Does anyone know the details on the Jordan James £5m option to Leicester.

Is that available to everyone now theyve gone down?

Doubt it, it’s likely his price has gone up a little after scoring 11 in 32 for Leicester from midfield.

Especially if it’s a PL team like us that comes calling.

Mason-Clark has a lot of attributes that will suit the premier league. The fact people can’t see that is baffling

Wonder if we will announce any signings before they go off on holiday

I don’t think a player would be announced until after his own clubs season has finished at the earliest.

I expect it will be a slow process the way agents work, World Cup and players holidays. Managers always say it’s the agents and players that drag the process out. In an ideal world they want all their signings done before the start of pre season - it just doesn’t happen.

Whatever Doug does this summer, he needs to stay away from this thread! Some absolutely honking suggestions that would see us relegated.

We need to strengthen the team and bring in 6-10 players. Not Championship wannabees, mediocre players from derisory leagues in Europe, or past it journeymen that sound good because the have some PL experience but haven't been able to sprint in three years. It is going to cost us a bit, but we have to have a good go at it. The recruitment team are going to have to excel, but it can be done.

We won’t be spending the money Sunderland and Forest did, but the reality is that is what it takes. I can see about 5 coming in and maybe another 2 in January. What we can spend as a new club will shackle us under the financial regulations anyway. The newly promoted teams are always at a disadvantage due to the financial rules or risk being docked points.

It needs a sensible approach, that I hope Doug will take. Some of the signings Sunderland made were very good. There have been a few teams in recent years signing shite like Ben Brereton as their marquee signings. We cannot be one of them if we want to stay up.

I suspect we will sell a few players as well, which will be interesting.

We will sign players that no ones heard of from European leagues, doesn't mean they won't be up to the task though.

Don’t forget a fair number of our players have further improvement in them due to a combination of this years experience and natural progression. Thomas, Kitching, Saka, EMC, Rudoni, Wright and Dovin can all improve.

We signed 5 last summer, not a chance that’s all we sign when we’ve been promoted.

Even under Sisu with nothing but bottle tops and bumfluff we signed 14 going L2 > L1 and 9 going L1 > Champ

At the end of the day all our comments are stupid/wonderful at the same time and as with most of my comments they are made after I listen to what Doug and Frank are saying, and then make an opinion.
Doug - he has said this is a good squad, he has also said we will not do a Sunderland as he believes in loyalty to the players that got us there. I think he intends giving as many of them a chance as possible. Maybe this is where FL said he will have many disagreements over the coming weeks with Doug.
Frank - out of everyone connected with the club he knows what a PL player is made of and recently he has mentioned J Terry and B Thomas in the same sentence in more than two conversations. He has also said Rudoni is a champions league player and recently every time he has spoken about Grimes it is with respect, and unless he is bigging him up before dumping him, Grimes will be his captain for next year. FL said he learnt alot from past experiences and if you look at Derby he brought in 4 loanees from Chelsea and most of them became international players, so he knows his stuff.
Bet he goes for Mason Mount from Manure!
