Transfer Rumour Summer Transfer Window 2026 (17 Viewers)

If we get Moura or similar profile LWB in, can absolutely see us switching to a back 5 and the return of the box midfield.

MVE - Thomas - Pinnock - Amenda - (LWB)

Grimes - Yirenkyi

Rudi - EMC

Awoniyi

Strangely I like this because I’d argue what remains (Hamer, Torp, Eccles, Onyeka, Tchouana, Tats, BTA) could all do a job in a couple of those positions). Would mean we need more CBs though 😅
I like a back 3 and box too but would have Pinnock LCB, Amenda in the middle and Thomas RCB. It also negates the use and effectiveness of Grimes, who is at his best dropping between 2 centre halves and dictating and progressing play from deep. In that system, I would adopt a 343, something akin to ~

Thomas ~ Amenda ~ Pinnock

MVE ~ New CM ~ Yirencki/Onyeka ~ JDS/New LB

Loum ~ Awoniyi ~ EMC

Our recruitment doesnt suggest this is the preferred formation though, as Rudoni, Hamer, Grimes, Eccles, Torp wouldnt get much game time.

I think FL may stick to his 4231 which ultimately might prove his undoing. Obviously hope I'm wrong with this last bit

What do you define as good value

Amenda, Awoniyi I think are unarguably good value signings. The rest less so. You spend £20m on a player you expect them to be clearly above the £3/4m ones you’ve got really. Otherwise may as well spend £3/4m

You generally spend 20 plus million on these players because their ceiling is much higher , hard to write people off after 1 league game

Just seen United fans on about Amass leaving for £7 million. Were we linked at one point?
I believe it has only been mentioned on here. We need better than him at present. He would be a great understudy for someone with experience though, but then we have two other LBs already who shouldn't really be playing in the PL

Moving to a new country and getting used to the pace and physical side of the Premier League is probably going to take a couple of months for some of them. We’ve got a lot of new faces as well, so they’re all still learning each other’s game, movement, patterns, positioning, all that sort of thing. I’m fine with that, to be honest. It feels like what we need now is a few older heads with Premier League experience to help settle things down a bit, and maybe that’s what Lampard is trying to sort over the next week or so. If he can do that, I think we’ll be alright. Could even see us putting together a decent early run, Arsenal and City aside.

Yea but 1 missplaced pass and all that

I agree btw

Only time will tell if Yrenikyi and Cherif are worth the dosh. They could realistically take 3 months to show their worth.

Personally I would persist with

Grimes Yerinkyi Rudoni for the forseeable, with Torp rotating with Yerinkyi and Onyeka with Grimes.

We need to get some sort of understanding there.

Awoniyi should be playing every game, as should Tchaouna. Amenda and Pinnock starting Saturday too please.

Onyeka's passing is nowhere near good enough to step in for Grimes.

I can't believe we haven't shifted more on yet
Part of me thinks it may be a self preservation technique in that they will be loaned out rather than sold on the basis that we can easily get them back if we get relegated. I doubt we would get much for some of the ones people think we should shift on anyway

Just watched some highlights, and Yirenkyi actually dropped a lot in between the centre backs last night.

Can maybe see him growing into covering Grimes there with time.
He could do it eventually I believe.

I yearn for that Midfield anchor. Hojberg im begging darling.

Asking questions isn’t writing anyone off. Just saying only two of the signings have hit the ground running really. Which is always a risk with young players. Hopefully they start showing their potential sooner rather than later though.

The acid test is Saturday. Glimpses last night showed the quality we have, even a few times against the champions there were snippets. I’d like to see an aggressive and mobile left back who is as athletic as MVE, and I’d like an experienced operator in the middle of the park who knows the league and can calm the game down and keep us moving up the pitch.

Pinnock will be a brilliant addition alongside Armenda, but someone to the left of pinnock and in front would be superb to let the forward lads create.
I just can’t see how a guy who played 4 games last year will be a brilliant addition.

I want to believe it but I just can’t. Especially at the amount that has been quoted.

Like how Mfuni fell through, I honestly hope this falls through and doesn’t end up happening if I’m honest. Feels another panic buy like Woolf was when we didn’t get Hughes.

We haven’t got Achemapong or Tomori so we’ve spunked £5m + £1m on a guy who’s played 4 prem games last season.

Feels exactly like how Woolf was

Massive difference in experience levels between those 2.

Woolf had clearly gone above his ability level with the back to back promotions. Pinnock was until last season a regular in an established PL side. So think the comparison is off tbh. Theres fair questions about whether his legs have gone or not but I think that’s different.

Comparing a player with vast premier league experience, to a player with significantly little in comparison. Awful shout.

Completely agree. Currently I don’t see Cherif and Tchaouma being £20m players and considerably better than what we already have. For £20m I expect them to be light years better than what we have

Everyone on here was praising Woolf before joining saying he played 20 odd games in the prem season before and was going to have such an amazing impact and was part of a promoted team

I said at the time I didn’t agree and just because he was in a promoted team and played games in the prem doesn’t mean he’s a premier league quality player and would be the equivalent of signing JDS or Eccles just cause he was in a promotion winning team and played games in the prem for us in the year we got promoted and everyone on here was telling me I was mad and a ridiculous take and how class he was going to be
