Grimes seems to be pushing on a lot more as well.

Although yesterday yeah Onyeka wasn't as in the spotlight as his first 2 games but still made a very good interception just as they were about to shoot.

Onyeka presence is doing wonders for the team and now teams are focusing on him more than on Grimes. If we get to the promised land, which is becoming more of a reality game by game we have to get used to seeing quality. That is no disrespect to our lads but they need a few calming influences that can take the fluid out of an opponent and can instill authority in our play. FL can do so much but you need brains and it is no coincidence that since Lati came in the defence seems more resilient. Lati is a smart player.

The point LG was trying to make that Lampard isn't good tactically based on cherry picking of an at worse indifferent period of form which he exaggerated to be worse than it really was. Further to that, in doing so also ignoring that Lampard got the team into record breaking form in the first place.

For arguments sake, even if we did bottle it (which we won’t), going into the season the consensus was that this team wasn’t a Top 2 team. So the conclusion is Lampard isn’t good tactically is just a ridiculous viewpoint.

When people talk about the last 13 games, they only mean away form specifically and even so, there were games where the performances deserved a better result.

In any case, Ipswich and ourselves have more or less played all the best at home and our away form should overtake Boro’s imo. They have by the most difficult run on the road to close the season.

On paper, Swansea is our toughest away game and their season could be over by 21/03.

The 3-1-6 shape was high risk, high reward strategy that unfortunately exposed us to too much risk. Onyeka and Grimes are playing as a partnership in a more defined 2 CM partnership and they complement each other well.

Onyeka is better than Torp and Grimes imo. He’s a solid Prem squad player so he will improve us and that’s a view I held before we signed him.

Grimes wasn’t ‘isolated’ on his own as he would mostly be sat alongside the CBs. Torp would be between the line of 3 and the front 2 pressers (Rudoni and Wright). That was the isolation point and frankly, the tactics and shape needed to be changed because teams could get at us far too easily.

The last 3 games we’ve averaged less than 35-40% possession which is a clear change from QPR, Norwich, Birmingham and Charlton away. As well as bringing Onyeka in, the tactics have also changed and it’s not just down to changing one player.

Sakamoto has also profited greatly from the tactical changes because his off the ball work has always been his best asset.

Those last 30 mins at Loftus Road could turn out to be a key point of our season.
It laid bare the stupidity of our full backs bombing forward when we just needed to protect an away lead.
We paid the price there and since then JDS and MVE have been far more disciplined.
The addition of Onyeka has given even more solidity to the away shape.

Stoke played for a 0-0 against us at their place and in much better form at the time. You are right, they will sit in and hope for the best. An early one would be nice to force them to try and play.

Honestly? I think we’ll beat them comfortably. Their away form is decent but have also lost 7 games and as also, back us to score 2 goals most home games.
