information is not freely available to me. If I impersonate my neighbour, it could be a criminal matter. If Barclaycard know who's asking the question and still tell me, it's a breach of the Data Protection Act which can lead to criminal prosecution, non-criminal prosecution and/or external audit.

But I agree with the rest of what you say!

The shit car theory doesn't fly, when you consider Gus Fring hid in plain sight by driving a modest car. Now I'm not suggesting that James runs a meth and chicken empire and has links to Chile, but I also can't say he doesn't. No smoke without fire, yeah
