what I would think about doing if we stick to a back 4 is having Milan steppng inside to make a back 3 instead of Grimes dropping back into a 3. Grimes can play in front of a back 3, he did it a bit for Swansea. Also Milan's pace becomes very useful in the recovery.

So the in possession shape would be

Rushworth
Milan-Amenda-Pinnock (if playing Thomas he is in the middle with Amenda left)
Caleb/Nokyeka-Grimes
Loum-Rudi-Big T-EMC-JDS

Didn’t we do something similar to this when Frank first was in charge? I remember Milan being inverted more often than not and occupying a midfield role.

Like Mfuni, think he’ll be good but incredibly harsh on Dasilva if he plays there as he’s been the player from last season who has stepped up the best, and I can only see him as LCB in a 5 otherwise.

I find the views on KKH interesting, in that there’s a lot of people positive about his defensive as well as offensive capability.

The feedback from his performances at PNE was really good and I would be optimistic he’s decent cover for MVE.

I don’t remember every game he’s started for us, but the ones I can recall are Millwall in the EFL cup where he was shaky on debut; Wrexham where he was part of a badly exposed makeshift back 4 and Ipswich where he played WB and I thought struggled. Other than that, I can mainly think of substitute cameos. This seems to have been forgotten or others saw the games differently to me.

Interesting how some players get written off immediately and others don’t. I’m guilty of this too. I wouldn’t write him off at all, but would stick with Milan for now.

Milan has always been defensively suspect, but retains both body strength and speed. Judging our players across in many cases the 100+ games I’ve seen them, I still think he’s one of the better bets to step up, albeit in a field where there aren’t many strong candidates. He’s also generally high energy for the full 90.

So do I.

Last season I thought he could cover for Sakamoto. We don’t need him for that now of course and playing there in the PL might be a bit of a push.

I feel sorry for him. He’s a good player but because Milan rarely seems to get injured he’s had very little game time for us.

Mve not only needs help from Frank he needs to look in the mirror, as a right back his positional sense and tackling ability are appalling, his recovery runs and pace are unbelievable so please use it, when you get the ball run forward with it, try a one two, forget the fucking pass stats and go for it Milan

Yes exactly. We just don’t break quick enough from the back. I’ll post some videos but you can see as soon as he has the ball he wants to be positive and on the front foot.
 
Smart signing, good cover for Dasilva and LCB. Will want to prove himself capable at this level.
 
This lad with Pinnock alongside him will be like the Fadz and Doyle partnership of a couple of years back. Amenda looks the real deal too

Could Rudoni play as a 8 alongside Yirenkyi? Then you could have Onyeka as a 6 (thinking of the 5-3-2 Lampard played in 24/25)

Maybe. Just feel leaving EMC and Tchaouna out isn’t the best and is that midfield strong enough to cope? Who would you play up front? Awoniyi and BTA?

EMC off Awoniyi, Tchaouna as the RWB. I'm calling at least one of these things now.

Right now, probably Awoniyi and Simms. When there up to speed, could move Wright or Chreif in there. Maybe EMC could possibly be a shout (probs jumping the shark)

Feel with Onyeka mopping up and Caleb, you’d at least have a lot of distance covered in midfield. Rudoni wouldn’t be a slouch either.

Course the issue is leaving out EMC but we could always switch like we did in 24/25 between a 5-3-2 and a 5-4-1

Just saying “we’ve got Frank Onyeka ohhh Yirenkyi in the middle” scans.

343 feels like we’d get overrun. I don’t know feel like we’re missing something at CM but agree 5ATB seems sensible.
