I'm not sure his skills will be as useful either, he's fantastic when you have a lot of the ball and he can dictate play but you'd assume most games next season we'll be on the back foot.

It's the opposite for Onyeka, I've been disappointed in his performances recently but I think he'll be very useful next season as his mobility and ball winning will be even more important.
Grimes will be massively important next season, he has the long range passing ability that we will need as we will need to be very vertical next season.

Like the idea of signing Eric Dier , I would Imagine the prosect of playing for Lampard may be a massive influence for some players.
Agree with your second point S_B_D but not your first.

We'll need proven combative prem experience the likes of Henderson at Brentford, Xhaka at Sunderland come to mind.

Could Tyrone Mings (if he was available) be the centre back that helps our current defence?

Ivan Toney?

At the end of the day all our comments are stupid/wonderful at the same time and as with most of my comments they are made after I listen to what Doug and Frank are saying, and then make an opinion.
Doug - he has said this is a good squad, he has also said we will not do a Sunderland as he believes in loyalty to the players that got us there. I think he intends giving as many of them a chance as possible. Maybe this is where FL said he will have many disagreements over the coming weeks with Doug.
Frank - out of everyone connected with the club he knows what a PL player is made of and recently he has mentioned J Terry and B Thomas in the same sentence in more than two conversations. He has also said Rudoni is a champions league player and recently every time he has spoken about Grimes it is with respect, and unless he is bigging him up before dumping him, Grimes will be his captain for next year. FL said he learnt alot from past experiences and if you look at Derby he brought in 4 loanees from Chelsea and most of them became international players, so he knows his stuff.
If Doug wants to give as many of the current squad a chance as possible, we'll be going down.

Doug abc Frank are united by ambition.

We won’t start with the team from last year but nor will we rip it up abc start again.

Rushworth ( hopefully )
Milan
Thomas
Grimes
Onyeka
Tats
Rudi

Will all play lots of minutes next season I’m sure ….

By no means a statement signing but looking through expiring contracts and there’s a centre back/left back called Mika Marmol at Las Palmas. Formerly of Barcelona so have to assume decent technical level, has a Transfermarkt value of €10m which is rather high for a La Liga 2 player. Played 3 seasons in La Liga as well and looks to have done ok.

If Tank is the deal we think it is them be will be the 1st announced. But for me the 1st summer signing is going to be really important one as it could set the tone for what comes after. I would like us to get an established prem player that will come to help the younger inexperienced players through. If this is a good name others may follow with FL selling them the project.

Going to be hard work to get some targets but Doug will try to support and FL will give it a real go.

Always wary of defenders that come through teams like Barca. Usually haven't had to do much defending at all. Full backs are essentially wingers. Plus I seem to find in Spain taking a red card is seen as par for the course for a defender.

I guess no harm in looking for a free, but we need to make sure the defenders we have for next season are good at actually defending!

If we are to sign an experienced PL veteran I would rather it be an old grizzled centre back where pace isn't as important as it is for a wing back/ full back. Robertson has been a fantastic player but I would worry about him having as little impact as Kyle Walker at Burnley this season, who has had an equally fine career prior to that. As a general rule of thumb I would much rather we go for younger players on the up.

He has bombed at Dortmund this season. On the bench mainly. I don’t see him stepping up and when he doesn’t get picked his dad starts gobbing off.
He probably had the bet that both his sons will play for England one day . Not that he needs the money now I'm sure...just the kudos

He won’t
A man that can go against 95% of the fan base and front it out moving robins out and Lampard in he won’t allow the opportunity to pass

When he mentioned about doing it the Coventry way, sounds to me like we'll carry on with the same recruitment process just with a higher calibre player. Mostly young players we can eventually sell on for big money and a couple of older heads to bring it all together. And quite frankly, I'm all for it.

Yeah there’s a couple who have attracted PL interest recently but most have been deemed not to be good enough by teams that could if they wanted pick them up for relatively peanuts. Players can always surprised you but if we stay up for say three years I’d be very surprised if more than one or two of the current squad are still here. I said before if a player comes up that we can afford and attract who is of the level we’ll get them in and that might be in positions people didn’t expect.
Yes, don't base your opinions on loyalty as you see it,we just don't know the direction that some may take.

Ivan Toney i like the idea of.

Dream summer would be signing

Toney
Dier
Robertson
Rushworth and Onyeka
Plus 2 other quality names

That would give the team some real quality. Sadly we might not be fishing in this pond though, especially regards to Robertson, but that's why its a dream summer signing.

I'd just like us to sign players I don't have to Google to see who they are!!

I think 3/4 Prem experienced players is crucial, but we should also be trying for some overseas gems and bargains.

Toney as good as he would be, is out of our remit as his wages will be extortionate and he would wanna go back to London.

I wouldn't mind us signing some younger promising champ players to loan out for the year either, and if we go down we have some ready made players. Even better, we stay up and they develop to prem level. Eg. Devlin at pompy, Nelson/Monga at leicester, Price/Bostock west brom, Seriki shef utd etc. Probably a bunch of promising players at L1 level too that have fell of my radar.
