I've missed the after match slanging matches, fantastic read

Doesn't need to happen, say it was poor, get called all the names under the sun.... It actually makes the people slanging look much more unreasonable and unable to hold down a decent footy chat

Dave on CWR asking about an update on a return to the Ricoh and if we're still speaking to Wasps.
Think someone needs to break the news to him...

How did Hamer play? Not many comments on him and he looked class against Rangers

Got to agree it was really poor even Marosi was flapping today never saw that last season.

Not a great performance and a disappointing result (not that the result is very important).
We missed Dabo today. Allen was much better when he was moved further forward. JJ looked pretty sharp. Bapaga had a good game and I think he will get some game time in the Championship. Godden looked rusty, but took his penalty well. Burroughs played well. Hamer will be a reasonable replacement for Walsh. Hilssner looked a long way behind the rest in terms of fitness.

It's early days still.
Think Swindon have played more games than us already so will naturally be that bit more match ready and sharper- which they were!
Times are unprecedented at the moment. Pre season is usually planned (or at least started to be) before the season is over.... it is all over the place this year with some teams having only just finished the season.
We have also just had a week off which doesn't help!

Much rather have that test vs Swindon than what Luton had today.
A full strength team went to Berkhampstead Town (step 5 non league - same as Sphinx/Warwick/Cov Utd).... and won 9-0.....
Wouldn't have got much out of that....

Really that is poor, nearly as bad as commenting on penis sizes along with comments on family members those are things you did at infant school.
The family members talks are cringe to say the least as you said It’s like An upset kid in the play ground “suck ya mum” 🤣 talking about men’s penis sizes itself is just plain weird 🤣

Just an observation about our fitness in previous seasons under Robins we seem to start the season slowly , start to gain momentum and confidence and finish the season strongly

Gone are the days of flying starts and on our arses by mid January

Think certain posters need to calm down a tad

Can you say that again but can you try and say it in English this time?

Your posting history is a a lesson in talking shit and being wrong.

We definitely have more consistent seasons under Robins overall

Tbf we struggled against Nuneaton last season.

No idea why I’d call him an idiot tbh, there are enough “experts” on here who have done just that over the last 12 mths or so, I wasn’t one of them, but ok

Neither was I... But he criticised the performance which must mean.... He's an idiot

So now even the gaffa has talked about poor passing, players not putting enough in and the amount of work to be done, shall we agree that criticism even in pre season is actually a reasonable expectation

Last season's pre-season would not have involved wing-backs so it is a tough ask when fitness will be low. Patches of sloppiness and some brighter spells in the last 20 minutes or so.
Bearing in mind it is only pre-season this is what I thought:

Marosi 7 - apart from one scare his distribution is excellent and couldn't do much with the goals
Pask 5 - did not suit the wing-back role. When compared to others he didn't look up for it (lack luster)
Giles 7 - looked quick going forward and knows how to cross but needs to get back quickly for the defensive side
Hyam 7 - didn't do anything wrong
McFadzean 6 - one or two decent passes but also some very sloppy ones
Drysdale 6 - got turned easily a few times
Hamer 7 - solid again
Allen 6 - Jekyll and Hyde performance. Two sloppy passes (on what admittedly looked a slow pitch)' one which lead to their first goal. However looked threatening going forward with his direct running and pass for Baka's chance
O'Hare 6 - some nice short interchanges with Giles but didn't get enough of the ball
Bakayoka 7 - held the ball up well but didn't really look a threat. Worked hard as usual
Hillsner 5 - looks so off the pace and positionally struggled. I can't see how he fits in. Maybe once fit his ability will show?

Wilson 7 - good save from free-kick. Distribution is not at the same level as Marosi
Burrough 8 - looked far more confident than during Rangers game. Good pace and some nice touches. Not afraid to take defender on.
Mason 7 - looking for quick interplay. Always looks sharp
Williams 8 - solid performance and showed a good touch too
Thompson 7 - much better than Rangers game. Didn't do anything wrong. Looked comfortable
Eccles 7 - added some quality at the back with his touch and passing but nevertheless got caught out a couple of times for doing too much (hence normally midfield)
Kelly 7 - normal solid performance
Shipley 7 - some nice touches going forward. Don't think he is strong defensively
Jones 7 - looked sharper and more decisive than Rangers game. Good close control and decent long range shot
Bapagna 8 - quick and direct. Some lovely turns which left defenders for dead. Shame he didn't keep his head after long run to hit the target
Godden 7 - missed a good chance but did well to win the penalty with a quick turn and took it well

Interesting that Biamou didn't get on and Pontecelli not on bench again

People bang on about fitness levels but as stated I bet Swindon came back the same time as we did or very close too, they had games last we had a weeks holiday
