There's some wonder kid they have been keen on,that one?2bf the rumour mill has cropped up a few names for Brighton suggesting they want to sign a new keeper
Calling it now: we 100% sign Rushworth.
He wants us.
DK loves to negotiate and will feel confident in getting a decent deal (can see him pushing for "if we survive relegation" clause to make it even more attractive to Brighton)
Would that be permitted, as we have to play them and it would create a conflict of interest?
Im not suggesting that Brighton would throw games, my point is about Premier League rules.
They'd turn down anything below £15m id imagineWould Brighton turn down £10m+ of FFP 'pure profit' on a GK with just a year left on his contract?
I doubt it.
We don't know that he wants to stay. He's made positive comments about his time here and hinted he would be open to staying but that doesn't mean he isn't going to look at other offers and he won't be short of options. The club want him, he wants to stay …. It’s now about the money ( fee and package ) … it could get too rich for us, we all hope not.

Cant see Doug agreeing to thatWith Rushworth I can see an option for Brighton to buy back being a potential if we do get him. Few clubs throwing that in now, so wouldn’t be surprised.
£15m for a GK unproven in the PL is huge. They'll be much greater value elsewhereWhat is value?
£10m definitely
£15m I’m not so sure
Really good spot and last day of the season, we need a win and they are playing for nothing, it creates a perceived conflict of interest at least. Would a way around it be if he makes 40 premier league appearances for us then it triggers an extra payment? It's in effect the same clause as he would only hit that number early in season two if we stayed up.Would that be permitted, as we have to play them and it would create a conflict of interest?

I can see it being a clause tied to us getting relegated either that or they have option to match any accepted bidsWith Rushworth I can see an option for Brighton to buy back being a potential if we do get him. Few clubs throwing that in now, so wouldn’t be surprised.
If he’s available for £15m I’d snap their hand off. He is a premier league goal keeper.£15m for a GK unproven in the PL is huge. They'll be much greater value elsewhere
They have the option of triggering an addition year, so it's effectively 2 years left on his contract.Would Brighton turn down £10m+ of FFP 'pure profit' on a GK with just a year left on his contract?

Agree with this. I suppose every keeper has to get premier league experience by playing there for the first time at some point. He looks like he could handle whatever is thrown at him. Might be a few mistakes at the start but as long as we back him regardless, he should go on to play there for his career. Is PL experience as important for a GK?
being simplistic but a shot is a shot right?

Have you not seen the issues defending set pieces this year? You’re not up against an opposition player as much really right? If you’re a winger up against faster and stronger fullbacks that’s a much bigger difference. Maybe you’re against harder shots or players who can beat you from positions others couldn’t but the raw physical differences don’t matter so much.
Said it a few weeks ago, they are shopping and have potentially 55m+ on keeper sale fees this window.I’d guess their plan is sell Verbruggen and promote Rushworth, making Rushworth seem available is helping drive Verbruggen price up.
I'd imagine it is. League is quicker, stronger and the experience is different. Rushworth hasn't really played against sides that put him under pressure every game. Swansea were decent with him, as are we.Is PL experience as important for a GK?

Trafford is the world's biggest reason why I'd avoid buy back clauses. With Rushworth I can see an option for Brighton to buy back being a potential if we do get him. Few clubs throwing that in now, so wouldn’t be surprised.
no conflict of interest, these clauses are built in all the time based on team success. Villa had one with Cameron Archer when he was at Sheff Utd, they had to buy him back on relegation.Would that be permitted, as we have to play them and it would create a conflict of interest?

Depends on buy back value…. Let’s say it was an increase of £10m I think it’s a goer.Cant see Doug agreeing to that

He's going to have less time when he tries to pass from the back, it’s going to be a new speed for him to get upto scratch.
Burnley signed him for £19m and ‘could’ get back £31m not a bad deal if you want money…Trafford is the world's biggest reason why I'd avoid buy back clauses.
I think they'd have prefered a decent keeper that could stop a shot thou tbf.Burnley signed him for £19m and ‘could’ get back £31m not a bad deal if you want money…
Keeper would help I’ve got no doubt, yet team has 10 other plays to get past before. Can’t look at it in isolation completely, team close down etc etc there’s lack of shots. We’ve been bailed out by Rushworth plenty of times which I’m glad of, yet doesn’t always translate that wayI think they'd have prefered a decent keeper that could stop a shot thou tbf.
